Keep in mind that you should carry the key for those locks with you all the time. Kids tend to get really creative when they want to get something they can't have. Also do you fixate your cabinets somewhere so they can't be knocked down? I saw some pictures here in the forum where some shelfs broke down and all the Valkyries on it broke. And I assume when you life in CA earthquakes are a constant thread to your collection.

I'm still skeptical about the RVF-171EX because I don't see a way to have a radar fin on the toy and still able to stand the plane on its landing gear. Surprise us Bandai.

This is my greatest fear that, without competition, Bandai would only release half-assed toys due to the lack of a competitor. The Yamato Valkyrie line was proof that the V1 versions of the VF-25s could have been better and due to Yamatos offerings collectors bought their toys instead of Bandais. I assume that this hurt Bandais sales and convinced them to redo the Frontier line. And the end result were far superior toys (if you could actually buy them ). And since Bandai started to outsource their Valkyrie design to the same studio that designed Yamatos VFs I'm sure that Bandais release had some benefits from Yamato pushing the limits of modern Valkyrie toy design even if the VF-171 was designed first. Bandai needs a competitor to bring their a-game. And we all know now that Bandai can in fact design terrible toys.

It seems that the scheme to wipe Macross 2 out of existence is working out so far. In a few years nobody will know what the therm VF-2SS means. Poor Ishtar.

I don't dare to click on that link because I'm currently at work.

That should be a VF-5000. Here is a Battroid picture from the MachrossMechaManual: Source: http://macross2.net/m3/macrossga/vf-5000b-vfx2.htm

I don't like the VF-19 the YF-19 looks much better and Arcadia will make V3 of that Valkyrie. I don't like the VF-19 the YF-19 looks much better and Arcadia will make V3 of that Valkyrie. ... Heresy!!! *torch and pitchfork grab* I really would like to see a 1/60th VF-2SS because I'm interested to see how Arcadia would bring the legs closer together. All other realized Valkyries have the legs in a fixed configuration in all modes. Minus the V1 VF-1 from Yamato but this specific Birds is not considered "perfect transformation" even if it comes the reality closer than any other toy.

What do you mean by that? Please enlighten me! Well, I'm rather new to this forum but I thought this it the way it normally goes on MW. Jwinges I'm sure it can be done but I'm not sure that the fans of Macross would like the result. I'm not sure that kids are really that into love interests. None of my friends where into that when we were kids but times change. My favorite anime as a child was Sei Jūshi Bismark and I ended up with being Bill Wilcox because all of my Friends thought a ladykiller was stupid and Shinji Hikari is way cooler. I read both the One Piece and Naruto manga and neither has any deep relationships from what I have seen. So once again I maybe wrong on that front. But that aside what should Arcadia do to push this development? I think they can't because they are so small.
-
That's not what I meant. I saw M7 when I was a Teenager and now I'm 30 something. So there are no kids around who saw M7 because they all grew up. Besides If you don't get the deep, intelligent overarching story of M7 you're just not mature enough.

Ok so if we would like to see more affordable and cheaper Macross toys you have to have a larger and younger fan base. If the toys have to be from Arcadia then Arcadia has to embark the same strategy as Bandai. Sponsor a new Macross show get exclusive merchandise rights and hope that it will be popular with the kids (say boys of age 10-14). I'm not sure if the results would please the Macross fan. I mean you have to cut all the singing because singing about love is dumb. And cut the love-triangle stuff because girls are ugly and stink. When you look at popular stuff like Naruto you would have endless episodes where nothing happens with 10 minutes recap of the previous episode and 10 minutes preview of the next with 2 minutes of story in the middle. And I really like the Natruto manga (but that is faster paced so to hell with that). I just watched the episodes of SDF-Macross where the earth gets destroyed and man there happens stuff in just one episode. The minds of todays children can not cope with the amount of content in just one episode of SDF-Macross. But Arcadia is a small company they can't sponsor a TV-show Bandai can. And Bandai sponsors a show to sell toys for it so then again we wont have affordable Macross toys from Arcadia we would have them from Bandai. So I don't see how Arcadia can make other Macross toys then high priced, high quality collector items. Arcadia has do make money out of their toy lines and some voices say the Macross line is not profitable enough. That's why we have this discussion at the moment. I don't see what the could do differently. You have to keep in mind that transformable Macross toys are a niche of a niche even in Japan (as far as I understand it).

Is the main color of the Armor Parts the same as on the Super Parts. If they are and you have both sets you could ditch the thigh pieces from the Super Parts and use the armored version. You would lose the white markings and the armor on the intakes has a different color but I guess they would look good. At the moment I'm thinking if I should by the Alto Armor Parts only for that.

Well Graham stated a few weeks ago that you should not buy a VF-0 right now because there was a renewal planned but no news from a new SV-51. But I read somewhere that the designer who did the SV-51 wants to revisit it. So maybe if Arcadia continues with 1/60th Valkyries and the release a new VF-0 and it sells well maybe you get a new SV-51. A lot of maybes there. At the moment I would not count on any news there in 2013. Here is the thread I talked about: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=38378

I honestly don't get where those kids toys argument comes from. The latest Macross license that Yamato had (form the tv shows) was Macross 7 which is a show from 1994. No kid today wants something from that era. In addition these shows are not aimed at kids. If you hand a toy from a mid 90s to a kid he does not want it. He wants something from the current generation. Like Transformers Prime/Ben10/My little Pony. All his friends have these toys and they are backed up with some kind of kids friendly media (a TV-Show/Comic/Game). You could try it, give your kid an awesome Freakazoid doll. without any knowledge what this is and let it play with his friends (who also don't know what it is) with all their cool Naruto toys. The toy will most likely be banned from any further play activities. Yamato could not cater to a younger customer base because there is and never will be a 8+ consumer base for SDF/DYRL?/M+/M7. Never ever!

I have the feeling that you are splitting hairs now. Going after the dictionary (elitist: organized for the good of a few people who have special interests or abilities) the 1/60th Macross collecting scene is elitist in itself. There is now doubt about it. But I assume none of you meant this. The real question is: were the 1/60th Yamato offerings worth the price? And every Macross fan has to answer that question for himself if he is interested in one of Yamatos toys. What is a fact is that there are no Macross toys for children. Even the Bandai re-issues of the 1/55 VF-1 is not for children although they were released in the 80s for children. Bandai released them for people who were kids when SDF Macross aired. And there are no Macross toys for children because no one would buy them (unlike the Transformers toys but they don't do to well either).

I admit the server box Sharon Apple is kinda hot. I love the guys from the Jupiter in Battle Angle Alita: Last Order Maybe we get the server box with a Minmay costume

Oh, I hope so too. And especially Bandai fans should hope that Arcadia continues. If Bandai has no counterpart on the transforming Valkyrie market I fear that all of their future releases will look like the V1 VF-25s. And I think the Yamato releases are worth the price-tag they are going for. But I think everything above 20,000 Yen MSRP is a bit much for the 1/60 line so I hope the VF-4 is not the future regarding the price. And don't start to reason on the basis of any other currency the the Yen because that is the currency and economy these toys were produced for. I'm sure Yamato knows how much disposable income their Japanese target audience has. So I assume their pricing fits for Japan. And that is all that matters for Yamato: the Japanese toy collector scene. Not some dirty Gaijin that is rambling on a foreign message board (yeah it's sad to admit this )

Hm when I was a kid I loved to "torture" my toys with a welding torch (oh poor F14 and poor Bismark who I sank in a water bin). I just have images in my mind with my seven year old nephew who has one of my Valks in his hands *shiver*. To be on topic. It would be really sad to see Arcadia abandon the Macorss line. On the other hand we got all the major Valkyries from the stuff that Yamato had the licenses for. What is missing are some rather niche Valks like the VF-5000 but their appearance and recognition is so minimal that I doubt someone will ever make one. It is a miracle that the VF-4 has seen the light of day. So we got all we could hope for (and more) and if this is the end than it was a worthwhile journey. However I doubt that Arcadia will abandon Macross I think they will come back with a bang.

Jwinges, I don't understand that the 1/60th 1/48th Macross line from Yamato has anything to do with a kids toy. They not designed/produced/marketed/distributed with kids in mind. They where created with the idea in mind that they are display pieces with toy-like attributes (to quote Atom from CDX here). You can't compare these with the Transformers main line or any other toys that are sold for kids. And even if I love the RotF Leader Prime (I add this one because it is a marvel of engineering) it is not the same than a Yamato Valkyrie. You're comparing apples and oranges and I don't know why. And if you don't want to buy the whole line of SDF-Macross Vakylries you can easily restrain yourself. Buy only a Hikaru or a Vermillion Squadron or the Skull Squadron from DYRL?. I can't afford all the toy releases I want so I applied a buying scheme that allows me to get the toys I really want. My Valkyries rest in a wooden cabinet with some class doors and I pay attention that they don't get in contact with any sunlight. And every month or so I wear a pair of white gloves and pick one up to transform it or swoosh through the room with it. And frankly I don't trust any of my friends enough that I would let them handle one even if I'm around. Kids don't go anywhere near my cabinets. Oh and I have some toys on my desk to play with to keep my fingers calm. But they are definitely not my Valkyries. Yamato did an awesome job with their releases and is something I doubt would be possible outside Japan.

I think that is what a good Gerwalk-mode should look like. It's not about how deep the nose can go. It's about how far you can get the legs towards the front of the plane. The YF-19 looks really good and "aggressive" the VF-19P not so much.

I'm sure all of the shops are well aware of the situation and decide to scheduling their next Yamato Valkyrie sale far far into the future. Perhaps until Arcadia announces their next Macross VF toy.

Maybe the missiles are some kind of reaction weaponry. I really like the color scheme but all the little stickers don't do it for me, the plane looks just too twitchy. Too much stuff going on. But nonetheless I like it. Great job! You should really do a DYRL? squad with Hikaru, Kakizaki and Max next.

There should be a transformation video in this thread for the Chronos. It shows Kawamori with the Lego prototype.
