Their last MCU release, Loki, made that abundantly clear... but that looks to be the least of the problems with the "Birth of Iron Man" Tony, who doesn't even look Caucasian (much less anything like Robert Downey, Jr.)! Despite the awkward English captions, this reviewer has truly mastered snarky sarcasm... ...or else he's the worst reviewer I've ever seen on YouTube.

I must say, I'm happy to see the reduced budget hasn't significantly impacted the scope of the storytelling. The Icelandic settings are epic and otherworldly, the visuals retain their feature-film sensibilities, and (other than some dodgy greenscreen compositing) the effects still look great. Ah yes, "The Escape Artist," second-best of the Short Treks. Honestly, though, here's the one real advantage Discovery has over Picard or Lower Decks; since every legacy character is recast, and the production design is so far removed from classic Trek, it's easier to simply accept it as alternate-universe setting (like the Kelvin timeline stories) and judge it on its own merits. Mudd is as unrecognizable as bearded Spock, grey-haired Pike, or hairless Klingons, but that's fine if you approach the show as a remake (regardless of the producers' intentions). With the participation of Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner, Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, John De Lancie et.al, the other shows are more difficult to dismiss.

That would be awfully disorienting, I imagine. While Lower Decks remains largely episodic, Discovery employs seasonal arcs the same way most modern television series do... and there's enough leftover baggage from season 2 that I'm finding it a little confusing myself (since it's been nearly eighteen months since last season). Actually, we heard him speak in at least two previous episodes from last season ("An Obol for Charon," "Through the Valley of Shadows").

Oh, absolutely. It was even more obvious than the casket-lands-intact-on-the-genesis-planet ending. I'd rather Picard was ignored, personally. Third-rate Trek is still Trek, but Picard... commits even greater sins.

I was so disappointed she doesn't scale with my Frontier Valks... or rather, that we don't have any 1:48 Messiahs. -
Sure, if you discount how they retconned shuttle design, holographic technology, and starship control mechanisms back to 22nd century levels.

STAR WARS Merchandise Episode - 2

I can't believe Hasbro's gonna sell me another Boba Fett figure... Probably. I'm quite fond of that one... and it'll match the "Vintage Collection" scheme on the toy I'm replacing. -

I like 'em both. MakeToys "Wrestle" is more of G1 toy homage, whereas Masterpiece Grapple is pure toon. Edit: It turns out you meant Ocular Max "Girder," whereas I was thinking of "Wrestle."- 16234 replies

The Aoshima 1:48 variable Legioss kits are about the same size as the CMs, the Toynami, and the Sentinel. They are cheap and plentiful. I imagine upgrading your CMs toy would require far more than just the intakes, however...

No, the Sentinel can pull off that pose no problem... Maybe @jenius needs longer arms.

You forgot one, @valhary... Honestly, though, I can only look on with bemused disinterest. Once I've got my "Thomas," the last significant hole in my Masterpiece collection will be filled; I couldn't care less what characters TakaraTomy make next, 'cause I've already got third-party representatives superior to anything they're likely to produce officially. Starscream 2.0 3.0 is merely the latest in an increasingly long line of characters that have already been done better by MMC, Maketoys, Magic Square, FansToys et. al. Masterpiece has officially jumped the shark. I'm far more interested in what the Studio Series does with the Sunbow characters, 'cause that's clearly where the talented designers have been assigned.- 16234 replies

We've mostly been discussing Lower Decks in the Picard thread, but I think the show is worthy of its own... certainly more than Picard turned out to be. I do agree the characters got more likable as the series progressed. I was disappointed how much humor got sacrificed in the finale for over-the-top action instead, however, especially after the action-packed movie parody the previous episode was. "No Small Parts" pretty much turned into exactly what "Crisis Point" was parodying. Oh, but what a glorious love-letter to the Star Trek films "Crisis Point" turned out to be! What could've been just a bunch of geeky shout-outs turned out to be a well-structured character arc for our protagonist, introduced the hilarious ship's counselor Dr. Migleemo, and featured some of the most inventive visual setpieces in Star Trek lore... without forgetting the geeky shout-outs, of course. The in-joke reference to Xon was the deepest cut yet. In fact, I'd say "Crisis Point" was the best Star Trek has been since DS9 ended. By separating the principal leads at the finale, I got the distinct impression there wouldn't be a second season... ...but I suppose it's irreverent enough that they can walk back any changes without skipping a beat.

STAR WARS Merchandise Episode - 2
tekering replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Neither, actually. It's a studio-scale resin kit I've made extensive modifications to. The full-sized Y-Wing prop was a little undersized -- not as much as the Falcon set, mind you -- but that's what I've based the measurements on. -

That was me. The problem with Hasbro's Falcon toys (and Kenner's before them) is that different sections are at different scales, which completely throws off the overall proportions and makes scale largely irrelevant. Many other vehicles suffer from the same problem, the AT-ATs and Y-Wings in particular. -
