  1. Deja Vu! My thoughts on the avatar can best be summed up as Bono's opening words on 1988's remake of Helter Skelter... "This is a song Charles Manson stole from the Beatles...we're stealing it back"
  2. I always thought it made more sense to make the battroids larger than the average Zentradi. Not only would you want stronger, more powerful "infantry" to fight the Zentradi, but you'd want to intimidate the enemy Zentran with a larger looking, more imposing soldier.
  3. LOL! This is fantastic! The whip clips for the snap clap sounds was brilliant.
  4. So, they are just rambling about the capital ship designs of Macross on this Anime Maestro show? Can't understand Japanese and they have no subtitles, so I'm kinda lost. The SD animation is funny, but it's been posted before.
  5. VF-0D in Blue paint. It would make a nice change from the regular whites and grey low vis released so far (1/48's I mean).
  6. I owned it at one time. I didn't care for it at all.
  7. Don't suppose you have a hi res scan of this picture available. Perhaps 1600x1200?
  8. Can't recall when I joined. Perhaps the mods know. Regardless, it's been many, many years. Possibly as early as 2001. Welcome back to the boards btw
  9. Strange. If you can find it online, I'd like to see a picture.
  10. Huh? Volume 2 of what? The limited series was 4 issues, nothing more. Unless you're talking about the TBP of the ongoing Wolverine series started in 1988 or the "Best of Wolverine" volumes that collect both the 4-issue limited series plus Weapon X, Incredible Hulk, and Captain America issues that feature Wolverine as a guest star.
  11. The title is simply Wolverine (with a "Marvel Comics Presents" subheading). ISBN number is 087135277X, or you can follow this link to Amazon.com: Wolverine 4-Issue Limited Series TBP
  12. Hahahaha. This is great! "tell that overacting blob..."
  13. I just finished reading the old Wolverine TBP by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller. What a great story! I can't believe I've gone so many years without reading this tale of Wolverine. No wonder there were screams for Wolverine to have his own series once fans got a taste of this 4 issue limited series. This TBP, that collects the four issues, really put a character into Wolverine that most of us now take for granted. This was well worth the investment. I think this book is now among my top X-books of all time. I'll see if I can obtain Whedon's Astonishing X-Men books for cheap, cause they sound promising.
  14. That is a great design! You should really work on that and finalize it. Probably one of the best fan created Valkyries I've ever seen.
  15. No doubt this may come as a surprise to many, but I typically don't enjoy variable mecha. They are more often than not some kind of gimic that comes across as looking silly or one fails to see the advantage of the configuration into which it changes. Macross is one of the few science fiction franchises that pulls it off and does so with style to spare. The battroid mode of most Macross Valkyries are spectacular while serving a valid function and the fighter configuration obviously looks faster than any flying robot Ultimately though, I suppose non-variable mecha appeal to me simply because there are so many more non-variable mecha in science fiction than variable. I assume due to the difficulty of selling the concept of a transforming mecha and because some see variable mecha as less realistic, so few sci-fi stories bother with variable mecha. I like mecha all the way from traditional humanoid robots, to giant walkers, to slow moving, tank-like mechs, to small, human scale war machines, to powered armor. So many of the mecha have their place and in a realisitc military, a combined arms featuring various scales of mecha with different mission designs would be the only way to go.
  16. Totally understandable given the circumstances. I too hope some more Macross websites like MN find a home online.
  17. Not really surprised. The format always struck me as a novelty more than anything else. Laptops can already play DVDs and I doubt Sony would find many consumers willing to buy a PSP just so they can buy their DVD collection all over again in UMD format. Why my friend ever bothered with the format I'll never know.
  18. I certainly do. In fact, we need not less, but MORE Macross websites. Should the day arrive that MacrossWorld is no more, the english speaking Macross fan community would find itself without any home. Further, while the Macross Nexus is concentrating on aspects of Macross not covered on MacrossWorld, there is still more to the franchise that will not be covered. A serious, in-depth technical website is needed for Macross, something that is surprisingly absent for such a mechanically dependant fictional franchise. Also, a very detailed episode guide to Macross is a must. I'm not talking synopsis and the odd picture either, I'm talking detailed production info, trivia, and plot/story analysis for each episode (ala Lurker's Guide to Babylon 5). There is a great need for not just another Macross website, but at least 2 or 3 more.
  19. I'm sure most of us are grateful for the updates, but I guess a few still fear MacrossWorld may return to "internet relic" status. Regardless, the recent work is much appreciated. Thanks for your hard work Graham.
  20. I looked up these books on the net and I assume you're referring to the Joss Whedon books correct? Thanks for the suggestion, I think I'll check them out. Believe me, I know full well the tangled travesty that is the timeline of X-Men books. To call the franchise a continuity nightmare would be selling it short Speaking of X-books, any opinion on those "Wolverine Origin" or the "Wolverine The End" books? I've heard both good and bad things about these books. Doing a little research, it seems most fans still point to the Chris Claremont/Frank Miller TPB as the best Wolverine TPB, but I'd like to learn a bit more info about Origin/End if you have any opinion.
  21. This thread dropped off and I forgot to ask a question Can anyone recommend some good X-Men paperback collections? It's been years since I read any good X-books (the Jim Lee/Chris Claremont series, issues #1 through #12 was the last X-Men I read, well, aside from Sabertooth In The Red Zone). It would be nice to have a read through some good story arcs without having to search for the individual issues.
  22. Not a bad attempt, though the differing art/scan quality of the pictures taken from various websites is jarring to the eye (not to mention many of the mecha pcitures from RT.com, particularly the Glaug, look terrible). It would be really cool to see a nice side profile of the DYRL? refit of the SDF-1. The rt.com picture is pretty good, but I love the film version design so much more. It would also be cool to have franchise specific scales, like a Macross-only comparison and what not. At any rate, keep working and posting. It's a good start.
  23. Strange. This is the first I've heard of the book. The four-page preview was somewhat amusing, maybe I'll check it out.
