  1. I keep my preorder for now. However if ET doesn't release images with updates before the supposed release in December I'm probably canceling it. The VF-0S, MP Road Rage and a figurine is due in December and also Christmas. I want this toy for the novellity and my love for the VF-2SS design but it just doesn't look like something I will enjoy.
  2. I like the current shade of purple. With that color I don't feel the need to replace my FT Quakewave. [edit:] I don't know the US safety regulations that well but could you imagine that Hasbro will bring over MP Shockwave in toy accurate colors?
  3. That post got me thinking what the main problem is with the toy. I think that there is not enough room in the main fuselage. That might be an oversight in the VF-2SS design so that a real life, transformable toy of the Valkyrie II can't recreate line art. After looking at the line art it seems that the cover for the head, the backpack and the arms should be roughly at the same height resulting in a sleek undercarriage: On the ET version there are many different height levels. For example the arms hang to low resulting in massive gaps in the toy as well as the weird head cover that is creating by folding a part of the backpack down. This also results in the head cover being too long in Gerwalk- and Battroid-Mode: This also leads to the wings bars for the legs being not far enough inside fuselage. I think the bars should be hidden behind the secondary intakes and the the area under the cockpit where the swing bars are mounted should be covered by another panel. This way the underside would be much sleeker and the fin would sit much closer to the head turret: Someone that has more knowledge of the VF-2SS design can chime in an correct me but I think the way it looks now is not correct. After outing myself as a huge nerd I have to say that the main problem of the toy is the missing detail. The secondary intakes are not painted. The missing cockpit detailing, the plain landing gear. All this makes the toy not look like a collectible (going by its MSRP it should be that) but rather a model-kit. And not one of the awesome snap-fit gunpla kits.
  4. So is Kahen Sentoki translated directly into Variable Fighter (that is was Google Translate yields as a result) or does it have an alternative meaning. Also don't forget the XB-70 (X for eXperimental): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_XB-70_Valkyrie.
  5. It stands for Bariaburu Faita (or Variable Fighter): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable_fighter For the etymology of the word you need the help of one of the many Macross scholars on this site. [edit:] I would assume they started from the USAF designation of fighter-jets (like F-16) said that if should sound similar and ended up with VF. For Macross Plus they needed than a designation for the prototypes so they went back to the root of the VF term and ended up with YF (like YF-23) for them. I'm sure someone will chime in with actual sources where the name originated from so take my crazy theories with a grain of salt.
  6. The question is if there are any Valkyries out there that have enough demand to legitimate a 1/60th PT high-end toy that hasn't been done by Yamato/Arcadia. If you look at Arcadia releases they are all Valkyries that have been done previously by Yamato (even if the VF-0D was first it is a variant of the of the VF-0A/S). I would say no. The only one that has the potential would be a VF-5000 due to its appearance in the Macross Dynamite 7. Than again it wasn't the heroes vehicle so who knows. Releasing a V3 VF-1 might be a risk because the collectors are decked out with the V2 which is a strong representation of the original Valkyrie. Maybe the sales for the VF-1 reissues from Arcadia weren't that strong to warrant even the release of the rest of Skull Squadron let alone a complete new VF-1 mold. A overhaul of the YF-21 seems also risky because the only repaint potential are the VF-22S that shelf-warmed massively with the last iteration of the toy. I think a release of the SDF-1 TV-Version would be possible because it is likely that Arcadia has the Yamato molds and designing two ships doesn't seem that hard. A very limited made to order run of the VF-11B/C might also be possible given the after market value of the VF-11C but I don't see enough potential buyers for a full production run. What would be cool would be a VF-11MAXL (might sell because of Mylene) that result in a new VF-11B/C as a remold similar to the VF-0D -> VF-0A/S. Maybe Arcadia is hoping that Bandai let go the Frontier license.
  7. Can't wait. I'm looking forward if the announce their plans for the Blue Frame.
  8. I think this is a sound schedule. If the rumors jenius posted about the missing licenses are true this might buy Arcadia some time and generate funds to acquire them for further releases.
  9. Those pictures look awesome and are the first depictions of the LED-lit frame that somewhat sell the feature to me. Still not a huge fan of it (the same goes for the translucent parts). Great pictures though! Thanks for sharing.
  10. I'm quite pleased with the release. Sure I'd prefer a FB2012 (I like the color scheme of the VF-X version) release and I don't like the design of the head turret (no head lasers? Come on!) but it is a great looking Valkyrie toy and from the reviews I've seen it looks super fun and quality. Of course there are some areas that would benefit from improvements but overall I'm looking forward to it. Some small improvements I could think of: Locking points for the various wings and canards Locking forearms and integrated articulated hands Wider inner forearms Missiles that stay in place during transformation Integrated gunpod Solid joints in the arms but not too stiff to cause breakage I don't think that are big changes and we will probably get the missiles and stiffer joints if Arcadias fit and finish is any indication. Keeping the other Arcadia reissues of Yamato molds in mind I don't think we get any other differences (maybe less markings ). Rotating shoulders would be great but I think for that the whole toy had to be redesigned because there is a metal strut running through the fuselage in this area. I'm hyped for the release!
  11. It doesn't. Arcadia will have to change something on the original molds if the gunpod is included. I firmly believe that the only showing that the VF-4G comes with articulated hands that aren't integrated into the transformation of the Valkyrie (because the forearms are too slim).
  12. I'd have Bandai reissuing the regular MB Destiny (along with the Gundam00 suits). Second market prices aren't easy on the eyes nowadays.
  13. In addition to my criticism earlier I want to add another point. The fact that all the parts seem to be not attaching firmly is a major concern for me. The fact that the arms don't align in Fighter-Mode and have a wonky angle makes me think that this toy will be a floppy mess in Fighter-Mode. The legs also seem to droop in different angles. Basically the criticism goes on and on and on. I can see the comparison between this and the V1 VF-1 from Yamato and the V1 VF-25 from Bandai. The sad part is that Evolution Toys won't do a second version of this. Also none of the two V1 looks as unappealing as this. Looking at the comparison pictures doesn't make it better. Why are there gaps in the forearms and those weird cups (where the hands are pegged in I assume) that have all the gaps around them so you can see right through them. Comparing it to the images over at the Macross Mecha Manual this area is is not defined so you could design a nice gray rectangle with some vent detailing that conceals the area. This in addition to the hinges on the nacelles that are an eyesore, the unfaithful transformation in Gerwalk-Mode, the cheap looking plastic (that will probably yellow ) it is not very appealing. I could see an additional SAP Pack could help with the missing bulk, the gaps and the alignment issues but it seems the chances of getting it are next to zero. From the reports on the Speaker Podcast it seems that Evolution toys was quite enthusiastic for this project which makes me wonder how this could pass. The only hope for improvements that I have now is that a major wave of cancellations would force the retailers to demand changes to the product if they want to sell it through their outlets. However that might also lead to the whole project to be shelfed. On the other hand if they already cut the steel molds for this that it will come out as shown in this pictures. SAVE us! I recognize that I'm slowly transforming to THAT person on a toy message board that can't be satisfied no matter what.
  14. I also don't know what to say. I think I never thought that a gray prototype looks petter than the production plastic. I think my main criticism would be the lack of mass. The whole toy is just too lanky. It needs to bulk up and I think all three modes would benefit from it. The pictures remind me of the Yamato 1/72 YF-19 with all the gaps. It really looks like a small model-kit with the unpainted cockpit and the landing gear. I think a Bandai model-kit couldn't look worse if I would build it. In fact looking at my Sazabi Ver. Ka it would probably look a loot better. I really disappointed but for now I'm keeping my preorder because I really want a VF-2SS.... ...but not this one. [edit:] What is really sad is that I can totally see this think shelf warming to an extend where I could get one on a HLJ sale for like 90% off so why keep the preorder? I mean this will be the only VF-2SS ever produced in this scale so my support won't change anything. Maybe it is to keep the dream alive for the SAP packs and a V2/Renewal version.
  15. I wonder if it would be possible to cancel it and than order it again in the release month. At least the Tamashii items I've preordered from them never sold out and where readily available after release. Of course this was only applicable for Sailor Moon S.H.Figuarts and DX Chogokin toys so it might be a totally different case for the Hulkbuster. I'm also looking for a store that has the pay later option because next month there should be the Metal Buld Red Frame coming and I don't want to pay when I order it first day but I don't want to pass on it either so not preordering would be kinda risky.
  16. I have a quick question regarding the brown Tamashii Web Shop shipping boxes. Is there any value in keeping does? At the moment I'm trying to sort my boxes and pack them into bigger boxes. The thing is without the brown shipping box I can fit two of the Bandai boxes side by side. So now I'm debating if I should keep the brown outer box. I want to know if Bandai Web Shop are higher priced if they have the shipping box. At the moment I'm thinking about flattening the outer box and store them somewhere else.

It is that way in the line art: (courtesy of M³: http://www.macross2.net/m3/sdfmacross/vf-1j-gbp.htm)
  18. Hobbylink TV released a couple of videos for the PG Banshee Norn. Here you can see it assembled: I question Bandais decision to make the wiring and the casing for the LEDs in white. I understand why you would to it for the Unicorn (because it is mainly white) but it really stands out on the Banshee because there are no other white parts. I think if they went with the dark gray frame color it would blend in much better with both variants of the kit. Can some expert in the Unicorn Gundam explain the differences of the PG Kit with the Fix Figuration toy. I think the PG looks good in Destroy-Mode where the Fix Figuration looks to lanky especially in the legs. I kinda have a love hate relationship with the suit. It looks always intriguing to me but some parts always prevent it from looking perfect. For the Gunpla kits its mostly the color of the translucent Psycho Frame parts. They never pop compared with the Nu Gundam where the translucent parts are backed by a silver foil sticker. On the Fix Figuration toys I really like the look of the parts on the Awakening versions but the proportions seems of so that I'm nor really convinced that I should pick one up. Only the Robot Damashii versions with the sparkling paint for the Psycho Frame seem to satisfy me on all levels with the exception that they don't transform. Maybe I should build a PG Unicorn and paint the translucent part with the sparkling teal paint..... ...but the kit only has stickers and no water slide decals.
  19. Also: (Courtesy of M³: http://www.macross2.net/m3/m3-index.htm)
  20. Yeah I know but I'm not a big model kit builder so I would prefer a stock head turret that looks like the one from Kurisama.
  21. I'm in for one. I would prefer a FB2012 version though. The head for the VF-4G is just too smooth looking so I would prefer a release with a different head turret.
  22. As far as I remember Takara had the first MP designed up to this stage that you see in Treatments picture. After that Kawamori was brought in to finish the design.
  23. I don't think that the muzzle will parts form because you can see a mechanism (yellow) that connects the backpack to the muzzle. Also I think that the muzzle can slide back to shorten it (magenta) Maybe the stand is also attached to the to the mechanism that connects the muzzle to the main body so that it is a perfect transformation toy. Personally I don't like the stand that slips over the muzzle because it make the backpack to big. I really like the color of the panels on the side of the legs. I never really like the look of the blank metal on Quakewave because it stands out from the rest of the Masterpiece Transformers. Overall I think this will be a better Shockwave than all the other versions. Maybe I will order a Cloud 9 Quakeblast to complete the Shockwave triptych.
  24. The last releases from Yamato where quite expensive (VF-19/17/4G) so I think that the price hike won't be that much compared to the YF-19 and the M0 Valkyries especially since the molds for the VF-4 already exists. Of course we can't be sure that the image really shows a perfect transformation 1/60th scale VF-4.
