    1/55's revisited

Honestly, I don't know if a toy survives that long in the hands of a child. Or at least yellowing was the smallest problem. All these poor toys I mangled as a child... *sigh*
  2. It came with a small Ranka figure! Also the Galia 4 packaging looks smaller then the VF-25 V1 boxes where the VF-171 Super Parts Box had the same size as the Valkyries iirc. So it would be easy to bundle the two in a gift set. So if the wings were not included they would have either a huge box with lots of free space in the inlay or a small box that they cannot bundle with the main toy. Of course that bundle will never happen.
  3. Minus the VF-19 ball joints in the angles of course.
  4. Correct me if I'm wrong but if I'm not mistaken the term Stealth comes from a planes ability not to be detected by radar because it's radar signal is so small. This ability comes mostly from the shape of the plane and the material its fuselage is coated with. In addition most stealth planes are also not traceable by their heat signature because the mask their heat sources (i.e. engines). None of this is affected by the color and/or markings of a plane. So it is possible to have a stealthy but shiny red VF-17 *cough* I didn't want to offend you Froy. It was just something that crossed my mind in this very second. If I'm wrong feel free to correct me.
  5. I also think they look way to busy for my tastes and I can understand why Yamato did not tampoprint all the small stuff that is on the sticker sheet. But at least the markings the Valkyrie had on the anime would be nice (i.e. the kites and the triangle marking).
  6. Good review jenius. I still don't get why Bandai choose the white markings on a white plane for the wings while the markings on the legs are black....
  7. I'm sure they make sense in the mind of a Japanese business man.
  8. Well I thought they do a reissue of the YF-29 30th Anniversary Edition because they figured that not enough people who bought the first release are interested in the Super Parts. So now the release a second wave of the YF-29s to sell enough Super Parts so they don't make a loss with this product. And thus the reissue will be release first so that there are enough orders for the 30th Anniversary Super Parts to make their one time production run profitable. I mean, why not release a reissue of the VF-25s. From what I get here in the forums the would sell millions of units of the VF-25S On the other hand I'm pretty sure that I'm crazy and I can't trust myself any longer. That I don't understand Japanese does not help the issue. *giggle*
  9. In my opinion the EX Super Parts don't look good on the CF version so I don't mind to buy CF specific packs because the off-white color looks really good on the dark teal of the plane. Plus we might get the Vajra control missiles with the new Super Parts. I think that the hard point wings were included to justify the price for the Super Parts. Although Yamato proofed that you just have to sell them in a large box.
  10. The YF-29 Super Part will be released in May via the Tamashii Web Shop. The reissue of the YF-29 is released in March. My question was if the reissue comes with a painted base for the display stand (because I really want one).
  11. Just saw this image here: Look at the YF-29. It has a painted stand. Does this mean that the Super Parts or the re-issue come with this stand? Because the stand of the first release is just black.
  12. Keep in mind that you should carry the key for those locks with you all the time. Kids tend to get really creative when they want to get something they can't have. Also do you fixate your cabinets somewhere so they can't be knocked down? I saw some pictures here in the forum where some shelfs broke down and all the Valkyries on it broke. And I assume when you life in CA earthquakes are a constant thread to your collection.
  13. I'm still skeptical about the RVF-171EX because I don't see a way to have a radar fin on the toy and still able to stand the plane on its landing gear. Surprise us Bandai.
  14. This is my greatest fear that, without competition, Bandai would only release half-assed toys due to the lack of a competitor. The Yamato Valkyrie line was proof that the V1 versions of the VF-25s could have been better and due to Yamatos offerings collectors bought their toys instead of Bandais. I assume that this hurt Bandais sales and convinced them to redo the Frontier line. And the end result were far superior toys (if you could actually buy them ). And since Bandai started to outsource their Valkyrie design to the same studio that designed Yamatos VFs I'm sure that Bandais release had some benefits from Yamato pushing the limits of modern Valkyrie toy design even if the VF-171 was designed first. Bandai needs a competitor to bring their a-game. And we all know now that Bandai can in fact design terrible toys.
  15. It seems that the scheme to wipe Macross 2 out of existence is working out so far. In a few years nobody will know what the therm VF-2SS means. Poor Ishtar.
  16. I don't dare to click on that link because I'm currently at work.
  17. That should be a VF-5000. Here is a Battroid picture from the MachrossMechaManual: Source: http://macross2.net/m3/macrossga/vf-5000b-vfx2.htm
  18. I don't like the VF-19 the YF-19 looks much better and Arcadia will make V3 of that Valkyrie. I don't like the VF-19 the YF-19 looks much better and Arcadia will make V3 of that Valkyrie. ... I don't like the VF-19 the YF-19 looks much better and Arcadia will make V3 of that Valkyrie. *back and forth seesaw*
  19. Heresy!!! *torch and pitchfork grab* I really would like to see a 1/60th VF-2SS because I'm interested to see how Arcadia would bring the legs closer together. All other realized Valkyries have the legs in a fixed configuration in all modes. Minus the V1 VF-1 from Yamato but this specific Birds is not considered "perfect transformation" even if it comes the reality closer than any other toy.
  20. What do you mean by that? Please enlighten me! Well, I'm rather new to this forum but I thought this it the way it normally goes on MW. Jwinges I'm sure it can be done but I'm not sure that the fans of Macross would like the result. I'm not sure that kids are really that into love interests. None of my friends where into that when we were kids but times change. My favorite anime as a child was Sei Jūshi Bismark and I ended up with being Bill Wilcox because all of my Friends thought a ladykiller was stupid and Shinji Hikari is way cooler. I read both the One Piece and Naruto manga and neither has any deep relationships from what I have seen. So once again I maybe wrong on that front. But that aside what should Arcadia do to push this development? I think they can't because they are so small.
  21. That's not what I meant. I saw M7 when I was a Teenager and now I'm 30 something. So there are no kids around who saw M7 because they all grew up. Besides If you don't get the deep, intelligent overarching story of M7 you're just not mature enough.
  22. Ok so if we would like to see more affordable and cheaper Macross toys you have to have a larger and younger fan base. If the toys have to be from Arcadia then Arcadia has to embark the same strategy as Bandai. Sponsor a new Macross show get exclusive merchandise rights and hope that it will be popular with the kids (say boys of age 10-14). I'm not sure if the results would please the Macross fan. I mean you have to cut all the singing because singing about love is dumb. And cut the love-triangle stuff because girls are ugly and stink. When you look at popular stuff like Naruto you would have endless episodes where nothing happens with 10 minutes recap of the previous episode and 10 minutes preview of the next with 2 minutes of story in the middle. And I really like the Natruto manga (but that is faster paced so to hell with that). I just watched the episodes of SDF-Macross where the earth gets destroyed and man there happens stuff in just one episode. The minds of todays children can not cope with the amount of content in just one episode of SDF-Macross. But Arcadia is a small company they can't sponsor a TV-show Bandai can. And Bandai sponsors a show to sell toys for it so then again we wont have affordable Macross toys from Arcadia we would have them from Bandai. So I don't see how Arcadia can make other Macross toys then high priced, high quality collector items. Arcadia has do make money out of their toy lines and some voices say the Macross line is not profitable enough. That's why we have this discussion at the moment. I don't see what the could do differently. You have to keep in mind that transformable Macross toys are a niche of a niche even in Japan (as far as I understand it).
  23. Is the main color of the Armor Parts the same as on the Super Parts. If they are and you have both sets you could ditch the thigh pieces from the Super Parts and use the armored version. You would lose the white markings and the armor on the intakes has a different color but I guess they would look good. At the moment I'm thinking if I should by the Alto Armor Parts only for that.
  24. Well Graham stated a few weeks ago that you should not buy a VF-0 right now because there was a renewal planned but no news from a new SV-51. But I read somewhere that the designer who did the SV-51 wants to revisit it. So maybe if Arcadia continues with 1/60th Valkyries and the release a new VF-0 and it sells well maybe you get a new SV-51. A lot of maybes there. At the moment I would not count on any news there in 2013. Here is the thread I talked about: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=38378
