I just really want a good Shockwave to go with my Classics... Unfortunately, no Shockwave I have is perfect. Animated? Too cartoony. DotM? Too Bayformer. FoC? So close, with a perfect head and chest, but he's so tiny, with spindly limbs, and a weird-looking gun hand. I thought maybe, despite his Bayformer-ish rounded limbs, BH might do it. I mean, he's beefy. And while his gun arm isn't particularly G1-ish, I think it's actually more similar than FOC. His head's not as flat and has a layered look that sort of puts it between DotM and G1 Shockwave. And I do like that one of his tank treads makes a "hose" connection from his back to his gun arm. Sadly, of the four Shockwaves I own, he's got the worst alt-mode. For a guy who always ends up with "Cybertronian" alt modes, BH really looks like Shockwave laying down and aiming his gun between his legs, and maybe I mistransformed him somehow, but he's not particularly solid in alt mode, either. I could forgive his alt mode, but despite being simple and crappy it still seems to manage to compromise his bot mode. He's got zero ankle movement, his gun arm has a limited range of mobility (and keeps popping off), and his hips seem designed to either be in their alt-mode "I'm taking a dump" stance or in a standing up straight pose, with his legs together. As for Blitzwing, I'm not sure that I can add anything that hasn't already been said by everyone else. He'll go on my Classics shelf in bot mode, and I can say that I have a Blitzwing to help fill out the Decepticon ranks, but he's not one of my favorite toys.- 17159 replies

Well, after checking a few stores near work earlier in the week, I went to the Target by my house today. Scored a Blitzwing, but alas, no Springer. What I did find, besides Blitzwing, is a Beast Hunters Shockwave.- 17159 replies

So, I guess this is happening. As someone who's never seen the show, this has no impact on me. Kinda curious to see what the bronies on the board think of it, though.- 168 replies

On the plus side, there's the potential for a KOTOR sequel (that hopefully isn't a crappy MMO), since BioWare is with EA. On the downside, I'll have to install Origin to play it...- 6894 replies

Anyone here ever own an MSI laptop? My in-laws have an MSI all-in-one desktop... seemed pretty nice, if a little on the slow side. I'm in the market for a laptop to replace my old Asus (Core 2 Duo, GeForce GTX 260M, 4GB RAM, 320GB hard drive). I want something with a little more oomph, but it doesn't have to be better than my desktop or anything. I kind of have my eye on an MSI GE70 OND (Core i7, GTX 660M, 8GB, 750GB), mostly because it seems pretty thin for a gaming laptop, and is much more reasonably priced than the Razer Blade. There are other laptops in the same $1200-$1400 price range with better stuff like backlit keyboards or GTX 670Ms, but they all seem to be a lot heavier and thicker (9 pounds vs. 6, 2.25" vs 1.5"). -

I still can't find Blitzwing or Springer. I checked the Target I went to early in the week, nothing. I stopped by TRU after seeing Iron Man, and I swear that had less than Target. Maybe I'll go to Walmart tomorrow...- 17159 replies

I really want Blitzwing and Springer... but alas, Transformers are getting scarce in my area. Walmart doesn't even have any Beast Hunters besides Voyager Optimus and Predaking. I was able to score a Smokescreen at Target, though.- 17159 replies

That's too bad. While I don't think Round2's models have been bad, they don't seem to like to make models that aren't either an Enterprise or a Klingon ship (the exceptions being two Romulan models, two space stations, the Reliant, and a Ferengi ship that comes packed with a Klingon ship). And aside from the 1/2500 cadet series, the scales for their models are all over the place, from 1/350 to 1/3200. I'd buy models for most of the ships from Star Trek, but if I do I'd like them to all be one consistent scale. Unless someone else can get a license, I doubt we'll be seeing any official Odyssey models any time soon.

The guys in the STO forums have used everything from developer notes to in-game scale to using the lifeboats as a fixed indicator to estimate a size, and best guesses are somewhere between 850-1050 meters, probably closer to the lower end. On a 1/2500 scale I'm coming up with 34cm in length, or a little over a 13" long. The largest listed dimension is only 11.884cm. Starfleet ships are (usually) some of my favorite sci-fi ships, so I really do hope your Odyssey turns out. I know I'd love to have a lot more 1/2500 scale starships than just the six Enterprises, and I see rupi's got a Luna-class and a Prometheus-class, too. Get me an Intrepid, a Nova, an Akira, a Nebula, a Miranda, a Vesta, and maybe a diminutive Defiant and NX-01 and I'd be a happy camper.

Tell me about it! But, even though I can't line up the decals perfectly and I sometimes tear them or get bubbles/wrinkles, I am horrible at painting. So I'll accept the for what they are: inexpensive, not too big models that are happily in scale with each other (vs. the Hot Wheels Enterprise refit and Enterprise-D I bought when the first Abrams Star Trek came out). Please post some pics and your thoughts when you get it. I'd really like to have an Enterprise-F to go with the other six, but the listed dimensions seem a little small. I know that there's no official dimensions, but even a conservative estimate of its size should mean that from bow to the end of the secondary hull it should be as long as the Sovereign from bow to the ends of the nacelles.

Where'd you find that at? I imagine it's fairly large... I'm curious because last week I ordered all of the 1/2500 Cadet Series Round 2 AMT Enterprise models. So far I've built the original, the refit (which I labeled as the A), and the B. I've almost finished the saucer on the D. It'd be really awesome to have an F...

What ship are you flying, and how is it set up? Also, what level is your captain, and what starship skills did you focus on? You can PM me if you want, maybe we can set up a time to team up.

Well, if you hit the cap, there's new episodes to play since you quit, so there's new content. But they never raised the cap, so you're not going to earn any more ships through promotions. All you can do is buy them. I think they changed it so that you can't buy them with energy credits anymore, but don't hold me to that. New ships cost dilithium (I think) or Zen points (which is basically real money). If you're willing to pay real money, there's tons of new ships available, including the Odyssey-class, the Vesta-class (like the Aventine in the books), and non-Starfleet ships from Federation races like the Andorians. Personally, I think the ships are too over-priced... at $5 a pop, I'd probably spend a fortune and buy them all, but most are in the $15-$25 range. If that doesn't sound like your thing, you could always role a new toon. Like my level 50 was an engineering captain who only flew crusiers, but lately I've been playing a science captain who flies research ships, and I've got a tactical captain on my account who will only fly escorts. As I said before, you can play through just the story episodes, so no grinding should be necessary to see the new content (short of playing the story episodes you've seen already). If that's still not fun, you could wait until the Legacy of Romulus expansion goes live. Brand new Romulan campaign from 1-50, and Warbirds to fly! Plus the Klingon campaign's changing, so you'll be able to play the Klingon campaign from 1-50. Legacy of Romulus is enough motivation for me to fork over real money for a few extra character slots.

Not anymore. They gave it away briefly during their anniversary event last year, but it's all premium now. But don't let that put you off the game, or stories about grinding. I can't promise this won't change in the future, but you gain XP a lot faster than when the game first came out. Grinding is absolutely not necessary to work your way up through all the tiers, and probably not necessary to hit 50 (the level cap). You can do it all just by playing the main story missions, totally single player. I've been playing my alt lately, and she's not even done with the Klingon chapter. Her current mission has a minimum level requirement of 9, and she's a 12. I haven't done a single daily, no patrols, no fleet actions, no nothing except the main story missions. She levels almost every time she finishes a mission.

And I'm glad I already own one! Seriously, I haven't been the biggest Zelda fan, but A Link to the Past is my favorite Zelda game and one of my favorite SNES games. A real top-down sequel instead of the 3D Zeldas or Capcom's (still admittedly good) Gameboy games is a must buy for me. Going back to BioShock Infinite for a minute, I was at a TRU today. I don't live as close to one as I used to, so I don't go as often. I was excited to see they had BioShock Infinite toys... less excited to realize all they had was Boy of Silence.- 6894 replies

May 1st for Steam. Yeah, I'm pretty sold on this. Far Cry 3 was a solid game, so taking the basic mechanics and making it 80's campy sci-fi is awesome.

The Odyssey, the mission that introduced it, and the announcement that the Odyssey-class Enterprise-F were all part of the 2nd anniversary celebration, about a year ago. Speaking of, that was around the last time I'd played. I'd just finished up the Borg chapter with my main, and I rolled up my science and tactical alts so that I could do the Odyssey mission with them, and I played my science alt a little. So the other day, I logged in with my main, and like you said I got hailed right away to go to the Azure Nebula. Ran through, got my reward, collected my Ambassador. Sweet. Yesterday I logged in with my science alt. Nothing. Temporal Ambassador doesn't even show up as an available mission in her journal. I complete her current mission. She goes up to 10 (one more level and I can dump this stupid Miranda!). Still nothing. I'd read that, since they'd hired Denise Crosby to play Tasha Yar in the mission that they were making it permanent, that everyone can play and get the Tier 3 Ambassador, and that they were just taking away the Tier 5 Ambassador refit. Is that not correct? I hope she didn't miss it, because unlike my main, she might actually use it.

I think the problem with the Odyssey they gave you for free was that it had one fewer tactical console than the Sovereign. Even though my main toon is an engineer, I feel (I don't know if this has changed) that the more tactical consoles you have, the better. Maybe if you bought the tactical Odyssey variant, it'd be better? But the ships in STO are so very overpriced...
