BANDAI 1/55 Valks. I wanted one of these when they first came out, but my folks figured they were just too expensive. Funny thing is when the time came for me to get these things because I can personally afford them, I never did! The reason was I became infatuated with something that's even more gorgeous: The YAMATO 1/48's!

Looks excellent! and on a sidenote, I think you made a good decision on having to put the valk upside down, instead of on it's side, 'coz that would have put too much stress on the backpack . Nice work!

Have to agree with you guys, USD200 for a non-transforming BETA is just ridiculous. But I also have to admit that IF toynami ends up giving us one for that price, I'll probably pick one up a few months after the initial release, hoping and praying that the e-tailers will slash and cut the price like they did for the ALPHA's !

Thanks for all the pics, guys, but I have to admit that I specially like the VF-0 in it's F mode. Looks really stunning, and the fact that those shoulder tips don't stick out really adds to the charm !

I totally agree. I happen to think that's still a good price, or if you want, you can look at it this way. Just compare that price to the current going price of a MAX 1A. That'll put things in perspective .

I'm noticing a common theme here... The VF-1 FAST packs don't add armor. That's a RawBootEck-ism. They're full of fuel and explosive weaponry. A hit on a loaded FAST pack is probably going to blow off whatever it's attached to. 381935[/snapback] Considering how easily Cannon Fodders tend to blow up in the series its fair to say that the best defense in Macross is avoiding being hit in the first place rather than trying to soak up the impact with armour. So the extra re-mass and ammunition are probably better than toting around the mass of armour in any case. At least the extra reaction mass reserves allows you to burn harder and the extra firepower might allow you to put down your attackers before they do the same to you. I think the SDF-1 crew, upon seeing how well armed the ZENTRAEDI units are, decided the best way to eliminate the enemy is to hit them fast and to hit them hard, things they were able to do with the help of the FP's on their valks.

For me, it has to be with FASTPACKS. Unlike most folks, I like the way a VF-1 looks in fighter mode when it has the FP's on. It's armed to boot and looks menacing, but at the same token, it exudes elegance.

These new TOYNAMI valks look cool but they just don't cut it for me anymore. I rather be spending my money on YAMATO valks. That HIKARU figure, I might have to think about, though .

So, it's another 7 months before season 3?! Oh well, some things are worth waiting for, I guess. Loved that finale though. Probably not as great as season 1's, but definitely one for the books. To be slightly off topic---HASBRO's releasing BSG 3" titanium vehicles. Does anyone know if they'll be coming out with the same die-cast toys in slightly larger scale, like what they did with ARC and DROID fighters from STAR WARS ep.III?
