The Megazone 23 Garland By Yamato Thread
VF-19 replied to Renato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Update with my Garland: Sent photos to HLJ of my damaged shoulder, and requested replacement parts for both shoulders (left shoulder is undamaged, but don't want to take chances). Today I've been sent replacement part(s?). I really hope it's the upgraded shoulders....- 1057 replies

Mine's got a cracked shoulder too (just noticed it today), just like the images posted above. However, I ordered mine from HLJ... Think Yamato USA would be willing to help me out?- 1057 replies

Yesterday I managed, somehow, to snag a limited edition (or something like that) Galaxy Force Soundblaster. Think regular Galaxy Force Soundwave, but in black. Very cool looking.

Interesting... But I wish they got Beagle 2 right. I don't think it was a rover. See here for what Beagle 2 actually looks like... Dunno. It's kinda like the original Superman Returns teasers that came out. It's hard to get any sort of "feeling" for the movie.

Compared to some of the design flaws I listed (which literally killed pilots) this is increadibly small. Consider it a benefit of pouring all that money into the thing, all we've gotten is a design flaw that makes it tough (but not impossible) to deploy to specific locations at specific times of day (it's not 120 degrees at night). 411804 Didn't the F-16 at one point had a nasty flaw involving the firing of the onboard cannon? I'm probably recalling incorrectly, but everytime the pilot fired the gun, the computer began to do weird yawing motions...

Super Tomcats in place of every Hornet and super Hornet in that photo.

Well, this is the same city that doesn't realize that the distinction between Kent and Superman is merely a pair of glasses! Metropolis is apparently not renowned for its collective IQ. 409536 Actually, it's not just the glasses. It's the posture, the way the hair is parted, and the personality that keeps the city in the dark. Mind you, a psychologist would be convinced that Clark Kent has multiple personality disorder...

I think it's possible I might have to hunt it down and actually buy it... Saab does have it for sale on the official Gripen site (and probably in Swedish), but it's really expensive. And amazon.ca and .com don't recognize the title or code... Well, I'm still crossing my fingers...

After I got out of the store I booted up the DS (a nice partial charge was on it), and had a good look for dead/stuck pixels. None were found. Besides, if anything pops up, I'm going to exchange it with a new one. My brother had a tiny bit of bad luck with his SP, but the store exchanged it with no problems. Although, one small downside to the Lite (and probably the regular DS in general). You can't play it in direct sunlight. There's no reflectivity, and it's really hard to see the screen.
-
It's not a bad idea. Nintendo recently (within the last year) upgraded the SP, so that it has a proper backlight screen than a frontlight screen. Only downside to this is that you can't turn off the backlight on the newer SPs, only turn it down (I think). More current impressions of the new DS... The outer plastic shell feels kinda "slippery", and I need to grip the unit fairly tightly in order for it to not slip out of my hands. GBA games look great on the DS, and my sole DS Game, Castlevania, is fun as heck to play.
-
Still waiting... I really want to finish the Gripen model someday...

Picked up my DS lite today, and I'm one very pleased owner. Feels great in my hands (the old DS felt too "big"), and the transparent plastic looks great. So, if you live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and you want your DS lite right now, go to the Zellers in Place D'Orleans.

I've got the exact same display cabinet (with a few gundam models in it, no Macross yet). I used Ikea's lighting kit to put a small halogen light on the top. Looks great lit up.

If you don't have a carrier, what's the point? 402042 Reportedly the Flankers are to defend against drug dealers. Just a wee bit of overkill if you ask me. 402057 Nothing's overkill when dealing with drug dealers. Ever.

You know, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the Iranians retrofitted another type of engine into their F-14s; probably with help from the Russians. Although, there's no way to prove my above wild statement...

Go here for the side by side lineart.

Thats wierd, I preordered mine the first day they were available and I recieved my 1/60 friday. I figure they simply ran out of stock. 397785 Well, the money is sitting in a high interest account savings account, so it's not ALL bad that I have to wait at most another month... Damnit, I want my VF-0S!!!!
-
I'm annoyed that, according to HLJ, I got to wait until June to get mine... And I put my pre-order down as soon as I could pre-order from HLJ...
-
While I'm still holding on to my pre-order, that thing screams for some noseart (and heatshield art). Hey, I can always change my mind the week before shipping/paying day.

Right now, I'm starting work on the Revell 1:72 F-14D. It's the reboxing of the Revell of Germany kit, and it comes with a little book about Navy fighters (1950ish to presentish). I can either build it as the Vandy-1 (although, without the bunny on the tail... BOO!! ) or as a plane from VF-213 Black Lions. I might be leaning towards an aftermarket decal set though... Kit looks crisply engraved, and is very modular; and the fit is somewhat ok (wings are somewhat warped). If it weren't for the lack of parts, I could build an A or a B out of it (different beavertail, cockpit, engines etc). Apparently, this is suppposed to be one of the better tomcat kits out there. Although, I think David could clarify further.
-
I've found that the large straight micro-saw is great for removing small parts from the parts trees. They don't go flying, they don't get damaged, and they land in the palm of my hand. Great progress on the YF-19. Like David, I've got to get my own someday...

*looks at GameCube*That's not a bad idea... my computers get it often enough, but I've got 3 game machines with active cooling that are pr'ly full of dust monsters. Course, I need one of those damn security bits to get the 'Cube's case open and do it right. But the DC and PS2 won't fight me too much. 375566 Not really. All you need is either an air can, or a compressor with a blower attached to it. Blast the air into the Gamecube, and use a vacumn cleaner to suck the dust up. Works wonders. Makes me want to go and dust every console I have... (Sega Genesis, all the way up to the recent batch)

Yah, but I'm in Canada, so uh... THERE! Seriously, while the 10th anniversary figures are nice, they're rather overpriced for what they are. I'm hoping for the Robot Masters Megatron and Opimus Primal come out as "Tenth Anniversary figures". And I can't wait to get my hands on a Dinobot.

The Stealth and Low Vis 2 is up for preorder on HLJ. Low Vis 2 Non FAST Pack Stealth Super Stealth There's also the display stand, both in black and plated: Black Stand Plated Stand I'm going to put a pre-order on the Low Viz 2, as it looks so darn different than the regular-run-of-the-mill VF-1. Plus there's plenty of options for noseart/chest art for this thing.
