Bandai has acknowledged a difference between TV and DYRL in their HMR line.....although due to the scale they have mostly stuck with a hybrid....concentrating on simple swaps like colors and certain features like the heads and hands.... The current release is definitely leaning towards being a TV version.....mostly due to the pilot figure and the media used to advertise its release....the SDFM TV Opening....

Off memory I do recognize a few....Not a fan myself so I don't follow it enough to know if most of the illustrations have been published elsewhere.....I will take pics of the Gunbuster content later this evening and post it up for you

Hard to tell from the fighter pic but it looks, as with the Yamato 1/48, the canopy is DYRL....I assume they will include TV hands....but right now those are DYRL as well.... The interior cockpit is also unique between the TV and DYRL.... TV DYRL

This DX VF-1 is technically the direct successor to the Takatoku 1/55 VF-1 "DX"....Bandai has not really done anything with the VF-1 at this scale since they acquired the Takatoku 1/55 molds in 1984/85 so it's long overdue....Bandai basically abandoned Macross for years....opting to just release 1/55 reissues....then Yamato came along and the rest was history.....in short, Yamato took all the risks in rebooting the DX VF-1 toyline and made Macross hot again....now with Yamato out of the way and Arcadia apparently unable to release a V 3.0 VF-1..... Bandai's current love for Macross shows no signs of stopping....looking forward to what comes next

Looks like they are doing a Yamato all over again....a 1/60 DX seems inevitable now.... For now....I'm all in on this beast

Yep.....has the character designer been announced for the new upcoming Macross TV series? What if it's Mikimoto and they wanted to include art from the show into the new book? Probably not, but would be cool to have him back on a new Macross tv production at some point.

Guess when in doubt go with the data possessing the most Macross "street cred" available?
-
I thought none of this was "official"...

Once painted I guess they do not look so deep? http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/topic/44666-calibre-wings-172-f-14d-diecast-macross-custom/?do=findComment&comment=1408592

Looks like the Macross Mikimoto book release date has been rescheduled to 3/29 - 4/01 2019....

Yeah....they come framed in boxes....forgot the story on these but they were limited and it was just the Hikaru and Minmay as you pointed out.....produced in limited quantity by a cel dealer in Japan called Anime World Star... http://www.anime-world-star.com/docs/002.html

Mandarake is the only place that consistently seems to have some interesting cels these days....but the prices seem to always go higher that YJA for some reason....and you know they are either paying next to nothing for them or charging a high commission to sell them on their site....
-
Good question........in fact it is the only VF-1 we have never seen a prototype for.....as for everything else, we also have not seen a prototype for the Q-Rau (TV and DYRL) and N-Ger (TV)...everything else is just a matter of repaints....and maybe the Regult Scout, but would that just be a matter of some new plastic add-on pieces? And if you want to start wish listing again....there's the VF-X-4....and other's like the Star Goose, Lancer II, Gnerl and Rabbit... (some are already available via EXO)....

There is hardly anything on ebay you should feel bad about losing out on since 99% of the time you could have bought it off YJA if you really wanted it.......buying off ebay usually means you are supporting a POS scalper as Fortress has stated... I have never seen a cel on one of the dealer sites that hasn't sat on the site collecting digital dust before someone finally bends over for it....so basically Anime Link.... So basically, the scenario that is worse is losing a cel via YJA......if there is any shill bidding going on at YJA it never really goes beyond what the cel is really worth....shill bidders don't want to get stuck with something they really do not want so they drop off before the real bidding starts.... I have to say the biggest problem on YJA cel auctions is urbantreasurehunter....the guy bids on everything.....but if it is something you really want, he will usually back off as he has to make a profit out of the purchase/sale......but he does make the sale go higher than it would sometimes....so that would be the closest thing to a shill bidder, although I think the definition of a shill bidder is one that is either the seller himself or a buddy artificially making the price go higher with no intention of actually being the high bidder....

So based on transgoogling...these two squadrons...the Pythons and the Iron Chiefs....were stationed aboard 2 ARMD's that were part of the Megaroad-01 colonization fleet that are now lost forever....

There are not that many cel dealer sites to track anymore these days anyway...can be done with just a few website links

Still getting at least one....still want to see how the KC 1/72 VF-1 turns out...
-
I hope they offer a standard light grey version....it's the only color I'd buy for mine. I have a feeling he'll make several color matched to some of the VF's like the Max and Millia -1J's and -1A CF.
