I believe it was one of those American made but animated in Japan cartoons. The animation quality did change during some episodes so I don't know if it was a lesser Japanese team that did some episodes or an animation company from another country. Many modern anime are like that at times when you can see there is a different team working on episodes. There is a website that pointed out the differences between some of the Saber Rider episodes that were made for US audiences. Like how April looks a bit different compared to the Japanese version. I thought I had more Galaxy Rangers comic stuff saved but I could only find this Niko image so far. Other images might be still unsorted as I'm behind on stuff.

I've posted a few times about Galaxy Rangers. It was one of those cool 80s cartoons with a great opening sequence. They put out a really nice two volume DVD set with illustrated booklets some time ago. I recall being upset that Animeigo couldn't do something even close for Bubblegum Crisis. Galaxy Rangers and Saber Rider had that cool Space Western thing going. I still search for cels and items for both shows on occasion. A Saber Rider game is supposed to be coming out but Galaxy Rangers interest seems to have died off. The Rangers website and forum went down some years ago. There were a few fansites but I haven't searched for those in a while. Perhaps they or the people moved to Facebook? Back when the DVD sets came out there was talk about comics and other items. I got a few of the badges that they had at New York Comic Con. I think I saved some of the comic concept artwork. If I can find it, I'll post if people are interested. I can't remember the Thundercats reboot that much. I recall liking the first bunch of episodes and the art style. But kind of zoning out towards the end. Maybe I'll rewatch it someday. I can't remember that Silverhawks reference but I do remember the reboot getting kind of strange towards the end with I think some kind of tech tower.

Akai Koudan Zillion & The Acquisition of a Grail

I'm glad they made a girl character first unlike what other companies keep doing with Mospeada. But I would be surprised if we don't get at least JJ after Apple. -

I have the old Unifive I think version. They made two in different colors and side options. That one has the vehicles fit in the compartments. Looking forward to seeing more updates on this one though. -
Ghost in the Shell Live Action - March 31, 2017
JetJockey replied to Mechinyun's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah. It is obvious where Motoko is from to anyone who has watched all of the series. And they actually added that scene with another character because like that stupid people on the streets in Japan video, they thought that would make things better. I saw it as well and didn't pay. And it's like those reviews I posted. A very flat movie. The sort of movie that shows it's made just for profits like I assumed in the beginning. And anything that you think is somewhat good in the movie is far better in the originals. I would review it but it's not worth my time. And for the person that asked about box office totals, I think it's finished now as no updates for about a week. And if no one believed it was a flop before you can really see by the numbers now when you compare it to what they thought it would make from previous articles. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=main&id=ghostintheshell2017.htm- 751 replies

Ghost in the Shell Live Action - March 31, 2017
JetJockey replied to Mechinyun's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Scarlett herself in a recent talk basically said the movie was a flop a few weeks ago. So even though it's still in theaters it's not making what they expected. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/jon-favreau-lion-king-fans-expectations-scarlett-johansson-ghost-shell-woes-tribeca-2017-9966 It's not breaking even. Too many people wrongly assume box office total gross = what the production companies are getting without other costs. Which is wrong. This isn't pulling a profit. Even with DVD, Blu-ray, Cable, and other sales. It might not even make the projected $200 Million in theaters which would make it even more of a flop. Additionally, this isn't like a Star Wars that pays for itself even before release with toy and merchandise deals / revenue. As far as I know there are only high end figures and statues coming out. Very little in the way of merchandise for this movie. The only way this gets a sequel is if Hollywood says we really don't care about money.- 751 replies

Ghost in the Shell Live Action - March 31, 2017
JetJockey replied to Mechinyun's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I kept my word since whenever I last posted here and will watch the movie for free someday. I probably won't post a review as from what I've heard it's pretty bad if you are a fan of Motoko Kusanagi. Yes a fan. I remember getting into it with someone here before about what fans will accept. It's like the people behind the movie didn't care about the "casting" issue and made things even worse with a character reveal thus showing their true feelings. Anyway, I found a few things to post / share. Fans of Motoko or series might find these worth watching. I found Happy Console Gamer's review interesting. I know I posted a few videos from him before. He's a big fan of anime, Macross, as well as Ghost in the Shell. These are good reviews too. She seems to be a fan and references things in the series. She made non-spoiler and spoiler reviews. Someone on Neogaf found this one. These guys had me cracking up. WARNING! THEY SPOIL THE TWIST AT THIS MOMENT! ALSO SWEARING WARNING! And the disappointment some actresses felt about the movie. It's worth a read since people like to post that on the street in Japan reaction. This interview is really honest. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/ghost-shell-4-japanese-actresses-dissect-movie-whitewashing-twist-990956 It's safe to say that at this point after last weekend's numbers that the movie is a financial flop. It will be lucky if it crawls to $50 million in the United States. Which honestly I'm happy about. I've never wanted a movie to fail before either. But all the bs and selling points going on around the Internet about how Hollywood works and why Scarlett was chosen were upsetting. Now people are still coming up with garbage about how Ghost in the Shell was never that good to begin with or the movie was never going to be profitable. Or it looks and sounds good, which is Tron Legacy all over again. It's all bs. I wish it was even more of a flop but they probably got lucky with the Hollywood marketing machine selling it. Too bad that machine couldn't work for the right reasons.- 751 replies

I'll wait till release and hopefully they will make a Rook version so I can get her mini cyclone as well. I'm still concerned though like another member mentioned that they didn't release a side profile picture of the Alpha in Fighter mode with the landing gear down. I've never seen a toy release with so many enhanced photos before. We'll see what this looks like. This has to be the best version. I don't see the point in making something that isn't better than what we've already seen.

I haven't been checking this topic and only found out about Mirage's release via a topic on Neogaf. I guess I assumed there would be a separate topic. But anyway for some reason the coloring looks off on the pre-order pictures. I see some posts here about it. These new pictures look closer to me though but apparently they are an older model. I guess this will be something I'll just wait to see what it actually looks like when released as I really liked the color in the anime. Or at least in the episodes I watched. I stopped at that Silent Hacker episode.

I like the girl on the far left. But I don't know what they have attached to their nips. I probably won't be able to get her. She's 1/4?! Any images next to other figures? I don't have any 1/4 anime girl figures. She looks really hot. The whole cop thing and fishnets. But I got an odd feeling about her design. Those heart symbols. What kind of police officer is she? And that gun. At first I thought it was an old style Nerf gun that would shoot those foam pieces. But then I started to do more research. This is a bad girl. She's so over the top that I'm still considering getting her as a hidden joke type figure. If so she would break my no cast off rule.

An Iczer-1 garage kit was released recently. I guess it's just ok. http://myfigurecollection.net/item/544335 But hopefully with that and the Blu-ray we can get a pre-painted figure soon.

I love the look of this with the lights. At night it will be a brilliant display. But I still would like to see if other versions will come out. I kind of assume they have to make a Max TV version. I would either want that or DYRL. But that could change if they made Misa or Minmay TV figures.

Someone on Neogaf started a Bubblegum Crisis topic. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=231252733 Apparently it's the 30th Anniversary of the anime. I would have started a new topic but this one has so little interest. But I guess the anniversary is why we are seeing the new toy.

Thanks for these. I guess it's possible that we might get these designs too if the first one is successful. And I can't read Kanji. I would have to get out my book and start looking them up.

I guess I grew up like many others here right around the end of the record / cassette tape time period. Although limited records are making a comeback. I know my first car had a cassette tape player. A CD player was a more expensive option then. Sadly I tossed the cassette player without care when I upgraded to an aftermarket Alpine CD player. I wish I kept the cassette player though just for nostalgia. Laserdisc was a quick and short period it seems. Who really wanted to buy a movie where you had to get up and flip a disc to finish the movie? And even those of us with VHS movies knew that things didn't look that good when you watched them a bunch of times or used the longest recording setting. I know I have some Macross VHS tapes recorded I think on EP? The longest setting which was like 4 hours or so. And they look rough. With cels, there are some people on Rubberslug and a couple galleries that managed to get good ones. A few collectors, I think girls / women, named Priss-chan and Nene have ridiculous collections. One of them actually has a hanken by Kenichi Sonoda. There were a few galleries from the old days of the Internet that I can't find anymore that had quality cels. Here is the site that has scans of the big B-Club book: http://www.ravensgarage.com/digital_bclub/crisisclub/ Some of the items we are talking about like the record, CD, and laserdisc covers. And garage kits and other figures. This is the best we had back then. Unpainted kits that needed to be assembled. Now we have amazing painted figures and statues in various scales. They call it a doll on the page but I would love to get a figure of Priss like that Semimotion doll.

I picked up the Revenge Road laserdisc and record for the covers a while ago. You can still get the laserdisc for cheap but the record is a bit expensive. It is a cool episode. And good cels with Priss and the Highway Star from that episode seem to be incredibly hard to find or collectors have them. I've only seen these.

The Highway Star? I know there are a few of the normal Motoslave. But I've never seen a released Highway Star before. Here is the Aoshima version. http://myfigurecollection.net/item/51902 This is the only figure I own by Atelier Sai. I vaguely recall that someone told me or I read that they were a small run. http://myfigurecollection.net/item/2981 I'm only missing the first small B-Club book. I remember searching for something related to Bubblegum Crisis once and found scans of the complete B-Club book.

I'm surprised a company hasn't made one yet. I think the light up Akira bike from a while ago goes for a lot of money now. A Highway Star with Priss would be another good one.

They could have used a different image like this one if it didn't transform. I'm assuming it will transform. Anyone or a moderator want to make this a Bubblegum Crisis Toys / Items topic? Where we can post other stuff like posters, cels, pencil cases, etc? I still look for stuff on occasion. This is the best I found recently. Sadly it was too expensive. But what do you expect for a one of a kind cel and background from the end of episode 5. Sylia in her undersuit / bikini probably helps too.

I hate the new tease and announcements for announcements thing that goes on these days. I'm old school. Give me a poster or ad for a toy that's coming out. Tell me the date and I'm fine till it's released. I would be happy with the new design Cyclone / Ride Armor in the standard color and one of the old design. Hopefully Rook's version. I just don't want to see what happened with Beagle again when they release the two guys and then shut down without the other two bikes. Anyone have that Mospeada Complete book? Any more details on that new version of the Ride Armor?

The one image with the original Ghost in the Shell movie Motoko Figma was confirmed fake. I thought the Bubblegum Crisis and Mospeada one is the real deal as it was at Wonder Festival. Also it made it on to the MyFigureCollection database. http://myfigurecollection.net/item/549580 So I assume someone there confirmed it. I can't imagine that we are now at the point where someone could make a fake poster and set it up near an official company display area.
