  1. Yeah. It really makes the engineering impressive, that they took the same size alt-mode and came up with toys that are a 100x better than the originals. Laserbeak and Buzzsaw seem especially impressive, since not only are they the same size, but their engine-backpacks are actually built into the transformation. Rumble and Frenzy both look great. Ravage could be better, but let's be honest, no amount of engineering is ever going to take a flat cassette and turn it into a jaguar that looks anything like the animation model. Alas, I was a stupid kid when I had my original Transformers, and gave them away to cousins when I became a stupid teenager. The only G1 toys I have are reissues... and even then I think it's just Prime and Soundwave. Oh, and Pepsi Prime. I kind of hope that someone with a Takara Soundwave breaks it, then I can buy it cheap on eBay for the head. I want animation red eyes, dang it.
  2. So happy! Instead of looking at treatment's pics with bitter envy, I can now join in on the fun!
  3. Oooooooooh... I'm glad to see those guys are finally showing up. Not sure about Orion Pax, as that particular look is like a one-off in the IDW-verse, and I'm not really a fan. I kind of want Trailcutter, though, because he was pretty cool in the More than Meets the Eye series (although he's kind of been a non-player lately). I'm more interested in Bumblebee, to have a Classics version visually distinct from Cliffjumper (although I may just wait for the Goldbug repaint), and Megatron, because I dug that look in the comic book.
  4. Well, I got my Soundwave from my buddy tonight. The gold paint around his chest-hole is much less yellow and much more gold than in promo shots of him. He's my second-favorite Masterpiece, behind MP-01. I think bot mode is just as good, but details like the side-view mirrors on Prime's truck mode vs. the big, obvious gaps on the back of Soundwave's alt mode make Prime the favorite. Soundwave himself is mostly all good. His hip joints are a little too tight, and his index fingers pop off with the gentlest of force, but I can't complain too much. My Ravage, Rumble, and Frenzy seem fine, too. I'm constantly terrified I'm going to accidentally pop off the fins on Lazerbeak and Buzzsaw, though, and I find it impossible to get their heads out of cassette mode without the aid of a tool. One of Lazerbeak's feet is really, really loose, too.
  5. My fear isn't just that Bamco will rob us blind on DLC... we already know that they're going to do that, because they've already done it. My fear is that after getting my hopes up for another real AC game Infinity is going to come out and it's going to be some crappy multiplayer only game.
  6. I was just about to type "what do you want for it?" when my buddy calls. I've been helping him plan a birthday party for his wife, and he wanted to check on a few last minute costume things (see, she's obsessed with Dr. Who, so we're all dressing up as different Doctors). He mentions he's on his way to Goodwill, Best Buy, and maybe TRU, so I ask him to check if they have Soundwave, expecting that they're still sold out. Turns out they were literally pulling one off the truck, so he nabbed it for me. All is now right with this world...
  7. I want one because I don't have a Takara one. Or any one. *EDIT* I got excited when I refreshed the page and saw that it was available for ship-to-home, around 5:00pm EDT. By the time I got to the shopping cart, though, I had a red message telling me that inventory was limited, and that he'd be removed from my cart.
  8. Well, I called TRU as soon as I was able (since I'm at work), around an hour after they opened. Sold out. Good job, TRU. I give it two middle fingers up.
  9. Oh yeah, so easy to come by that my local TRU NEVER got any stock. EDIT: Just got off the phone with my local TRU. They got stock, but they won't put them out until tomorrow (when, of course, I'm at work and won't be able to get there until they've most likely sold them all...).
  10. And gone again by the time I get home. Sigh.
  11. Stop getting my hopes up. Shows not available online, not available in store for me.
  12. But what about when Capcom makes a Zelda game? Something tells me that Gakken85's less confused over the "third-party" part and more confused over the "licensed" part. We talk about all kinds of unofficial, unlicensed third party stuff in this thread, but I can't remember anyone making a licensed third-party Transformer.
  13. A. Because at least MP-01 has an alt mode. B. Because I have MP-10, which is better than MP-01. C. Because Pat Lee arms.
  14. Looks sorta like a cross between MP-01 and MP-10, with Pat Lee forearms.
  15. If you're picking up Fire Emblem, pick up Shin Megami Tensei IV. Not only is it one of the best games on the 3DS, but if you register both to a Club Nintendo account you'll get $30 eShop credit. The only thing about SMTIV is that it seems like there aren't a lot of stores that carry it, so you might have to buy online. On the plus side, it comes with a book and a soundtrack. I also highly recommend Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy, which is actually a remake of Ace Combat 2, and Super Mario 3D Land, which turned out to be my favorite Mario game of all time. Then some other games I've enjoyed, but YMMV, would be New Super Mario Bros 2, Scribblenauts Unlimited, Ocarina of Time, Project X Zone, and Dead or Alive Dimensions.
  16. Yes, Xenogears is an amazing game. The problem with it, though, is that it's 15 years old, and none of the "spiritual sequel" Xenosaga games were nearly as good, which reinforces the idea that there aren't any good JRPGs anymore. This is not true, though. Yes, generic anime fantasy JRPGs are a dime a dozen, but games in the MegaTen series have been pretty awesome. Persona 4 Golden is the single best reason to own a Vita (the fact that you can download Persona 3 Portable is an added bonus). Shin Megami Tensei IV is like a week old on the 3DS and is pretty awesome so far. Oh, but for those of you with PS3s (or Vitas) who haven't played Xenogears, you absolutely definitely should, and you have no excuse not to be because it's on the PSN.
  17. Again, if you have a 3DS, Shin Megami Tensei IV.
  18. Forget the cutesy anime RGPs for a minute... is anyone playing Shin Megami Tensei IV? SMT3 was one of my favorite games on the PS2, so I was super-psyched for SMTIV. On the normal difficulty, SMTIV is easily as hard as 3, maybe more so. I turned the difficulty down and I'm enjoying it a lot more now that I'm not dying every other encounter. The game has a lot of the hallmarks of the SMT series... you control a single human protagonist, you bribe demons to join you, and you fuse them to make strong demons. It's got the press turn battle system. There are plenty of mysterious characters, and a story that seems to laying the groundwork for the philosophies you'll eventually pick from to determine the ending. Despite the similarities, though, it feels a lot different (and so far, less dark) than SMT3.
  19. I specifically want an HD re-release of AC3 with all the content that was cut from the U.S. release. I freaking loved that game.
  20. What that probably means is it'll only be the multiplayer from the last few AC games, no singleplayer, and you'll start with maybe three planes. You want more planes and better weapons? Bust out the wallet, 'cuz it's gonna cost you some real money. They've already done that, though. CFA-44 was in Ace Combat 6 and Assault Horizon. The ASF-X turning up in Infinity just means that it's easier to re-use assets, not that they're going to blend their real-world setting and their Strangereal one. Actually, Namco blended the Strangereal world with a ton of other Namco properties. Ridge Racer takes place in Strangreal (which shouldn't be a surprise... wasn't it already suggested that Kei Nagase in AC2 and Reiko Nagase in Ridge Racer 4 were sisters?).
  21. Basically the one we already have, except way improved. Prediction: instead of repainting Armada Starscream a dozen times as other Seekers and calling it a day, they'll retool the intakes around his chest, give him a new head, and release it as Slipstream.
  22. Yeah, Whirl's a huge must-buy for me, even if I wish he looked more IDW and less G1. MTMTE has made him a favorite. Armada Starscream... doesn't really have a place on my Classics shelf, skipped out on Classics/Universe/Generations Hot Shot... but I think I do want this one. And you forgot to mention Scoop... who, quite frankly, looks like a really good update on his original toy, and whom I have zero interest in anyway.
  23. Yikes. From the company that made the worst Silent Hill game, the game adaptions for G.I. Joe, Green Lantern, and Battleship. I think their best work might have been Front Mission Evolved, which I thought was at least mildly amusing if not good, but was generally not well-received. I feel sorry for Strider fans: right now I'm thanking the Flying Spaghetti Monster that Double Helix didn't get their hands on Mega Man.
  24. I think the biggest fail is that TRU decides to make a hotly-anticipated collector's item available in very limited quantities at a time when most of the market is asleep.
