The singer of Aimo at the end of Track 19 (battle medley) is Sakamoto Maya, the one that sang Triangular and did the voice of Ranshe Mae. Like Nakajima Megumi she got her start as a lead working on Vision of Escaflowne with Kawamori and Kanno.

Macross Frontier Mecha/Technology Thread III *Read 1st Post*
Sumdumgai replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Probably depends on if Battle Frontier/Galaxy is larger than Battle 7. I'm under the impression that Battle Frontier is larger than Battle 7, but it's just an impression. -
A series about a douchebag reporter versus a series about a hippy obsessed with singing. I'd rather watch Macross 7 with its up and downs and cringe worthy moments, than Macross II where I keep hoping Hibiki will die when I know he won't. The only good things about Macross II were Ishtar (before the haircut) and the music, particularly the opening song.

Yeah the Ranshe Mae/Vajra Queen Aimo in ep 14 is not as slow as the one at the end of the Battle Medley, and has some echoing instrument (wouldn't necessarily call it a chime). That makes how many versions of Aimo now? A lot!

Nice finds of music not yet on OST1 and 2, and finding the track that was already on OST1. There's definitely enough music for at least one more CD if not two more. I really want the Ranshe Mae Aimo. Sakamoto Maya is an awesome singer. I'm glad that they had her in the series not just doing Triangular, but also doing a voice.

I'm glad it wasn't Alto-Ranka-Nanase. Nanase's pretty much big boobs and not much else. Although it would have given a reason for Lucca to have his ghosts have a malfunction that would have caused them to attempt to shoot down Alto, after which Alto kicks Lucca's butt. I forgot was it apples that Klan Klan was feeding an injured Michel? Or was it pineapple salad?

Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone
Sumdumgai replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yay to Asuka, reserving judgement on the new chick. Hope she's not a Rei-like character, but a unique one. -
Episode preview theme is on OST2, the remix of "The Target" is not.
-
You could always superglue them back on, that's what I did to mine when one of the legs fell off, and that hip is as good as new, able to pose and transform without problem (unlike the VF-0A I just repaired the shoulders on, they hang loose in battroid and are only good to hold the gunpod in fighter mode now).
-
Well I don't want them to pull what happened with Escaflowne the movie. Some of the music didn't make it to the OST, like the Van vs Dilandau theme. I hate having music from a series or movie never making it to the OST. addition: err, my complaint on duets was the two Diamond Crevasse songs that was posted by windrider before the links were removed. Someone took Diamond Crevasse, edited out the instruments for one song to get Acappela, and in the Duet Diamond Crevasse they put together the normal Sheryl version with Ranka's version. And they both sounded like crap. On the other hand, I loved the Triangular duet.

It could very well be, considering that's all a bunch of pieces that were missing from OST2 that we heard in those episodes. Lion was missing from OST2, which surprised me. Another thing I noticed is that at the end of Track 19 of OST2, the song medley duet, it ends with Ranshe Mae/Vajra Queen singing Aimo. Unlike in the anime, you can't hear the beginning of the singing very well. The "aimo, aimo" portion is either very muted or missing.

Good catch on Captain Wilder's eye Major Focker! That puts that to rest. Forgot which episode, but the one with Ozma and Cathy on a fake date getting Super Chili Chili Dogs as a cover for picking up a small data disk, when Cathy feeds Ozma a Super Chili Chili dog, he takes a big bite out of it. Paper and all. Munch-munch swallow.

Eh, the a capella and duet are put together pieces of crap that sound like trash. OST2 on the other hand kicked ass. Was missing some pieces and songs though. -SMS Theme sung by Ranka (or at least the eyecatch piece) -Harmonica Aimo -Ep2 fast-beat Birdman opening theme mixed with "The Target" from OST1 -Ep3 Maguro-man -Ep3 music box Aimo -Ep4 training with the SMS and daily life -Ep4 Miss Macross Competition theme (aka Panty-chase theme in Ep8) -Ep5 Date theme- Twinkle on OST1 (thanks Major Focker!) -Ep5 Giant Zentraedi singing (ergh, don't really care for that one) -Ep6 Don't Be Late remix (also in Ep14, Sheryl can fly!) -Ep6 music box theme -Ep8 saxaphone+piano theme while Sheryl, Ranka, and Nanase are in the showers -Ep8 Frontier Main theme eye-catch (VAJRA CRASH!) -Ep13 intro "YOU MANIACS" theme -Ep13 Alto with Ranka and Piano Neko theme- I was wrong it's on OST2 -Ep13 Vajra lift-off and Brera vs Alto -Ep14 Ranshe Mae Aimo -Ep15 Diamond Crevasse Ranka version -Ep17 SMS Theme Pineapple Cake version -Ep23 Ai-kun's Betrayal and Brera's Desperate Pursuit

Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread
Sumdumgai replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Well there is a movie coming out sometime, and the show just finished with a bang. It really would have been nice to have the VF-25 toy come out during the show, but then again it would probably look more asstastic than it does right now. -
Jarrod's Exhaustive Bandai VF-25F Review and Gallery

Badass build. Absolutely beautiful. Makes me tempted to eventually pick up a kit. I'm still turned off by the old Macross 7 bandai kits. -
Voted Q-rau, not really for the TV series green, but because that was closest to a V2 Q-rau to be on par with the current quality of Yamato releases in terms of design and poseability. I really couldn't care less for the rest of the zentraedi mecha, since Yamato doesn't have access to doing a Q-rea.

Who, What, and Where Yeah, definitely that.

Minmay, Emiria, and Sheryl or Miria, Klan, and Chloe or Orange, Blue, and Red.

Macross Frontier Series Discussion Thread *READ 1st Post*
Sumdumgai replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
Brera's not all that great. If it weren't for the luck of that asteroid coming between him and Klan Klan, she would have shot him down with her shoulder cannon back in the episode about Michel's past. Alto also shot off one of the VF-27's legs in that episode. Brera would have probably shot Alto down in the sky of Gallia IV (especially with Alto's deer staring into headlights look) if it weren't for Michel. Shooting Alto's wing with friendly fire, purposeful. Shooting down Alto in the under performing VF-171EX, while using a super-performing VF-27, doesn't say much for skill there. I'd say Ozma is the best pilot in the series. The only times he was injured while piloting were when he thought that a Vajra with a blown-off head would stay dead, and purposefully taking a hit to defend the Macross Quarter bridge. Only other time he was hit was a wingtip while making a point to Alto when they fought each other. He came close to being hit in the final episode, but we don't know how that would have turned out since the vajra stopped. -

Glad I knew it was BS on the first line, otherwise I'd be unhappy at you morpheus. Reading it was good for laughs at the amount of BS though. -
Macross, You & Days Before the Internet
Sumdumgai replied to Roy Focker's topic in Movies and TV Series
Introduced to Macross through Macross Plus, as I had avoided Robotech for years, thinking that the name sounded too lame for the show to be any good. Rented Macross Plus episode 1, manga video dub, and was completely blown away by it. Watched the rest of it, then started reading the Jack Mckinney Robotech novels, to try to get an idea of what happened in the original SDF Macross series (somehow found out that Robotech was the butchered release of Macross). Was only able to watch a bit of the Macross portion of Robotech, as the local rental place only had a few videos. Macross Plus got me into the Macross series. Oh yeah, and my first Macross toy was a Joon's VF-1J Hikaru-ish scheme, as there were no such thing as Macross Plus toys, and there wasn't the option of finding re-issued Bandai VF-1s. -
Well, the Frontier gunship looked like it got blown into chunks. The Quarter gunship was blown out of its hand with damage to the butt of the gunship, but was otherwise left intact. The channeling "baby Ranka" has to do with her flashbacks in the last episodes, when young Brera tells her to keep her singing having attracted the vajra a secret. As to Macross1982's post ahead of this one, the red thing was an omamori, a good luck charm. It probably had something to do with flying, but that's just a guess.
-
When Ranka is shown to finally speak after having moved into their new place on Frontier after the 117th Fleet incident, she's still clinging to the importance of "onii-chan".

Alto = most likeable male main character in Macross for me, Sheryl = most likeable female main character for me. Ranka = most likeable other main female character for me. The Frontier trio is my favorite triangle. Followed by Hikaru-Misa-Minmay. Shin-Sara-Mao comes third. Poor Mao, if only she were older, maybe things would have worked out differently. Then again we wouldn't have Macross Frontier the way it turned out, if it did. (Besides Sara probably would have gone off the deep end again and killed them both with a machete, that psycho. ).The M7 trio wasn't much of a love triangle, especially since I hated Mylene. The Isamu-Myung-Guld triangle was interesting for their past history, but it was a triangle of screwed up people...
