  1. Well, WES, here's the thing: I have always thought it was complete idiocy when people yelled out "Adama's a cylon, Adama's a cylon," and thought that their rationale was weak, at best. But after seeing Razor, I wouldn't be surprised if that is a direction they go in (although I really, really hope not). Regretfully, it does the opposite of putting the final nail in the coffin, but opens the coffin up a bit more. It would be best if it is misdirection but there IS something there when Will Adama says that. I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at with the last sentence but I'm thinking you mean work on the skinjobs. But there is still a very big hole where the explanation of the history of the Final Five should be. Its entirely possible that they existed even before man created the "toaster" cylons, and if Adama is one of them (once again, God forbid), it would play into the whole Final Five mythos they've been setting up.
  2. Actually that would be extremely funny. Oh, Kalvasflam, Apaches did a crap job in Godzilla ("Oh, I have this vehicle that goes up and down very easily, but I'll just stay at a height where the monster can crash through a building and knock me down and/or crouch and then jump up and eat me when I fly overhead.") But, then again, that was through the incompetence of the writing/directing team who simply cannot and/or refuse to research military tactics before making their films.
  3. Well, back when I started this I was editing links into the first post, but then servers got switched, images got ditched, and my old HD went kablooey taking my lineart with it. Maybe I should start scrounging for the images and start putting links on the front page again? Mr March, great looking stuff. Very clean! I like the cel-shaded look.
  4. OK, I'm tard when it compared to people like David, but I would expect that the S-3/P-3 replacement would be something a little more rugged. Don't those planes get subjected to a lot of bumps and bangs when/if they're working at low altitude for extended periods? I just can't see an the 737 doing this.
  5. Wow, prometheum5, you're REALLY gunning for a fight here! Of course, I don't mean that because of your dislike of Appleseed. You're more than entitled to your opinion which you support with specific reasons. Although I must mention that some of the points you make seem more to be based on ignorance since you obviously didn't watch the same movie. I'm not going to try defending it because, based on the rant of your post, nothing anyone can say is going to change your mind on that point. But why are you calling people out to say you're dumb? The only dumb thing you did was call people out as if you're looking for a fight in the first place. Personally, I enjoyed the film. Although, like most Appleseed fans, I truly wish it was more like the manga, but for a condensed version... I thought it wasn't too bad. As for the CGI and cel-shaded characters? That's purely a matter of taste, one that either worked fabulously for the film-makers or stabbed them in the foot (there seems to be no middle ground amongst viewers). Several things to note that may clear some stuff up for you: -Briareos IS human. Just highly cyberneticised. He is not a robot. IIRC, most of his internal organs still exist, but are assisted by machinery. -The platforms are there all along. You must have missed it in the beginning when they are flying into Olympus and Briareos gets to play the cabbage-head by having Hitomi casually mention that they will be shot out of the sky if they don't pass IFF. - I don't think its a case of "make sh!t up as we go along" as much as it is "try to condense four graphic novels of well thought-out plot into two hours of movie." Hence, they made changes, compressed the story and, in some places, simply made new stuff up. Major elements from the movie do show up in the manga, but they happen over time.
  6. Someone on www.artwanted.com posted this photo that I thought was pretty cool: Here's the actual page: http://www.artwanted.com/imageview.cfm?id=...SaveComment=Yes
  7. We also have to bear in mind that, the last time they negotiated in '88, the Writers Guild had to wrangle for residuals from VHS. Now it's DVD and online content. "This has happened before, it will happen again."
  8. James, that's not very low-viz, now is it? What program are you using to color these? It looks kind of choppy.
  9. Wait a sec... If the rumors are true that BSG Season 4 isn't going to air until April-ish, could it be because the production staff wanted to focus on getting the scripts for all of the episodes penned down and finalized before the writer's strike?
  10. Yeah. This link from earlier in the thread shows that the leg slats open and close, and the knife fits into the sheath on the back. The only thing it doesn't have (and probably never will), is the opening and closing head. Revoltech seems to have found it easier to provide two separate heads in instances like that.
  11. Yeah. I might have very liberal tendencies in a lot of my politics, but one of them is not when it regards the military. Most liberals and left-wingers have very bad ideas when it comes to how the mlitary should be organized and what it's mission should truly be.
  12. Go with modchip. They haven't done me wrong.
  13. Awesome! I know there's probably easier ways to find this, but once the 2nd video said the base was outside of Esfahan, I did some Google Earthin' and, sure enough, you can see an F-14 on the ground at the airbase east of the city.
  14. Becauswe the retailers wouldn't go for that. If you walked in, bought an HD player and then got 5 free discs right there in-store, chances are you wouldn't actually purchase any on that visit. Retailer wants your money, so if you go in and get no free discs right there, you'll most likely buy at least one.
  15. That's what I thought, too. When HLJ took photos of it way back when, it had that appearance as well. ???
  16. Eh, I rarely ever look at the extras on any DVD I buy, except maybe for bloopers and deleted scenes. If they want to stack it, they should release a bare-bones version for people like me right away and then take their sweet old time with the uber-edition.
  17. Yeah, but the UK has had Season 3 on DVD since September 3rd, so that kind of throws that explanation out the window.
  18. Well, that's a very general statement. It wouldn't be surprising if there were many "particulars" in the purchase agreement. Also, I would think (although I could be wrong) that EA wouldn't want to shoot themselves in the foot if it looks like the KOTOR MMO will be a big asset.
  19. Call me a sucker, but the main driving force right now behind my desire to get a PS3 is, beside the blu-ray and stuff, because I want to play Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. And I'd prefer not to get an Xbox 360 just for that.
  20. *Jealous* Now all we need is the S3 DVDs and I'll be happy!
  21. A quick sample of Amazon Japan put the 300 Blu-Ray edition at about $33, $23 here in the states. But bear in mind that the US release was 7/31, and Japan's was 09/26, so it's still fairly new over there. Of course, that probably isn't indicative of every title.
  22. PS1 and PS2 games are still restricted by the original region coding. Here's the Blu-Ray Disc region coding (for movies):
  23. The screams were chilling, but I'm a bit disappointed overall. I may be wrong, but I would think an explosion and destruction like that would've knocked out just about every system on the ship. No more signals, yo.
  24. Oh, yeah, but if you do click on the link and go down a bit, you'll see a video about morphing helicopter blades. The husband of one of my co-workers works at the engineering lab where they are designin all types of wonky new helicopter rotors. That's all he does all day. Pretty cool guy, even though he can't talk about 90% of what he does there...
