VF-11 Custom (LEGO)

I like your enthusiasm, but I think you need to do a bit more than throw extra parts onto an F-16 kit to make it a VF-11. -
Obscure F-14 trivia

Ahhh... the TU-4 "Bull"... -
Sweet! A little con-crit: The upper left arm is very thin, and the legs should be a bit more shapely. But excellent work nonetheless. Great shading skills. The lips are a bt too much, but that's just personal opinion.

p.s.- Which photshop do you have? I'm not sure which ones do, but the one I have came with ImageReady, Adobe's little .gif animation program that works wonder with Photoshop, as you can see by my avatar. -

Nice, but why did you trace it into dot matrix? It looks so pixelated! -

Obscure F-14 trivia
the white drew carey replied to Skull Leader's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Actually they did salvage the Tomcat later. I saw pictures of it. I have to find it. I read that it was an expensive operation as well. Funny they spent that much money to prevent it from falling into USSR hands only to have the only country that the f-14 was exported to go revolutionary and be friendly with comunist states. Yeah, about two months after the NR-1 found it, the British trawler Boston Halifax snagged it twice with her steel trawl but the net broke upon raising it. Finally two West German salvage boats got it up. First they spun out a steel cable between them and then ran it along the bottom until it snagged the F-14. Then one of the did circles around the site and lay cable out to wrap up the F-14, after which they dropped a 50 ton shackle down to tighten the knot and then lifted it to about 500 feet of the surface. After that they towed it 80 miles to shallower and calmer waters so that hard hat diver could get to it. Pretty hard work for one plane, eh? -
Obscure F-14 trivia

Re: Dead Goose- Also, considering that the F-14 was supposed to be in a flat-spin, the canopy wouldn't have been anywhere near them when they ejected, as they would've rotated, dropped and probably moved away in another direction. As to Godzilla's obscure fact: Although keeping the F-14 out of Soviet hands was important, the U.S. was more concerned about the brand-new, top-secret Pheonix missile attached to the F-14 when it went over. I recently read DARK WATERS, a book about the history of the NR-1, the Navy's little nuclear reasearch submarine (research= legitimate science as well as black ops). What happened is that there are a bunch of reporters on the Kennedy for Press Day during NATO exercises... and the Pheonix is brand new. As the pilot was taxiing (sp?) off the F-14 suddenly accelerated off of the aircraft carrier (later determined to be a stuck throttle). While the pilot and RIO were able to safely eject, the plane, and the U.S.'s new super-secret missile were lost in thousands of feet of water. Not only did the press report this, but Soviet spy ships (trawlers outfitted with a whole assortment of electronics gear) were in the area and knew this happened. So the NR-1 was called over to Scotland to begin searching for the Navy's new plane and missile before the Soviets try to grap it with one of their trawler nets. The NR-1 searched the area and found nothing. Technicians pointed out that, because the wings were swept forward, their was a strong possibility that the plane "flew" to the bottom instead of sank straight down, which extended the serach area a couple hundred square miles more. Also, they pointed out that recovery should be easy since the plane probably touched down on it's landing gears and was probably just sitting normal down there waiting for someone to find it. Needless to say, the NR-1 found a long furrow in the mud and followed it to the F-14, flipped upside down and entangled in a bunch of, presumably, Soviet nets. And the Pheonix missile was missing. After several aborted attempts to raise the plane, the NR-1 finally took pictures of the cockpit in hopes that the techs could analyze the controls and see what went wrong, and went off in search of the missing missile. They eventually found the missile as well, although need-to-know meant that no one had told the crew of the NR-1 that they were looking for a very large missile, so they kept dinking around looking for a sidewinder. Just a little tidbit. -
Do the math... Look at her helmet. Look at her head. Now try to put her head in her helmet. Head + Helmet = Crushed head.

The real deal with Harmony Gold and DYRL

Now that is terribly funny! -
No. They are small Gashapon made out of some type of rubber, and they're terribly cute. I have a set or two that Blackaces found for me a long time ago. He also found me the Patlabor set, which is awesome as well.

The real deal with Harmony Gold and DYRL

They've been caught before. This is just another example of them not covering their lies very well. But in typical HG fashion, they'll just ignore the inconsistencies in their story, and any questioning thereof, and move along. p.s.- Cognitive Dissonance... I like it. It would make a great band name. -
The real deal with Harmony Gold and DYRL
the white drew carey replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Movies and TV Series
I don't doubt that TP animated the movie, but I don't see what this has to do with anything. Pixar animated all those nice CGI movies, yet Disney still basically owns them. DYRL was BigWest's project and to state otherwise is folly.* This statement is a tad inaccurate. BW/Studio Nue/MBS DID pay Tatsunoko Productions, and work started on the show. It wasn't until about the 3rd or 4th episode (IIRC), when TP said it was costing too much and they needed something more in order to continue. THAT is when TP was granted int'l distribution rights and certain merch rights as well. What did BigWest and the boys get for it? Some good work, true. Some really good work, yeah. But also A LOT of some of the crappiest animation and artwork for the time. Yeah, this statement is COMPLETELY wrong. The show was well into it's run, (maybe even over) by the time TP actually sold the Int'l rights to anyone. Stop messing with the new kid's heads. *p.s.- Never use the phrase "Here's the truth..." when listing facts. Truth is subjective to ones viewpoint, facts are solid information. Truth: Robotech Sucks. Fact: Robotech has caused a strong and varied reaction from anime fans over the years. -

LOL! I'm in the same boat as RADD on this. A little bit of history for kids who don't know: 2 years ago at AX, HG held their Robotech panel which included forthcoming designs from RT 2004 (now "Shadow Force"), and little presentions in several things, including the SDF: Macross release. It was a fairly straightforward and nothing terribly exciting happened. It wasn't until the Q&A session that things heated up. Obviously HG trolled MW and found out that many members would be attending with questions in hand, particularly about HG's claims of ownership. Tommy Yune replied with a well-planned and choreographed presentation including graphs and such on the overhead projector, in complete anticipation of any challenges to their claims. So why are most Macross fans pissed at HG? Because half of the stuff he said makes no sense and, as I said earlier, was simply designed to placate RT fans who feared that their show would be forever lost. Legally and Logically, what HG said made little or no sense- Not only the specifics of the deal, but the fact that HG themselves showed a complete misunderstanding of all types of ownership law. (see the licensing debate thread for more fun. a full transcript of that event is somewhere in there). Fast-Foward 2 years and HG is now claiming some long-lost clause regarding DYRL gives them the merchandising rights to DYRL toys. Therefore neatly circumventing any and all claims that the DYRL valks, redesigned AFTER the original contract between BW and TP which, in turn, granted HG certain merchandising rights to the TV series. Surprisingly, it wasn't until after HG made their initial claims and it was argued back that their agreement with TP doesn't cover DYRL that this part of the "DYRL Agreement" is discovered. You can see why many of us who have been following this for years are leery of HG's suddenly-found information. -

Question: Was this announced by HG themselves at the RT panel? I take this little bit of information as highly suspect. I still remember their claims at AX and SDCC in 2002 which was just hot air to placate worried RT fans. -
Hey Vecrtomat, I think your side view is a little of. The way I think of it, the VFX-4 still pertains the same nose/cockpit design as the VF-1. The sideview you've posted looks a tad up-turned and round. Amore fun design would be the original test-bed as seen in Perfect Memory. I always thought that would be a grand mod.

OK. so your showing us an M-16 with a lot of old school sci-fi b-movie crap thrown on it! Seriously. I like your enthusiasm, but this is a MACROSS forum, and the Mods have kindly let a dedicated weapons thread continue, so post stuff like this there. Because this weapon is neither sci-fi, nor anime. -

Varuata Forces Ship Size Comparison Diagram

That chart is, visually, way off. The second ship is supposed to be much less than half the size of the first, yet the drawing itself is about half the size. -
Cool.
