  1. How are peoples PS3s bricking? Do you lose power during a save or firmware update? I have unreliable power and its always been a nightmare scenario of mine. damn I hope my PS3 never bricks, now i`ve finally converted all my mkvs and ogms to mpg I use it for everything now.
  2. I would prefer a reboot look like Macross Fever rather than Macross: The First.
  3. I`m sure this has been endlessly speculated about on MW but I wouldn`t be surprised if we saw a Gundam/Z Gundam/Eva style remake movie trilogy of Macross in the next few years for sure. If the animation looked like in Macross Fever it wouldn`t be too bad.
  4. I believe in Japan most business for Yamato is done through their website now (was harder and harder to find Yamato in retail stores in 2009) in which case Yamato gets the full price. In the case of selling through the retailer, the retailer will take a quite small cut actually. Selling out of 15000 units happens to every Yamato toy that goes to a second, third or more production runs, and thats quite a few toys. Once again, yes, Japan is Yamatos primary market of course, so I`m asking does anyone have a link to any Japanese forums where there is reaction to the regult anouncement by Japanese fans? Do they want a cheap toy or are they happy with the premium product?
  5. Actually if the stuff is sourced from Japan EMS to Australia is cheaper than to the US.
  6. see my rough revenue calculations based on Grahams production numbers info and another posters estimate of mold costs earlier in the thread.
  7. uh yeah, 30K PER MOLD, as mentioned earlier in this thread, I never said one mold = one toy. Even allowing for 10 molds per toy (multiple parts per mold) thats only $300K production cost, compared to $2.25 million revenue on a sold out toy (every Yamato that goes to a subsequent production run sells out at full price or close to it in its first production run). Minus overheads I still think theres a very good margin for profit.
  8. wow cool, probably someones only chance to nanpa Minmay, Sheryl or Ranka! Please size down your pice though!
  9. Does anyone know of a place online where Japanese fans (Yamato`s primary market) have posted their reactions to the resin Regult? Are they also angry that a mass production toy isn`t being produced or do they just passively accept what they are given? Stereotypically Japanese are passive but recently more and more Japanese are outspoken. Grahams production numbers are interesting. 15,000 produced times say 13,000 yen average retail price depending on the exact model thats 195 million yen or about US$2.25 million revenue from a sold out toy. Out of that theres all the overheads, retailers cut (no cut if bought through yamato website)..$30K for molds might sound expensive but on a scale where you a producing 15000 toys from one mold its peanuts.
  10. If Hot Toys make a Packy and Bota then I intend to buy them. If I had the money: 2000 Watt hair dryer Rolex GMT II Pepsi w)taps x porter readypack cargo bergen comp Blacked out Range Rover Blacked out Humvee Metal Slug 2 for Neo Geo AES Eames recliner Sony programmable ES remote control Ricoh GR III (My GR II is good but dying) VT-1 Max 1S GBP-1S fitted to a VF-1A CF 1/60 Regult.
  11. well I`ve been unemployed for almost 2 years now so ANY new Macross toy, let alone a $400 one is just a dream for me..I`ve learned to be satisfied with my bare core 1/60 DYRL collection..
  12. Haha, that was great, probably the best directed modern combat scenes I`ve ever seen, exactly whats happening is so clear, without being simplistic or dull. Michael Bay should take some notes from this director.
  13. It`s tools down for the Daedalus construction team for now but they`ll be back I know. They`ll go back to their 1/200 kit homes and be with their 1/200 girlfriends and eat 1/200 pine salada...maybe some will get jobs at the MacrossNalds flipping burgers in the iterim. It`s taken this long, whats another year?
  14. I would and have bought a few raws even though my Japanese comprehension is not so great (its weird, I can talk in Japanese with a Jgirl all day long but I can`t catch all the high level vocab in SF anime - guess I should actually study?) but I`m not sure if the average anime fan would be willing to pay Japanese retail price where series box sets still go for between $300 and $1000.
  15. I saw it, thought it was crappy, I dont like the Matrix either though.
  16. Is there such thing as a proxy server anymore?
  17. What do you collect and why? Yamato Macross DYRL 1/60, Macross books, CDs and games, old A Bathing Ape clothes, old Stussy clothes, old w)taps clothes, old Supreme clothes, old deadstock Air Jordans, vintage Levi`s, Rolex watches, glasses frames, sunglasses, `90s Sony electronics (discmans, walkmans, headphones, amps, video decks), old video game consoles and original games only (screw emulators, PS2, Sega Saturn, PC Engine/Super CD Rom, SNES, Neo Geo AES, PC-FX, Virtual Boy, PSP, PS3), American comic books (Marvel GI Joe, old Punisher, The `Nam - still filling in the gaps since high school) old Japanese streetwear magazines, old Jpop CDs, Soul and Hip Hop CDs, rare Minidiscs, DVDs, Blu-rays, Herman Miller furniture. Why? I love too much stuff. Will you stop collecting at some point and why? No way, I`m a born collector, its part of who I am. Have your interests in collecting one line over another waned? Once I decide to collect something I never waver. Whats the maximum you will spend on one toy? A toy? Eventually I`d like to get into `80s Bandai Macross and I guess my limit would be around $1K for a single valkyrie. Whats the maximum you will spend in a year? Everything I make, plus credit cards Whats your spouse, partner think about your collection? Dont have a partner How do you like to display your collection? I hang a lot of my clothes on my walls, display some jordans on my desk sometimes, have my macross collection on a couple of shelves with glass doors to protect from dust. Do you get more excited about finding your white elephant and then get meloncholy once in your possession? I have so many grails that I`m never satisfied but each grail that comes into my possession is usually even more beautiful than I had expected and I love it more than life.
  18. I like Igloo`s depiction of full scale ground combat, even if it is in CG , which I generally hate.
  19. Has anyone got an active link to a Gundam Sentinel translation?
  20. Thanks Keith, that`s interesting. I still think this might be useful for hunting down the older HK box sets used on ebay or something though. Does anyone own a HK bootleg ZZ or V Gundam boxset? I know they were released pre-SARS so how were they? Fansubs might be an option for me (although finding all the episodes to a show, mastering them to DVD/getting .mkv/.ogm to play back smoothly on my crappy computer does my head in.)
  21. Sorry, didn`t realise Mospeada had been officially released. Well at least I know where I can get a watchable version of that now. Thanks.
  22. There`s a street called "Macrossan Street" near where I used to live. I spray painted over the "an" on the street sign about 15 years ago. I considered moving into that street but I probably need a job before I can get a house.
  23. As I try to put together a decent and watchable DVD library of my favorite SF/Mecha anime I`m finding it hard to find basic information online regarding the quality of various HK bootleg releases. I`m primarily interested in the accuracy and grammar of the included English subtitles. I find it impossible to watch some HK bootlegs due to the horrible English subs however some titles just aren`t available English subtitled on DVD otherwise. Secondarily I`m interested in the picture and sound quality. If you have a HK bootleg release of any anime show, preferably SF/`80s Robot shows then please briefly rate the readability of the English subs and the picture and sound quality. I`ll get the thread started with the few bootlegs I already have: Title: The Legend of the Galactic Heroes 1-76 (3 Boxsets) Label: Manga International Inc Subtitles: Excellent, probably stolen from the fansub Picture and Sound: perfectly acceptable, very clear in fact. Title: Genesis Climber Mospeada TV Label: Unknown? "2001videostore" in the fine print Subtitles: Horrible, barely watchable with name changes between episodes, bad grammar and syntax that gave me a headache, drastically reduced my enjoyment of the show. Picture and Sound: Okay, no big problems Title: Macross: Do You Remember Love? Label: FX Subtitles: Very good, fansub source? Picture and Sound: Incredibly good, like it better than my remastered Japan DVD. ...
