  1. If anything, AC kits are notorious for having a massive number of small parts. LOL, I still shudder at the memory of gluing on those tiny thruster nozzles on the back of my Krasnaya with a tweezer. Fricking nightmare. BTW, is that emblem editor only for online mode?
  2. I have to agree; giant robot dinosaurs acting like complete idiots onscreen are right up his alley. If the ROTF DVD commentary is to be believed, it was because Orzman (you know, like Bennifer and Brangelina... ) couldn't figure out a way to logically put transforming robot dinosaurs into the movie.
  3. Right you are. The satisfaction of the build is something you can't find no matter how many trophies you bag in a game. Plus, the final product of a completed build is a lot more tangible and long lasting. I can't be bothered to replay even recent games I've played through, but that AC Aaliyah Krasnaya I built a year back still brings a silly grin to my face. Honestly, games nowadays just don't last as long as they seemed to back in the PS2 era. Tutorial? I usually skip over those, but I heard AC V's learning curve is pretty steep. Man, those are some intricate custom emblems. I never knew they actually had an airbrush feature in the game's customization system. Now I'm even more stoked about getting my first airbrush/compressor set! Off-Topic mode initiated: It's going to be a cheap entry-level Tamiya basic with a single-action trigger AB (don't you just love budget constraints?), but I doubt I can handle anything more advanced for now.
  4. I'd actually buy the game if this is the case. Then again, my wallet's pretty tight right now, since I've got an airbrush/compressor set to buy next week. Talk about unfortunate timing.
  5. I think the execs base their decisions on demographics and the reports of their marketing department(?). I seriously doubt they're the "on the ground" type who spend hours lurking TF forums researching the opinions of fans. And since their golden goose Bay has expressed a reluctance to feature Dinobots on screen, they'll naturally want to stop having anything to do with them. To them, movie toys are what bring it the big bucks (and they probably do), so what doesn't belong in the movies gets put aside. I wouldn't be surprised if they see TF Prime as simply a "gap filler" until TF4 gets released.
  6. They should slim The Boss down a bit, and go easy on the dark lip gloss. Hope they don't mess the face up in the final version like they did with RE Afterlife Alice.
  7. Actually, Windex also works, if not better.
  8. Personally, didn't really notice these things on MP-11. Overall, I just find him a nice representation of G1 Starscream, and that's good enough for me. I mean, for a robot that transforms into a red, white and blue fighter jet, black hinges really don't call that much attention to themselves. That said, I agree with what David said. Takara does make some strange choices, sometimes.
  9. Ah, that clears things up a bit. Yeah, a lot of the back story seems to have been shoehorned into the series by different writes. Tygra and Cheetara seem to be oblivious to each other and make no hint at all of having known each other as children until the sudden "betrayal."
  10. Sorry, Nash; I still don't get it. I haven't seen any dogs or puppies in any of the episodes so far. Jackalman doesn't count, does he?
  11. Chinese? But I thought they were--...
  12. LOL! True. Porn obviously has shorter hours and probably better pay. And from what I've seen in that clip, they're probably better actors lying on their backs.
  13. Personally, I'm satisfied with my current YF-21 and -22S Gamlin, fragile and finicky as they might be. Yamato Valks have never been cheap, and I'm hesitant to spend any cash on a new version of a Valk I already own. That said, my YF-21 still hasn't been transformed once after its purchase a few years ago. I'm planning to put a coat of FFP onto the light blue paint on the feet before touching it. Heard too many horror stories of scraped paint during transformation.
  14. Yeah, it was a Medicom release. I wasn't into figure collecting when it was released, and missed out on it. Not bad, but not great either. Doesn't hold a candle to HT's latest face sculpts and articulation.
  15. Lesson learned from most recent episodes: all Thunderan cat-women are hot. Another good back story episode. Would've been nice if they created an explanation for Kit's hypno-tune thing though, as it obviously came from her mom's lullaby. I think you meant the "mother of the kittens," instead?
  16. Nice, but pass. Looking forward to an eventual Cyborg Raiden, though.
  17. Same here. In recent months I was planning to salvage the VF-1J kit, maybe strip the paint and redo it. Was even planning to get some Gundam hands to replace the ham fists, and mod the legs to make a decent GERWALK. But every time I take a glance at my Yamato 1/60 V2 VF-1J Hikaru all suped up in armor parts, I start to ask, "Why bother?" Said project is in the backburner right now, piled under a stack of Border Break kits and a couple of DMK TF's. Man, I thought it was just me and my Tamiya acrylics. Damn, hand painting isn't quite as easy as I thought it'd be. I was hoping to go from spray painting to hand painting because it's easier to clean up, and you could do it in an air-conditioned room (acrylics, at least), but it seems the results just can't match those of an airbrush or canned spray. Nice job for an old kit. The first kit I ever built was an old Arii VF-1J Battroid Max Custom. It was a nightmare; warped parts, pegs that don't fit....
  18. Reminds me of that Arii GERWALK VF-1J Hikaru I never got around to finishing. Bought it like ten years ago, but abandoned the build shortly after buying my first PS2.
  19. How you guys manage to get such good results with a paintbrush, I'll never know. BTW, if you're concerned about scratching off paint, just add some Future to the paint or paint it on as a clear coat. I might suck at painting by hand, but I've gotten great results from clear coating FFP. Works really well in toughening your paint, and even makes a decent primer.
  20. Thanks for the recommendations, Jefuemon! I'm very glad to hear good comments on the Tamiya stuff. They're by far the most easily available ones where I'm at, and they look pretty hassle free. Even if I could afford those super-sophisticated ones with the controllable psi's and whatnot, I wouldn't know how to get the thing working. About the Spray Work Revo compressor, there's a set that comes with a double-action trigger-type airbrush. Is that any good? Just by looking at it, the trigger-type looks more comfortable and user-friendly than the standard type. Whoa, about this water trap thing; all this while I thought just spraying indoors is enough to eliminate or at least minimize the humidity. The online catalog didn't mention anything about a water trap. If a compressor doesn't have a water trap, if I paint after it rains, would it be all right? Or would I have to wait for one or two days of sunny weather like when I paint outside? Also, how does the Tamiya basic compressor set measure up to the REVO? It's much cheaper; honestly, I'm not looking to do any super-sophisticated stuff with it--just spraying a smooth, even coat onto model kits. I usually take shortcuts when weathering stuff, anyway, using weathering sets and other "cheapo" techniques gleaned from online tutorials. I've only tried Tamiya acrylic German gray on a piece of scrap plastic, and it was something of a nightmare. I've tried thinning it to a 1:1 ratio with windex (Kao Glass Magiclean, actually) and even Future Floor Polish, and it still left brush strokes. That said, I WAS using a rather small brush to paint a pretty wide area. My attempts with Tamiya's acrylic thinner made the earlier coat of paint lift when I applied the second one--I've heard you need at least 24 hours when thinning with Tamiya's thinner between coats. At least the Magiclean allowed me to re-coat after just a few minutes...or could that be why I'm getting brush strokes? Could the paint be evaporating too fast? Very impressive kits, Electric Indigo! I've always wanted a Gally/Alita figure, but resin kits are way out of my league. Either way, now that I'm kneedeep in Tamiya paints with no way of getting good results hand painting, I'll have to get an air brush whether I like it or not. BTW, I've heard that you can get Badger airbrushes from Tamiya. I checked the model you mention on Tamiya's online shop, and it doesn't seem to be compatible with their line of compressors. What compressor do you pair it with? Tamiya compressors are the only ones I think I can easily find.
  21. I should hope so. Yup, noticed that one, too. Yeah, now that the adult 'Cats' pasts have been done, it's the Kittens' turn. What you wrote about the..."mother of puppies"? I don't get it.
  22. Nice paint job! For some reason, I really like the matte finish on the thrusters. BTW, where are you going to get the decals? It's been a long time since I opened up my VF-25F V2 Alto, but I don't recall any stickers or decals included with the toy.
  23. Hi all! Me again. After several attempts at trying to hand paint some scrap model kits indoors, I discovered that I either suck at hand-painting [very likely], or Tamiya paints are a nightmare to use when not airbrushed [well-documented]. Or both. The latter seems to be true, as almost all forums I visited said Tamiya is great for airbrushing, but horrible for hand-brushing. I tried thinning the stuff with Magiclean, FFP, even its own brand of acrylic thinner, using different ratios, but there were still visible brush strokes. Sadly, it's all I can easily get my hands on locally. Either way, I'm raising the white flag on hand painting and thinking about investing on an airbrush. I could go back to spray cans, but then all those acrylic paints I bought would go to waste. I've only got certain options here as far as airbrushes go, due to location and budget. Tamiya's Spray Works line is available: http://www.tamiya.co..._revo/index.htm http://www.tamiya.co...rush3/index.htm http://www.tamiya.co...ushII/index.htm http://www.hlj.com/product/TAM74520 And these are from my local hobby store: http://www.xl-shop.c...Id=MYHB-T12-720 http://www.xl-shop.c...Id=MYHB_T11-730 Also, can anyone give me some advice on exhaust fans/spray booths? This one from Tamiya supposedly has 4 filters and allows you to spray indoors without a mask. I have a hard time finding respirators locally for some reason, and this might be the answer to my problems. There's also a single fan version. This one's from my local hobby store, but would it suffice? All in all, I don't really plan on doing any super-fine, professional painting; mostly just painting Gunpla, mecha model kits or painting and touching up Transformers. Maybe some weathering, and at most, learn to pre/post shade. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  24. Another great episode. Really changed my opinion of Tygra. Hope from now on they'll give the sibling rivalry thing a rest; it's getting really old.
  25. As much as I want those optional parts, I just can't see myself buying yet another VF-1 I already own. If I were a first-time collector, I'd jump on the opportunity, but right now I've neither the budget nor the stamina to even consider buying more. If they were DYRL versions with the strike packs though, I'd go for it.
