    Soundwave didn't use the mini-vac to revive Skyfire. It was some sort of scanner or something (I can't remember exactly what he used it for). And he used it in Fire on the Mountain for... something.

    No, the episode you're remembering is Fire in the Sky. That's the one where the Decepticons discover Skyfire buried in the ice from millions of years ago when he and Starscream were buddies. At the end of that episode, he sacrifices himself to stop the Decepticon's plans. The Autobots even have a memorial service. Then, seriously two episodes later, in Fire on the Mountain, the Decepticons are up to no good in some South American jungle, and the Autobots need a ride. So they go dig Skyfire back up. No explanation is given, that I recall, for why the Autobots can reach the Arctic but South America is a problem for them. Likewise, no explanation that I recall is given for why the Autobots were forced to leave him for dead but can now suddenly dig him up.

    But... that's the episode where they brought Skyfire back to life! ...by digging him up. Which, I guess, the Autobots were too lazy to do two episodes before when he crashed into the ice in the first place.

    Speaking of Soundwave, my wife got me FoC Soundwave and the Frenzy/Ratbat and Ravage/Rumble packs. Soundwave's a bit of a mixed bag. Transformation is extremely similar to WfC Soundwave's just scaled up. The main differences are that, going to alt mode, part of his chest slides up and his feet tuck in while a new backplate becomes the roof. As a bot, the horns on his wheels are fixed, the front wheels fold onto his sides instead of his back, and his back wheels rotate so that the wheels point toward the ground instead of toward the front. Between bots, FoC is a lot better than WfC. The head sculpt is much better, he's thicker, and he just seems to have better proportions. He's not perpetually looking down. His left finger is sculpted so it's sticking out a bit, like his going to push the button on his shoulder to open his chest. He's also got more paint apps. I also dig that he's got a ton of ratcheting joints; WfC Soundwave was kind of floppy. It's also cool, in theory, that he can store a couple of the "cassettes." I say "in theory" because in practice they fit very poorly, making me concerned that they're going to get stuck, plus his back plate moves backwards to make room in his chest, so storing several cassettes means having Soundwave walking around with his back hanging a ridiculous distance off his body. I'm also not happy that he didn't come with a gun besides his shoulder weapon (which is gray with gold instead of blue with gray for some reason). When it comes to alt mode, though, WfC wins. Yeah, he was more truck than car in the games, but he was still fairly sleek. The WfC toy matched the proportions pretty well, and I like that you could store his weapons inside in alt mode. Due to his cassette storage gimmick, FoC Soundwave's alt mode is a brick. It's maybe 20-25% as long, but at least double the thickness. Adding to the mess is that the only place to put his shoulder cannon is right in the middle of his roof, in front of a molded seat that shouldn't be there. Now, onto the "cassettes." Yeah, they're pretty crappy. I won't complain about Laserbeak too much, mostly because he comes with Soundwave. Partly because he and Ratbat (who's a slight retooling of Laserbeak) are the best of the cassettes. See, the cassettes have a gimmick, too. When they're in "data disc" mode, there's a small button on one side. You put the disc into Soundwave with the button pointing out. In theory, you can open Soundwave and then push his back to make the disc eject. The disc will land on the button, then pop open into bot mode. Aside from them sticking in Soundwave's chest, this gimmick works perfectly for them. They pop right into bot mode. And their bot modes look ok, with nicely-sculpted heads, smallish bodies, large wings, and tails. Laserbeak is very similar to Booster X10 from the first live-action movie's "real gear" line, just with a more G1 Laserbeak head and no legs. They have zero poseability, though Their disc mode is kind of stupid, but I suppose to worse than a cassette tape. Rumble and Frenzy are next. They've got a little work to do when they pop out, because their feet aren't deployed and their arms are straight up. They can swing their arms, but that's it for their range of motion. Their very tiny heads do look like Rumble/Frenzy. Ravage is just a mess. When he lands on his button, his back half is still pretty much untransformed. His head sculpt is the worst of the five, with fangs more evocative of Venom than Ravage. He's got a huge gap behind his shoulders, and another between his hind legs. The gap between his legs is covered by a flap that doesn't peg into anything, and itself has a gap where his tail folds out of it. None of the cassettes are accurate to their in-game models. My advice? If you don't have WfC Soundwave, FoC Soundwave is definitely worth it. If you have WfC Soundwave, it's more debatable... WfC Soundwave works better if you're going to put him with other WfC/FoC toys, but FoC Soundwave does look a lot better as a bot, and I'll probably stick him with my Classics until Hasbro gives me something better. As for the cassettes, skip 'em. They're not worth $11 for a pack of two. They're crappy bots with crappier alt modes centered on a gimmick of being able to plug into Soundwave.

    Nope. As much as I love Macross, and as much as the mecha play a part in that love, I've actually never liked any of the Macross toys out there.

    Yes, I am. And if he does release in July, that's even better. Nice weather for driving around to local stores, no major gift-giving holidays crowding the stores with irritated parents... Hellz yeah!

    I wouldn't hold out hope that they ever do. Lamborghini's part of the Volkswagen Group, and they've been, "Transformers is too violent, we're not licensing our vehicles to you!" for awhile.

    See, I think he looks good, but the quality just doesn't seem to be $100-good.May I ask where you got him? He doesn't seem to be at the usual spots. I didn't realize how much I didn't want a FoC Omega Supreme toy until I saw one. I've got the usual complaints about his tiny, skinny legs and his crotch that makes Titanium Soundwave look kinda normal, but I can't deny that it's very spot on. I don't feel like I'm settling on Year of the Snake Omega, I actually prefer him for my Classics shelves.

    I don't want to de-rail the discussions of the not-Stunticons and not-Predaking, but I'm kind of thinking about buying my first third-party Transformer. ...no, not Hercules and/or Giant. Too rich for my blood, at the moment. Actually, I was re-arranging my Classics shelves, and thinking about how much I dislike Classic Megatron (specifically the Voyager, although the Deluxe is worse). He's not particularly poseable, his fusion cannon is on the wrong side of his arm, his colors are hideous, etc. So I was kind of thinking about getting Hegemon, who looks really good. So, opinions? I've heard he has some QC issues. He also seems to be kind of hard to find; can anyone suggest a good place to buy him?

    Does anyone know when Amazon charges your credit card for preorders? I'm seriously thinking about getting Year of the Snake Optimus and Omega Supreme, but after today's nasty snowstorm I'm also thinking about getting new tires. If Amazon doesn't bill me until they ship it, I should be golden.

    Both of which you can do with Steam, too. It's even got a "Big Picture Mode" that's supposed to make the interface more navigable on a TV with a controller.I've grown to prefer PC gaming. My PC's a lot more powerful, most games look better on my PC, I have my choice of controller or mouse and keyboard, I don't have to switch discs when I want to play a different game, it's usually cheaper due to Steam's habit of running awesome sales, and I don't have to worry about my wife kicking me off because she wants to watch whatever stupid show she's into (right now, it's Vampire Diaries or something).

    Not that it was the best in the series, and not that most of you didn't already play it on PlayStation 3, but Ace Combat: Assault Horizon is now available on Steam.

    No one's picked up Darksiders, either, which bums me out a bit.EDIT: Capcom used to be one of my favorite game companies. Then they started with on-disc DLC, canceled three or four good-looking Mega Man games, replaced Dante with a Vampire Diaries extra, and generally scared off most of their talent.

    Where are you buying from? IIRC, Starscream's the only version of the v2 Seekers to be released in Japan, but Thundercracker's the only one to be released in the States. If you bought one and imported the other (or imported both, if you live somewhere that none have been released), you'd only need Skywarp.

    Nope. Probably not going to, and yes, it's because I can't stand their take on Dante. Even then, I was almost tempted to play it, but I grew irritated with the way the game's proponents casually dismissed the critics of the new Dante as if their concerns were invalid just because the game got a couple of good review scores. Hey, Darksiders was a pretty good game, too, but I can only imagine how pissed people would have been if Nintendo published it, renamed War to Link, and billed it as a Legend of Zelda reboot. But I digress. How long did you want it to be? 8-12 hours seems about right for a hack n' slash. It's been awhile since I've played a DmC game, but that sounds about right. Sounds about right for the God of War series, Bayonetta, and Dante's Inferno, too. Only one I can think of that I've played that stood out as being much longer was Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

    That's interesting, though. BBTS doesn't put up rumors, but I usually hear about Masterpiece toys from at least one other source first.With that price, I'm assuming Sideswipe/Lambor sized. And unlike Sideswipe, Prowl could make it Stateside, as I'm unaware of Nissan having the same licensing qualms that the Volkswagen Group does.

    Is that confirmed? I know that there's a lot of fan speculation that MP-17 will be Prowl on a lot of Transformers boards, but I can't find anything but speculation.

    So MP-12 is getting a third repaint as Tigertrack... Not that I particularly care, but it seems a little odd to do a repaint as such an obscure character. As long as we're repainting Masterpieces as obscure characters, where's my Masterpiece Pepsi Convoy?

    I'll read almost any written review of almost any Transformer, even ones I'm not interested. But I'll have nothing to do with video reviews.
