  1. Man... I have a Yamato VF-1S Roy Focker 1/48 (that I bought back in 2004, I think). Anyways, I guess the joints have become loose enough to the point that the thing barely stands on its own (in battroid mode) with the Strike Armor parts... Usually starts fall on its back. So I have to lean him against the wall... Anyone have this same problem? Since it was my first 1/48, I admit I probably transformed him several times, etc. (at least). I'm not so sure if it's the joints at the hips; probably moreso the joints at the V-feet... Been bugging the heck out of me! Any "repairs" to make those joints tighter; or any other tricks of the trade? Thanks.
  2. There was a Macross DVD set (TV) being sold at valkyrie-exchange.com. Has anyone bought the set from him? I know, I know... (they're probably not original!) BUT, they're cheaper than the Animego versions. Basically, was wondering what the quality AND subtitles were like on the particular set that he had in stock. If anyone has ordered these please let me know. Thanks in advance! =) Been watching ROBOTECH lately... you now, the dubbing isn't bad; and the music is, for the most part, awesome (except a few tunes that get kinda annoying...)...
  3. I agree. But, let's think a little realistically... unless he's a fan of the series (which is very possible he's at least a fan of Robotech), there's no way they'd get a hot shot A-list guy like Brad Pitt to be in a Macross flick. But you're right, he'd make an EXCELLENT Roy. I think it would be cool if the main role of Hikaru actually went to a Japanese dude.
  4. Why would you want someone to lock this thread?
  5. Thanks. As far as choosing actors, I was basically doing google searches and choosing the first few I'd come across. The misa girl? I don't know. Just some random asian chick I came across. But the girl who plays Minmay is a popular Korean actress: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZdJNdGyNOTM&feature=related She's basically the only one I would choose for a Minmay... the rest are just rushes! =) P.S. That Henry J Global above would be a great choice.
  6. ... but I couldn't resist... Since the original post was locked... I spent a few hours on this. I was gonna do a really REALLY good one (like, spend days on it), but I couldn't invest any more time. Good catch for those who knew it was the work of a low budget filipino. Thanks, to those who thought it was real. =) All in fun, folks. All in fun.
  7. I was gonna say the same thing but... I never seen that SDF picture before.
  8. Looks like some straight-to-dvd crap if you ask me. Can someone confirm this? =)
  9. I want you guys to remember one thing... ROBOTECH. If you have anyone to see, please do it tonight.
  10. Man, other than the gap between the legs, that toy looks incredible!!! That gap just always bothers me... looks like a wishbone. And the size... !!! What's with all these companies making everything small these days. I guess it's true what they say about Asians! (that was bad... but I'm just aggravated. Sorry!) But the recent pictures make me want to buy one. I don't have any other choice if I want a cool looking Macross figure. This movie color looks way better than the last one. Is the color the only difference? The arms look a little different... but that's probably just me.
  11. That Gradius game looks cool. I never even owned a PS2 though!! I know they're super cheap now. I've played the others... you know, Life Force, etc. I'm not familiar with the company Treasure, though I trust your judgement. I've never been satisfied with any Macross/Robotech game (I haven't played all, but most). Macross: DYRL (Playstation Import): Great graphics. Great audio. You'd think it would be the ultimate side-scrolling game, but the game play and overall execution is kinda generic. Not challenging at all. It's as if you're just guiding a game that plays itself. VF games for PS or whatever: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I never played the sequel. Why bother. Robotech: Invasion: What a load of crap. lol! I'm getting sick of any product affiliated with "Robotech". There's a reason this game is found used for $5 at your local filipino mart. Robotech: Whatever the title was to the first one (with the valks). You know, I never really played it. I think I played it for 5 minutes and just lost interest. Like I really wanna play some made up character from the mind of some Korean guy from Robotech.com. Macross Game of PS2: I still haven't played this. How is it? Honestly. Get your Macross fan mentality out of the gutter and tell me how this game really is... someone? Robotech game for GBA: From what I remember, it was okay, but... too hard! (in a, "these guys don't know what they're doing" kind of way) I love challenging games... but this one just got on your nerves. It's just tedious. Like, you couldn't build yourself to get better at it; at one point, enemy bullets are flying everywhere on the muther fking screen! Another "Robotech" quality product. :/ Great attitude I have, eh? That new Larry game, is it for xbox/xbox 360? That's the only console i own!
  12. WAY better. I'm not sure if it was just my age, but damn, you really felt like you were in an alternate world playing some of those Sierra games. Police Quest, LSL and stuff like that. Come to think of it, back in the day when freeware/shareware was still mail-order (before the internet), I remember playing a "homemade" Mospeada game called REFLEX POINT. It was basically a side-scroller where each level had you as a bike or Legioss fighting off invid. I doubt there are pictures of it anywhere because it was totally obscure freeware.
  13. Never had that trouble. Not on Thexder at least. =) But I remember playing Leisure Suit Larry, getting really far into the game, then finding out that disk 5 of 6 is unreadable! lol =) Computers have come a long way.
  14. Can someone explain what is so custom about it?
  15. I think they have one bigger than that; only it is made out of cardboard. =) (and it doesn't transform)...
  16. Yeah, i guess that makes some sense. =) Yeah, I'm not feeling those recently released SDF1 toys either. I'm not digging the way they look, and they're too small and pricey for their size. The ONLY macross toy you truly get your money's worth for are 1/48's... though they're just plastic, they're HUGE, well-made and look awesome!

    Macross Revoltech

Not a fan of the Revo's.... too small, and WAY overpriced. They do look cool. (I know, cheap contribution to this thread) However, I do like how they made the Regult's to scale compared to the VFs. That's cool. =) There's a cool review on youtube.
  18. That's what I meant. I guess I was just trying to say - keep it as close as the series/movie without trying to make it look gritty and real (you know, all those detaily-details, like in the movie).... Thanks for correcting me on some of that stuff. Still, there's still no reason they could have made the Transformers, like Prime and Megatron, look like we remember them. You know, a gun and a flatnose red rig.
  19. The only downfall to that is: What if the toy/design sucked? As they did with Transformers, they might shy away from the look and design we love. They might scrap the initial concept of the Valkyrie all together and give us a new look (ie Optimus Prime in transformers); hence, new toys. Even if Bandai plays a big part in designing them, they could easily come out all wack (we all know that bandai can design some crappy stuff). I don't want my VF looking like any of those DreamWorks Transformers characters, i want it to look just like a valk and don't change a damn thing. If there's one thing I learned about cartoons-to-movies, the fans who want to see a faithful translation NEVER have a say. It all comes down to the studio: "We don't want Optimus Prime to be a flatnose red truck; we want him to look like an alien-robot"... "We don't want Bumblebee to be a VW... let's make him this"... hell, they might just get the same designers from the Transformers movie since it came out good (from the general audiences' opinion) and made a lot of money. I'd hate to see that. To me, the Transformers movie wasnn't the Transformers... they missed it by miles. And getting OP's original voice doesn't make it right. It's a visual thing, man! I haven't watched it, but I think Speed Racer: The Movie had the right idea to stay true to the game. Looks just like the cartoon, designs, characters, etc. (I guess it helps that the studio give the Wachowski Brothers TOTAL creative freedom because of their successful directing power with The Matrix series)... I wouldn't mind seeing a Robotech/Macross movie with that sorta true "cartoony" look. Of course it would be a little more grittier since we're talking about Macross, and not Speed Racer. I'm game for them. But I agree, they should evolve that toy instead of keeping it the same. Take that chunky monkey and make it look better with the same engineering and sturdiness (or keep it close to it!). I know the 'chunky look' plays a big part in why the toy is so solid; but it can be done. You mean to tell me that they can't thing of anything else to enhance that thing... after, what, almost 25 years?? Yamato was able to evolve; from their first 1/60 to the current... that's a big jump. And I know the 1/48 is nowhere near as sturdy as the chunkies, but with some evolution, it could become that way -- though I admit, I'm happy with them right now, other than a few parts that should be metal. It's cool though... these days, they do their job looking pretty... BTW, I've asked this question before (but I can't find my question hidden in a thread), but how come they never made a toy for Macross II (Lovers Again). I'm aware that the movie is the worse in the series, but the valk looks pretty sweet. This forum moves too fast... That's not cool, man! That's not cool!!!
  20. That's right! I forgot about Zillion II and the "ride armor" in that game. I actually played Zillion I... but never part II. Good one, man. You're just as low budget as I am. =)
  21. i realize it's different... It's been a white since I watched the series; but WHY was his hardware different from the others'?
  22. Finally got the Ray and Stick MH Ride Armors.... Quick rundown: (and all this stuff you've probably read about, but I'll repeat it anyways!) Pros: - They look marvelous! Head sculpts are dead on. - Great colors. More of griddy look than CM's bright colors. - Poseable as hell. Cons: - Not a surprise to anyone, but the transformation is a lot of work. Pieces poppin' off, etc. (really small pieces, that is) - More of a manufacturer packing/defect: Both toys were missing some parts. Ray was missing a handlebar. Stick was missing a peg. (this happen to anyone else?? WTF? ) - No sticker sheet. Again, no surprise. - Small tires (but this doesn't bother me too much) Bonus Con: I'm gonna blame UPS, but my boxes are all dented up. Oh well. You win some, you lose some. I'm gonna get LANCE for sure. And when Houquet comes around, you bet your a$$ I'll get one too. P.S. Why is Lance's armor the only one to have missiles on the chest?
  23. The one I'm talking about went for $162 I think. Bummer. Oh, and another auction ended: ROBOTECH/MACROSS- MAC ll DESTROID CANNON (Matchbox) MIB... Only fifty bucks. Yeah, I remember getting a Red Legioss (Matchbox) from Kaybee for 9.99 clearance.
