The MW Automotive Thread Quattro SpecV

When I think of the innocents who have to share public roads with jackasses like this--people like my family and friends--it just makes me really angry: Part of me thinks: a permanent vegetative state would be only too-good for this f'ing asshat. But the other part thinks: it's a goddamn shame and a disgrace that now, it'll probably be the taxpayers dollars that will have to pay people to feed, clean and care for this piece of sh*t for the rest of his natural life... -

LOL, I wonder how many people do dumb sh*t just to get busted, in the hopes that Seagal will be the one who gets called out? ...or is he still working/filming for that show? -
OMG, Stewie Griffin really IS Darth Vader! *sigh* Let's face it--we knew the whole SW franchise had gone to hell when we could no longer hear English accents from all the bad guys...
-
The Holy Grail of SW bloopers is apparently long gone, relegated to the cutting room floor long before any mortal eye could ever have seen it: supposedly there was an out-take from Darth Vader's entrance onto the Rebel cruiser at the opening of SW; a Stormtrooper is supposed to have inadvertently stepped on DV's cape, and the resulting melee ended up with a bunch of plastic helmets clacking together like something out of a comedy bit... I seem to remember hearing that from a cast member interview or something.

Watch the left rear foot, at 4:57-4:58. I love spotting for little bloopers and slip-ups in movies; I just always thought that one would have been selected for "correcting" because it was fairly noticable. Even as a kid, I always remember the snowspeeder cockpit looking kinda "transparent." And the blue-boxes on the Tie-Fighters are more noticable than in the other films, too. OMG! LOLOL! That one is NOT work-safe! All these years, and I'd never have noticed that one.

Umm, okay? Meh, I've never been terribly impressed with the "Special Editions." Save for the Solo/Jabba hangar scene, none of what Lucas added did a damned thing to add to the story in any way--it was just fluff. And you woulda thought that Lucas et. al. would have used 20+ years of technological advances to fix the obvious sh*t; like the semi-translucent snowspeeder cockpit when Luke strafes the AT-AT in ESB; or the stick that someone pokes through a trapdoor under the AT-AT's foot to get it to topple, after Luke blows it up. Honest to God, I always figured they left that one in as a joke or something.

Okay, fair enough. How's about this then? Don't know why I'm so decidedly biased towards the old-school machinery. But there's just something about the sound coming from those side pipes, right over your shoulder. The lopey idle from a big cam; the crackling and popping from the backpressure just off throttle--it's positively intoxicating. Even a late-model Mustang motor sounds downright otherworldly. Someday I'm gonna experience what that sound is like coming from a true big block side-oiler. There's a Shelby GT500 JUST LIKE the one in your previous vid, in the showroom at my local Ford dealer. LOL, somehow I doubt they'd let me take it for a test spin. -

True, true. But this is a f'in awesome soundin car, to be sure... I imagine for people seeing this when it was new back in the late 60's, it had to instill a sort of "the future is now" kinda sense of awe or something... -

Love him or hate him, Steven Seagal's earlier work is still some of the best. Just ran across Out For Justice earlier today. That scene where Gino (Seagal) wades up into Richie's bar and proceeds to whup everybody's arse is friggin classic! The only person who didn't get the sh*t kicked out of 'em was the chick standing at the bar. -
Stephen Hawking and the human emigration project
reddsun1 replied to Marzan's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Agent Smith probably put it more succinctly than anyone in recent memory: "I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet." -

Meh, damned fear-mongers. Tell Hawking to fetch me a quart o' oil and a gallon o' 110 octane, an' kiss my arse... -

I thought The Island was a remake of Logan's Run? At least, that's what I got from the trailers... -
Oh no, nothing like that. Just a proverbial oath, shouted into the wind as it were; aimed at the soulless carbon-copy machine that is Hollywood.
-
God Bless your optimism. But alas; given time, you too, will come to understand the futility of your wish. The Studios have nothing to fear from people with anything like intelligence, taste, or discretion. Never underestimate the power of large groups of stupid people...

BOO! BOOO!! Leiji Matsumoto says: get off his nut sack!!

LOLOLOL!!! Not even Ving Rhames dropping cheesy 1-liners and killing CG fish could save this one for me. PASS. Prediction: this one's gonna SUCK. DONKEY. BALLS. God, I am such a hypocrite, I know. Deriving entertainment from one clip from an obviously sh***y movie, while criticizing another. It's the crappy movies that have the audacity to take themselves seriously that I don't like. It's like the people making that Mega Pihrana had to know they were making a B-movie, so they just rolled with it.

I suppose it wouldn't be fair to have Chuck Norris in it. As we all know, the sheer brilliance of his aura would simply overpower all the bad guys and render everyone else's role on the team impotent. http://4q.cc/index.php?pid=top100&person=chuck -

Heh, like pasties. On a stripper. And yes, that was a bad 'chop. Those rears are totally inadequate. I think Challengers will accomodate 10" wheels at the rear, maybe 11"s? -
LOLOL! I love Oz expressions. One of my all time favs is from Jim Keogh, when asked about how much money it takes to come to Bathurst ('79): "...it's just like standing under a cold shower and ripping up $50 bills. I think you have to be a spendthrift with a sense of humor just to be out theah."

I would have said aimed at the teen-to-20-something crowd, pretty much like all mainstream movies are nowadays... This is an all-important demographic to Hollywood, I'd say. A segment that's just beginning to express any sort of buying power, be it from their allowance/first job/or what have you--but still not possessing the good taste or sophistication to exercise any true discretion with their spending power, to say: "I'm not about to spend my $$$ on this sh*t..."
-
NO good can come of this... You know that at this point, Anthony Hopkins couldn't give a sh*t. He's just cashing-in, while the paychecks are still good. And WTF is this thing with trying to make the eye-patch some kind of "cool accessory" with the whole strapless-magically-stays-stuck-on-your-face look? That's just dumb. I don't know WHY I'm even focused on a detail as obscure and miniscule as this--especially in light of everything else that's BAD about the look of this...call it a pet-peeve. It's just nonsensical. But it's the little details like that, that really make a difference in how enjoyable and engrossing a movie can be. Stuff like that says: THEY. JUST. DIDN'T! CARE!!
