The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread

Magic Square, all day long. Look at the face, dude... and the clean, unbroken lines of the pelvis with the transparent amber lights... the rotating grey thighs... even the size and shape of the feet. The battle-damage options are just icing on the cake!- 9344 replies

And in the meantime, you can use a pin vice to drill out the interior holes to the proper radius... It's very difficult to make a large hole smaller, but very easy to make a small hole larger! -

Totally unnecessary. I've transformed mine twice now, and I've yet to even try detaching the legs. All the transformations, poses and shots I've achieved so far have been with the swing bar attached. There's already more articulation at the hips than any previous transforming VF-1. Why does a Valkyrie even need a waist joint?

While I agree the fixed-pose movie-style hands hardly seem necessary, I greatly appreciate the cartoon-style TV hands.

Yeah, those birds are part of my permanent display. I expect Bandai will eventually make most of my Yamato 1:48 collection obsolete, but I doubt they'll ever release a stealth, low-vis, or woodland camo scheme (heck, even an "Angel Birds" scheme is unlikely), so these Valkyries will remain prominently displayed in my Macross showcase. I still have to get a low-vis GPB and the stealth FAST packs, as I'm sure they'll complement a DX 1:48 display as well as they do the existing TV Yammie's. As much as I understand Shizuka's decision to avoid the 1:48 scale -- and respect her restraint -- there are some beautiful and unique color schemes she's depriving herself of... -
Same as the ol' Yamato... They stay in place as long as you don't touch 'em. Technically, it's neither: Not if it gets played with a lot. Like the DX YF-19, the hip joints are very stiff, but not ratcheted... and like the YF-19, there are exposed screws that allow you to adjust the tightness, should it be required: Perfect. Smooth, easy, and secure. Better than a Transformer, better than the ol' Yamato 1:48, maybe even better than the 1:60. Certainly on par with the last DX release, the YF-19. Oh, and speaking of which, the DX YF-19's missile mounts are compatible. Yamato's missile mounts use the same system, but are incompatible sizes: ...so Yamato missiles won't work. And don't even bother trying to get Yamato's GPB to work. That's a fool's errand. Ditto for the FAST packs.

My intake covers aren't very secure, which is frustrating in gerwalk mode... Otherwise, it's a dream.

You didn't get Yamato's 1:48 Kakizaki or Max? They released both movie and TV versions.

Good, but poorly-researched. Who is Chris Landa? Oh, they mean Chris Latta, who voiced the original Starscream. They get Peter Cullen's name right, but say he's voiced Optimus Prime since the beginning... which ignores Robots in Disguise, Armada, Energon, Cybertron, Animated, Universe, Combiner Wars... over a decade's worth of animated content (and at least six other voice actors). And what gave them the idea that the "Coneheads" had altered Hasbro instructions? Probably Floro Dery's line art for the Sunbow cartoon, rather than anything to do with the toys, their packaging, or their instructions. It's like they don't even know how to use Google.

Exactly. Tunisia would look like Tatooine, if it weren't for the tourists.

That's 'cause some very talented individuals at Max Factory took the time to do the research, confirm the proportions, sculpt the details, and just did a gorgeous job with the nosecone, the cockpit, the fuselage, the wings, the legs... and then, almost as an afterthought, gave the backpack to some inexperienced part-time intern who couldn't even be bothered to look at the line art. Well, the anime gives us a look at the mechanism inside the feet, but not how the feet are actually connected to the legs... ...but I'll certainly use this for inspiration, at the very least.
