1. Hey Zentrandude, you seem to know what's going on. Do you know what I need to do to watch MPEG's and listen to mp3's on my DS Lite? I know there's something called a Playan released in Japan, but it's probably all in Japanese and also I don't know if it will work on a DS Lite. Any ideas? And, those things you linked too, are those for playing MPEG and mp3?
2. God damn these are looking good. These are going to make customizing a whole lot cheaper. Maybe one of our members here will come up with a retractable landing gear kit. I'm sad not to see a cannon fodder displayed there at the con; I'd love to have at least three of those. Maybe they'll do a three pack? I also demand BATTLE PODS and POWER ARMOR. Hell, they could even do plain armored Zentraedi. Mmmm, fun list time. Enemy Wave 1: Regult Armored Zentraedi Flight Pod (I forget the name) Enemy Wave 2: Q Rau N Ger Glaug Enemy Wave 3: Scout Regult Light Missile Regult Heavy Missile Regult Destroid Wave 1: Defender Tomahawk Phalanx Accessory Wave: Spartan Valkyrie Armor (sumo type) Valkyrie Space Booster
3. What do you think happens when you separate the males and the females for too long?
4. Hurin, that site looks great. I saw it before but I had since forgotten, so thanks for the link. Would you guys be interested in hosting exhaustive line art for each valkyrie? Because that's what my goal is. I think this project might need it's own site, because I'd like each picture to have a source listed so fans can go out and get the books if they want them. And Roy, I agree that it's a good idea to buy artbooks if you're into it. Like I said, I have 7 artbooks just on Macross TV, plus an like 100 magazines (American and Japanese) with lineart. And I still want to see this. I once downloaded a RPG rulesbook from the internet. I liked it so much, I bought a hard copy. I've heard songs on MP3 that were so awesome, I went out and bought the album. That's how people are. I don't think this will hurt artbook sales. So, for the ethical question, how bad do you guys think it would be to make a site dedicated to only Macross Valkyrie line art, with no other material from artbooks (like interviews or character designs or color art). Each picture would also have a source listed with ISBNs for people interested in searching out the actual artbooks.
5. Oh, I have tons of artbooks. But I will never have them all. There just aren't enough to go around. And artbooks aren't complete: I see weird pieces of line art online and I don't know where the hell they come from, even though I own all of the main Macross TV books. I want to see ALL of the mecha lineart, and if a new, obscure drawing shows up, I want that one too. As for piracy, I could give a rat's ass, and let's not play the moral superiority game since we're on the internet. The amount of pirated images on MW alone is staggering. There's lots of stuff in artbooks besides mecha line art -- it's not like we'll need to scan entire books. Mahq.net is a start, but they don't have exhaustive line art nor a focus on Macross.
6. I was thinking official line art, although I'm happy to accept any signed original artworks you'd like to send to my address.
7. I think we can all agree that line art is a good thing. I used to spend hours as a kid looking at my Robotech RPG books just for the line art. Nowadays I buy artbooks, but it's hard to get all the lineart I want, especially when it comes to M7, M+, or MII. I'm sure it's the same way for some of you guys. I think Macross World would be the perfect place for a Macross line art archive, but if that's not possible, it should still exist somewhere. What do you guys think? Would you like something like that? Would you be willing to contribute?
8. I'm jealous! I think I know why Yamato hasn't made the SDF Macross. Because you'd only buy one! It's cool to have a squad of VFs, because there's squads of VFs in the show. But there's only one Macross in the series, so why buy more than one? You can also customize your own paint scheme for a valk, because that paint scheme could have existed somewhere in the UN Spacy forces. But it's hard to imagine there was another SDF somewhere, with it's own paint scheme, that we never heard about. Although...alternate Macross paint schemes would be cool. I dare someone to do a Minmay Guard SDF-1! Or an all red Miria!
9. People, please help me. I really want to watch Macross 7. I refuse to even try to download it, because all of the M7 downloads I've tried before have been horrible quality (overly compressed or something?). I've watched TV shows online that looked fine, but all the M7 episodes I've seen have had nearly unwatchable video. Is there a good bootleg out there? I hate bootlegs because they compress like 10 episodes onto one DVD, but so far that seems like the only option. Any advice?
10. I can't have that attitude with something likely to cost around $150. 413225 good for you, stand your ground! you tell Nani what's up! It's his money, not yours, what does his "attitude" have anything to do with you? 413231 I think you completely misunderstood me, dude. What I was trying to say to Nani was: I can't have the same attitude he has (namely, "stop comparing it to the official line art... We're never going to get a perfect match... cut them some slack...The underbelly blows... so be it...Rejoice.") regarding a $150 toy. For me to spend that kinda cash, it's gotta be damn near perfect.
11. I can't have that attitude with something likely to cost around $150.
12. Damn right! I NEED a 1/60 VF-11 with fast packs and sumo-armor. That would be so sweeeeet. About the new YF-19, I can't believe you guys can accept that horribly fat forward fuselage. It reminds me of a frickin' pelican. Not what I'd call sleek. Looks like I'll be passing this up.
13. I love all the valks listed, but what I desire most is a better VF-11, especially with "sumo" armor. Fast packs would be nice too. However, I voted for the VF-4 because voting "other" is no fun. I think it's great that a Mac II valk is winning this poll!
14. Hey guys, will ACE2 play on my US Playstation 2, or do I have to get some sort of mod chip?
15. Hey all, I have a chance to get a HCM but there are none on eBay so I'm not sure if I'm getting ripped off. Do you guys know about how much they are worth now? I know the toy guide on this site says $400 but that's old info. I doubt they are worth as much now. Any help is appreciated.
16. Do people really still like this franchise? Every Metal Gear game after Solid on the PS1 was crap. Raiden ruined Sons of Liberty, and the ending made no sense whatsoever. There were so many mysterious clues about what was really going on and then -- nothing. They never explained how they fit together or what they meant (a la The Matrix and the Silent Hill games). Why was the colonel talking to me, the player? Who the fart knows. Snake Eater suffered from poor gameplay -- the overhead view where you can't see more than ten feet in front of you, no transition when switching back from first-person view (leaving you lost thanks to your camoflauge), a pointlessly tedious execution of first-aid, and the stupid camoflauge outfits that you could change into, instantly, every ten feet or so, while people were looking for you. Also, Snake Eater's villains were extremely juvenile and unbelievable, often acting like the bad guys from Power Rangers. The games are praised due to fanboyism and bad taste, pure and simple.
17. I think that article is a pretty dishonest hack-job. It's basically a list of all the greatest influences on US anime fandom, based on popularity or something, without any regard to the music. Although, the Robotech OST was really good -- way better than Macross'. But they praised the US Minmei songs? Those were dismal! Also, Yoko Kano is retardedly overrated. Please list her good songs so I can look them up and see for myself how bad your taste is.
18. So what's up with these 1/100 valks? Are they vaporware yet?
19. I think the new Prime looks awesome. Can't wait to see real pictures.
20. I was there, but unfortunately I didn't realize there were other MWers there. Here's me (looking fat since all I could do the last 8 rainy weeks was stay in and eat) and Mari.
21. It did? You must have got a special version then. 393328 He's talking about the official lineart. It's in there. And I agree with everything you say about Palladium. Good riddance.
22. Srungle! I think I actually had a toy from this show, but I didn't know what it was at the time. I really loved the toy until my dipsh*t friend broke it. I think Srungle was aired in the US (spliced with another show a la Robotech) as Macron 1. I still remember the theme song! Ma-ma-ma-ma ma-ma Macron 1! Ma-ma-ma-ma ma-ma Macron 1! I watched it because it "looked like Robotech." I remember they played "King for a Day" by the Thompsons Twins and "Beat It" by Michael Jackson, in the actual show, during action scenes. That was wild. I still want that toy...
23. Awesome! All we need are Valkyries with trees inside and we're all set! Ha! I actually laughed aloud at that.
