    Actually, I was thinking more of ThreeZero's DLX line of expensive Transformers that can't, you know, transform... but in fact, I'd probably confused them with Flame Toys Kuro Kara Kuri line of overpriced Transformers (that can't, you know, transform). And yes, Sentinel definitely belongs on that list, despite the quality of their products.

    It was redeveloped, actually: first as a sequel to Macross, then a subplot shoehorned into Megazone 23, and finally as an RPG scenario involving... Russians? I'm not particularly clear on that last one, but I think we should probably leave well enough alone.

    Bandai are not known for being completionists... ...but at least they continue to produce product (unlike Takatoku or Yamato)... ...of reliable quality (unlike Toynami or Evolution Toy)... ...at affordable prices (unlike ThreeZero or Arcadia).

    They were taking pre-orders for a 1:18 3D-printed kit last year... (for your vintage Matchbox Robotech figures, I suppose...?) I don't think it ever happened, though.

    Since the story only concerns the constellation Eridanus, what is the significance of the "Southern Cross" in the title? I'd always been (mis)led to believe Glorie was in the constellation of Crux. Incidentally, Epsilon Eridani features heavily in Halo as well. Could Glorie be the same barren world Halo calls "Reach?" I wasn't going to bother commenting on that trope. It's practically as old as science-fiction itself... and usually hand-waved away, if it's even acknowledged.

    Yeah, except it really isn't. Rolf's initial reluctance to attack the Zor, and his early conflicts with Leon, are all based on a total lack of information. They don't know what their purpose is, what their technology is capable of, or even who they are... ...except, inexplicably, what they call themselves, and precisely where they came from. And in episode 9, "Stardust," the Zor take considerable effort to communicate with Glorie, finding the "key codes" necessary to use their "hotline..." ...and it certainly seems to be their first attempt at communication.

    Yeah, that's consistent with the nonsensical exposition dump at the beginning of the second episode, "Make Up," which states that "the aliens who call themselves Zor" came from the Eridanus star system, according to "analysis of their communications..." ...meaning the citizens of Glorie had the use of a universal translator sophisticated enough to parse proper nouns...? Or were the Zor considerate enough to call ahead and introduce themselves, before destroying Glorie's orbiting communications grid? The more you think about it, the less sense it makes.

    I think you'll find what defines "a real military" differs a great deal from country to country... and certainly doesn't reflect what the Army of the Southern Cross represents. For starters, many Asian countries still enforce conscription, requiring at least two years of military service from every young man. In Thailand, for example, the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) begin their training at 16, and receive the rank of Sergeant when they graduate high school. In Asia, Jeanne's rank would not seem quite so ridiculous as it does in North America... particularly if the average soldier was only expected to serve for a couple years. Furthermore, consider that compulsory education in Japan only extends to jr. high, and that many sr. high schools (particularly in rural areas) are more like vocational schools, like "engineering high schools" or "agricultural high schools." Given the explicitly-stated ages of Jeanne (17) and Bowie (16), and that most of the other soldiers we see look and act like teenagers, I'd always assumed the TASC was more of a military school than what we'd consider an army. Apart from upper echelon, there are only a few adult soldiers seen in the series. And given that there doesn't seem to be much of a civilized culture on Glorie beyond the military (and no extant threat prior to the Zor's appearance), I would expect most young people would consider a brief military stint to simply be the last stage of adolescence... and certainly not the career choice that North Americans consider it to be.

    Too small. Definitely too small. And unfortunately, next to the HMRs, Wave's 1:72 kits look as oversized as the vintage kits look undersized.

    They both wipe the floor with any official release, regardless of scale (and most previous third-party attempts, even). Boy, do I feel dumb having bought those cheap-ass "Hulkie" knock-offs for my Legends-scale collection...

    DC? That treatment had Marvel written all over it! It's shocking just how much they aped from Infinity War/Endgame: The big alien bad guy wins, and half the heroes are killed at the end of the first film. Jump five years ahead, into a dark and depressing future. The survivors have gone their separate ways and are dealing with their own personal problems. We bring the survivors back together, because only by working together they can succeed using... time travel! With the timeline altered, all the dead heroes return, and a massive battle ensues... The resurrected king brings his reclusive, secret society with their high-tech wonders to the fight... The warrior god(ess) leads her ancient civilization to join the struggle... The multiple armies defeat the forces of the big bad alien... ...but not without the heroic sacrifice of the only normal human, the genius vigilante guy with all the gadgets. End with a moving memorial service in honor of the hero that nobody actually liked... because he was kind of a jerk to everybody. Seriously, just replace Wakanda with Atlantis, the Asgardians with the Amazonians, the Guardians of the Galaxy with the Green Lantern Corps, and call it Justice League: The Infinity Wargame.

    Whoever chose the color for the cards was likely familiar with the Dom; the purple seems an unlikely coincidence. Is that what Crisis Point calls the "Engineer Bioroid?"

    The "Late Period" Type I Bioroid is an officially-published Ammonite design... The image posted earlier is a Robotech RPG derivative... ...and the purple coloring is most likely fan-done.
