I'll take quality designs as a gimmick over BFG's and automatically transforming parts any day. I do keep wondering why fans say Hasbro doesn't care about adult collectors. Sure, they dont look to us as a viable source of income, but iF they didn't care about us, Generations would probably have been discontinued with the advent of the movie line, and Takara MP's would have never made it to the US. I doubt kids have any real interest in neo-G1 TF's; they usually only buy what's shown on TV.- 17112 replies

Would have traded that Irvine cowboy dude for her. At least Rinoa was good to look at. A sniper that gets all jittery and sh!t before a mission...bleh.- 6876 replies

I bought the two-disc DVD version, and the bonus DVD had the Batmobile documentary, as well as various details on the characters and movie sets. It, however, didn't have the part explaining the deshi basra chant.

I'm guessing Hasbro has some company policy about a compulsory new gimmick for every new line. But that said, it doesn't explain FOC Jazz's tiny one-piece gun and his over-simplified transformation, and poor ankle articulation.- 17112 replies

Thank goodness. When I saw the title of this thread, I though the live action movie was getting a sequel or reboot. Actually, it doesn't really matter to me, since I was never a fan of DB. Watched the LAM because of the brandname, and wish I hadn't.

I'm running into a similar problem here: I've got Battle Suit Jill right now, with Catwoman, Batman and Bane on the way. Bane's not a problem since he's clothed in fabric, but Batman, Jill and Catwoman with their PVC suits kind of worry me. I'm thinking maybe wrapping the figs in wax paper might do the trick.

Although I'm not sure, I'd say rubber. Plastic is usually pretty inert.

This. Considering the steady decrease in plastic and complexity we're seeing in almost all Hasbro TF's, Grimlock is one of the best Hasbro offerings this year. As for MP Soundwave, I can't wait for him to arrive. Depending on how good his leg articulation is, I might just display him crouched on top of my stereo receiver, and maybe customize a faux cable leading from his chest into the headphone jack.- 17112 replies

It's been over a decade since I played the game, but I think it was mentioned that SeeD soldiers (mercs, for all intents and purposes) were usually culled from orphanages to serve in different Gardens. But yeah, the whole thing with the GF's taking up their memories was kind of WTF.- 6876 replies

HT advises against placing the figs back in their boxes for extended periods of time, probably for fear of the plastic reacting with the materials on the figs. The ones I bought are on semi-permanent display inside acrylics case, until I figured out how to store them. While the figs probably won't react to the plactic container in your pic, it can't be a good idea to have the figs lying on top of one another in a pile.

LOL! I couldn't help chuckling when I heard the chant the first few times. While I wasn't sure at first, it sounded something like "Basara"; I half-expected the VF-19 Kai to come swooshing down the pit to rescue Bruce. Should have gotten the blu-ray in retrospect. It was ore expensive, but it seems there are more extras in the BD and in the DVD version.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
GU-11 replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, I kind of lost interest after the Japanese military started harrassing the headquarters. Reminded me too much of End of Evangelion. If Eureka Seven is a better offering, then I'll switch to that then. -

Been marathoning Eureka 7 AO. Everything just keeps reminding me of NGE, but it manages to hold its own. -

When's the MG Aile Striker coming out? Really like the design, if not the anime--actually, I sat through the entire series and had no clue what happened. Chalk it up to the atrocious local dubbing. They actually pronounced Lacus as Rakusu...- 6025 replies

I'm amazed how you all can actually make out the exact words. There was no subtitling on my DVD during the chanting, and what I heard was way different from "teeji basra." Well, "basra," I could barely make out, but "teeji" and "deshi" came off as "ish."
-
Thanks for the link. I would have never found what it meant on my own, listening to the DVD. Either I need to get myself a new set of speakers, or the extras in the Pit scene spoke with an atrocious accent, as a few in that forum mentioned. BTW, seems like a lot of disagreement on the authenticity of the phrase. But at least they agreed that it is Moroccan Arabic.
-
Does anyone know the exact words of that chant in the Pit? I'm trying to type it into a translator to see what language it is, but it sounds different every time I hear it. it's basically variations of, "Marsala-marsala, ish-ish!" Or was it, "Bassara, Bassara! Ish Ish!" Did this phrase even come from an actual language? Supposedly it means "Rise!" in a foreign language, but that's a real mouthful for such a simple phrase.

If I didn't have to save up for the inevitable VT-1, I'd have pulled the trigger on the VE-1. That is one gorgeous machine.

Yeah. TBH, VIII was fine for what it was, basically a love story. It's just that they tried to turn it into something more, which is when the problems start. IMO, the whole concept of witches should have been made more present and apparent in their world from the getgo. The way it was represented in the game, it felt tacked on, to make the game feel less of a love story, which is precisely what it was. @ Shaorin: I haven't played this one yet, but you really can't go wrong with a Tales game. I've played Abyss and Legendia, and those were awesome games.- 6876 replies

I agree with what you said, except that the TRU's in Malaysia never stock MP's. It's either Takara MP's or nothing. Either way, good luck on your hunt, and merry Christmas!

Well, I guess it's just the Batman floodlight, then. I supposed that FOC Jazz counts too, since I just bought it last week. Starting to worry about that super/strike pack, though. Still hasn't arrived at the hobby store. BTW, if you're looking for a MP-10 Convoy, HLJ still has some in stock at 20% discount--saw it when I saw browsing the store yesterday.

Quoted for truth. VIII was and is my all-time favorite, as well as being the first FF game I ever played. Music-wise, there hasn't been a memorable ending song after X. Don't get me started on Tidus. He acts like my friend's 5-year-old kid! IMO, from X onwards, the main characters just went downhill from there. XII's Vaan was an exception, although he wasn't much of a protagonist--the whole story was more about Ashe and that pirate guy (no, not Al Cid, the other one with the bunny girl) than him. Come to think of it, the characters and story in XIII are fine, even squeaky-voiced Vanille and that kid with the boomerang whose names escapes me. It's just the awfully linear stages. They also artificially made the boss fights dificult by forcing a level cap on your characters. XIII-2, while an enjoyable distraction, seemed more like an excuse to milk some money from the main game. Supposedly it was to explain what happened to Lightning, but ended up being some muddled romp through time. The longer I played, the more confused I got.- 6876 replies

Okay, that makes more sense. Personally, I was thinking maybe he was a surgeon who operated on some girl who had a ball inside her for three years. And once he took it out, she wanted him to have the ball as a keepsake or something, but he didn't accept it.
