  1. I do not think anyone here needs a lecture on how markets work. We get it. The problem is about ethics. More specifically the lack thereof. You cannot come on this site, chastise online sellers for being "bunghole" scalpers, while you are also doing the exact same thing. That is wrong and is a pathetic ploy at trying to make yourself look like a "kinder, gentler" seller.....when you are also being the same kind of bunghole sclaper yourself. What makes it worse is the repeated posts pretending that you are not partaking in such activity. Does this person belive that with enough posts their BS will eventually be believed and accepted? Sorry, I will call out BS when I encounter it. People that pay more for cels than they have to are not stupid, just uninformed. Which is why it is important to keep collectors as informed as possible with current pricing. But as with any "collectible" market....pricing can be very subjective and thus, it is fair game to analyze it. Pricing analysis can provide a better idea where the market really is...as opposed to basing current pricing on the stupidity of two nitwits engaged in a bidding war. In other words, smart and fair analysis will help collectors from not getting fooled or talked into paying $1000 for a $500 cel.
  2. Guess we may never know for sure, unless HG relinquishes the license or someone decides to pay them to release something What would be an example and where would the info regarding number of copies actually "sold" be available? You can certainly print as many copies as you want, but the trick is to actually get folks to buy them at retail...otherwise you won't be publishing many other volumes if the existing books are becoming clearance fodder
  3. Unless these new collectors have unlimited funds to match their lack of sense....this bubble will pop eventually and the market will self-correct.....has happened before and will happen again
  4. You have chosen.....wisely
  5. I passed on it.....the two highest bidders were both competing proxies....probably Rinkya vs Buyee....with Buyee bidder winning I think.... Bidder / Ratings Price Quantity Bid time g*6*p*** / 26605 High bidder 63,349 yen 1 2018-09-24 10:02 t*V*7*** / 47190 62,349 yen 1 2018-09-24 20:55 8*D*K*** / 0 46,000 yen 1 2018-09-23 20:26 Went higher than expected....but there are apparently several new collectors bidding recently that have no clue what they are bidding on.... A cel like this one should have went for 400 max....reasonably between 300-350....
  6. Distributed for free is a big difference than selling ten thousand....many people claim Macross is a niche franchise which I think sooner would be the reason why an officially licensed translation wouldn't pan out in terms of sales numbers.....I for one would buy it....I just don't think I'd have anything close to 9,999 other paying fans joining me...
  7. Wow...didn't think there would be that many folks actually willing to pay for a translated Macross publication. Sadly, if such a book came out....it would be copied and posted online in its entirety within a few weeks if not a few days.
  8. Nice.... The 1/72 also looks ready to go....looks better than the proto pics....my biggest concern was the shiny plastic....that looks to be gone....
  9. Insta-buys!
  10. You think you'd be able to sell "a few thousand" books? Just one translated volume of the MF books or the entire run?
  11. But that just adds to his mythos....
  12. Yeah....that is where Google translate performs the best....with short snippets of info that give info on the illustration being referenced
  13. 25k? Yeah...nothing in these books is worth that kind of money....as I said, most of the better releases are primarily artbooks....so not being able to read the Japanese within them shouldn't preclude anyone from owning them
  14. Well.....most of the better ones happen to be primarily artbooks... But if there is something you want to get a general idea of what is being said....Google Translate is handy....for an interview like the one in the Mechanics G mook....it'll be a challenge
  15. Nice....Post them up when you can
  16. It would be a good buy.
  17. Macross art?
  18. Great Mechanics G Autumn 2018 Thumbing through this mook reminds me that if it wasn't for Macross I'd still have no interest in any other anime
  19. Macross Modeling VF-31 VS. Sv-262
  20. no3Ljm = King of Wallet Destruction Gifs
  21. Golly....that was quick! Hope Amazon will deliver my DX -1J just as quick!
  22. No idea....wasn't there a MWer with contacts to Master Made. Never been a big fan of SD, but their Makuros was really cool. I'd pick up their SD Monster just to display it next to the HMR Monster!
  23. I just assumed they went legit and got the HG license to release it. If not, that was a bad investment considering the majority of them are still unsold and clearance priced. Maybe they acquired it for next to nothing? With that said I still hope they release the SD GBP set....financially crazy as that would be.
  24. I can only speak to the quality of their SD VF-1 toys....and those have slightly less quality than a Bandai 2002 1/55 VF-1 re-issue.... If you own or know of the Master Made Makuros (where's all the other stuff they teased???) then IMO that toy is very close to Bandai and Arcadia quality....so much better than KC stuff so far....really looking forward to their 1/72 VF-1S to see if they have made any progress from their SD collection in terms of quality/craftsmanship
