Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
Reïvaj replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Ha ha ha! Yes, I think it was exactly that, a euphemism. And I think Twoducks’ English is quite good if it’s true he’s not a native English speaker. -
Yes, it will. I'll look for a picture for you later. In fact this toy will come with lots of locking mechanisms for all its three modes.

You –and we all- know what he meant; I think the idea was pretty clear. -

The picture originally comes from Yamato’s blog, where they say the figure is in an early stage and even though they’re not supposed to show any images of it yet they let us see this one just to know the project is still on. Here’s the link: http://www.yamato-toys.com/blog/ As derex3592 said the picture may be lame but at least we have good news…

That’s because this is the original resin prototype that has been painted for this last exhibition. It’s quite normal than a resin prototype is floppy, also consider that it’s been around for over a year now… The black plastic version looks much better.

As the VF-27 had the performance and stuff of a VF-25 + fast packs, it’s pretty obvious now the YF-29 is the sum of the VF-25 + Tornado stuff. -

For what I can see in the last pictures I think that: • The overall design of the legs is the one of the VF-25 with some improvements, which makes me hope there could be a V.2 of this some when in the future. • The articulations of the knees look similar to the ones of the DX VF-27, including knees/thigh swivels and knee covers. Good stuff. • Unlike the DX 25, the hips articulation seems to be in a similar position to the 1/72 VF-25’s one. Excellent. • The general proportions of the toy in all its three modes looks similar to a scaled up 1/72 model. Great. • I can’t read Japanese but I guess the idea of the big interrogation sign near the back of the toy is to make us guess which the biggest innovation of this bird is, and that’s probably the gun nacelles. But doesn’t the cockpit look a bit unprotected in Battroid mode? I need more pics… • That’s a lot of kibble for Battroid mode, pretty much the same than for the VF-25/27 in Gerwalk mode. While there seem to be some nice improvements for the DX line I’m still not very fond of the design. Maybe if I love the film to come I could love the valk… -

The final? What do they say? -
Yamato is releasing PE parts as an optional upgrade kit for the PT 1/60 VF-1. It will probably be available this month for 1,260 yen (tax included) (unit price: 1,200 yen). The item will be sold as a limited edition only at Yamato Online Shop. It follows the release of the 1/60 PT VF-1 unpainted kits, it’s centred around the cockpit detail, nose radar, engine intakes and the tip of the gun and lasers. The nose radar is only compatible with the unpainted kit. Product Size: W125 × H50 (mm) Package Size: W160 × H120 (mm) Link: http://www.yamato-toys.com/items/detail.php?gid=1842

I think I can also see some extra stuff on top of the wing gloves, some kind of fuel tanks maybe? Have you noticed them?
-
I wouldn’t worry about that yet. Remember that what we have seen so far is the resin prototype with a coat of paint. Resin prototypes never have crystal clear parts. Yamato’s site announces they will be presenting the real plastic toy in a month time, including its definitive colour. I don’t think the eyes will be an issue. As you said, that would be a step back in the design of Macross toys.
-
Do we know the release date of these kits?
-
Yamato's site indicates that the pictures are of the same toy they exposed at Wonderfest in battroid mode, there are quite a few pics of it in previous pages of this thread. Here you are a picture of the VF-19KAI in battroid mode with the square shield and no leg covers. From my point of view it’s not as bad as to not to thank Yamato for the not-absolutely-necessary-but-still-very-nice extras. I think it’s a great toy and I’m looking forward to getting it. I want to have all the heroe VFs, no matter how much Basara is of an annoying selfish jerk.
