Sounds like a release just meant to placate the fans and get give the hate mail workers a break. Doesn't sound at all like they're serious about the release and this "limited time" only junk sounds just that. And what about future formats? Released on HD or Blu-Ray? All very good questions. Still, I suppose one can't complain too much. It's been a long fight for many of the fans and I don't want sound so skeptical when fans are no doubt quoting to me "Evacuate? In our moment of triumph?!"

Well, the teaser sure was fun. Director Martin Campbell looks in top form visually. The scene of 007 leaping from one tower crane to another was a fantastic shot. I'm jealous I'm still not sold on the casting of Daniel Craig as 007, but I think he can make a fine action star. He is a talented actor who was quite good in Munich and Layer Cake. I suppose Daniel Craig's role as 007 will all depend upon what kind of direction Campbell and co. take this new 007 film. As a traditional Bond, Craig is not an ideal casting choice. But the trailer and much of the pre-release buzz about Casino Royale would have us beleive the Bond character is going to be portrayed in a new way. They say the character is going to be less style and more substance. If that's true, casting someone like Craig might be a good move to push the franchise into a different direction. Some much speculation and so few real facts. As always, it's a waiting game

Whoa, Amped. Haven't seen ya in a while Nice picture

Christopher Reeve? Dean Cain? Master thespians they are not I'll certainly give Routh a chance, but he's not showing some amazing acting chops based on what's been shown so far. Not that Superman is really the sort of character that requires a lot of range anyway. As for Welling he's certainly capable of handling supes no problem, although I admit he's no great actor himself. Besides, one thing television is not known for is high quality writing. Any actor can be brought down by lousy writing, even in films. Ewan McGregor ala Star Wars is a prime example.

Well, no point in really critiquing if you hate all filmed X-Men "Fat"? Your female coworker would do well to stop idolizing Lara Flynn Boyle

Are they putting something in the water out there in cowtown, or are you just on crack? If X3 turns out to be an enjoyable film, it will be in spite of Ratner, not because of him. Singer FTW. 396314 Hey, ordinairily I have more faith in a director like Singer than some hack like Ratner. But I have to be honest, X3 at least appears to share direction and scope with the other X-Men films based on what's seen in the trailer, and the film also enjoys some smart casting. Like I said, the Superman Returns trailer is cheese. I also really don't like the casting for the leads in Superman Returns. Tom Welling should have been supes.

I really don't like the new trailer. It's very cheesy. The teaser was actually more promising. I hate to say it, but this new trailer is really campy. It's almost as if Singer is trying to play off Donner, perhaps a remake (stylistically) of the Donner film rather than taking the Superman character in a more unique direction. Damn, I've really gone 180 between this film and X-Men 3. At first I thought X-Men 3 looked poor and Superman Returns looked great. Now, post trailers, Ratner's film is looking much better than Singers. A sad state of affairs

Whoa! $1,700-$2,000 USD for the 110 episode boxed set? I'd love to see LOGH, but I won't be getting that anytime soon -
Perfect symmetry. Poor Shatner was a terrible actor as well, only fitting that Affleck take the role

Guilty conscience?

I love fictional starship designs. There's nothing quite so interesting as a very well designed spaceship when you watch a science fiction film. Of the big ships... Imperator-Class Star Destroyer, Executor-Class Super Star Destroyer, Acclamator-Class Assault Ship, and Venator-Class Star Destroyer (Star Wars) Orion III Spaceplane and U.S.S. Discovery (2001: A Space Odessey) SDF-1 Macross (Macross: Do You Remember Love?) Thurvel Salan Class Battleship (SDF Macross) Whitestar, Victory Class Destroyer, Omega Class Destroyer, and Shadow Vessel (Babylon 5) Glorious Heritage Class (Andromeda) When it comes to the smaller, non-fighter craft, I really like the junky smuggler/pirate/bounty hunter ships. The more the ship is portrayed as one's own personal spacecraft, the more appealing it is to me. I suppose it's much like the futristic equivalent of driving your own car. Except in space, there are no speed limits posted Millenium Falcon, Lambda Shuttle, Slave One (Star Wars) Serenity (Firefly/Serenity) The Bebop (Cowboy Bebop) -
Hey, I'm not judging. Alls I'm saying is that it's EXO's choice of lifestyles, not ours. 395677 "Not that there's anything wrong with that"

EXO's private life is his own business. If he wants to discuss why he hangs around in dockside bars, he'll do so at his own discretion. 395622 You twisted little man

I'm currently not a regular member at any other message boards on the internet. When MacrossWorld goes down, I'm pretty much cut off from the internet community. I have started visiting MacrossNexus with regularity, but the forums are quiet and not much happens. There was a time many years ago when I was active on no less than FOUR message boards and by "active" I mean visits daily with posts of substance (not just one word answers). So glad I don't do that anymore

Maybe he noticed that you're Canadian, and therefore MUST be on the wrong side of the fence on any issue. 395531 Bastard! I hate you! LOL!

You've got to be kidding me. The guy made a newbie mistake; it's only right if the mods correct him. We all make mistakes from time to time. Even I need an occassional smack on the head from the staff for being a sarcastic jerk, despite being a level-headed poster that most members tell me I am. Azrael has had moderate my posts several times, but I don't run to feedback to post a complaint thread. This is the way MacrossWorld is run and it's only fair. Monitoring of the MW message boards has changed very little for years. If anything, the rules have been loosened in the last year, allowing a much greater variety of off topic discussion than years previous. I don't see a problem.

Maybe he doesn't know what "disingenuous" means or thought that "abuse of Macross" is actually a compliment

I couldn't agree more. This goes back to my point about the abdication of responsibility. HG staff seem totally self-deluded about their perceived "rightness" that they actually speak against bittorrent and fan downloads, avenues of fan activity which the HG staff have actually forced by their own heavyhanded policies. HG initiates legal threats against businesses importing Macross to defend their supposed legal claim to all Macross, while at the same time claiming they have nothing to do with things like Macross Zero With no official access to Macross due to HG, fans have no choice but to resort to personal import and the internet to find and enjoy new Macross productions like Macross Zero HG then denounces fan download and import, a situation they have created by their own actions and threats. Interesting Commentary On The New Macross Dvds
Mr March replied to Mr March's topic in Movies and TV Series
Well, I'm going to join in then. I think a remake may be desirable simply because SDF Macross represents the best and grandest of the Macross franchise to many fans. A proper remake could kickstart the franchise with a new generation of fans. Granted, Macross has never been so much about the franchise so much as it has been about telling a story with some substance. I'm sure that sort of story is the reason many of us like Macross so much. It goes without saying that the style, feel, and tone of the original Macross - or "magic" if you will - would no be duplicated with a remake. I don't think it should be. So much of entertainment and art comes from timing. One of the reasons much of our favorite entertainment and art appeals to us is the necessity of it's creation. Writers very often feel the need to tell stories based on a perceived lack of this tale being told in popular culture or that the time has come again for a style of story that fell out of favor with previous generations. Even the non-writers of us understand this. Just look at all the great stories you enjoy from your youth yet you don't see any modern reiterations of these tales. We all wish more would be made of some great stories of the past that have really great potential. I think Macross would do well as a totally reimagined work of fiction, one which changes many of the fundamentals most fans hold as sacred. The theme of war and love would work well, as most operas function well from this framework. But the sequence of events and plot points should be changed to a more modern style. It also goes without saying that the old VF-1 valkyrie just wouldn't "fly" (hehehe) to modern audiences, despite the longevity of the design. Naturally, this is all just masterbation, as I'm sure a project like this will never happen. Anyway, that's my thoughts on the subject. -

My poor thread -
Me? An HG apologist? No offense, but only on a website like MW could I be mistaken for an HG/RT stooge. Don't confuse rational analysis for bias. I understand HG and their modus operandi, but I certainly don't condone their underhanded policies and smokescreen PR. Damn, I feel dirty at the mere accusation!

Very nice, but your colors feel off. Max looks more cyan or baby blue than it should and that Milia is definitely an orange as opposed to the red that it should be.
