Anyone Have The Predator Special Edition?
Mr March replied to NERV's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I have it, but I've yet to watch all the special features. I watched some of the special effects stuff which was good, but brief. You should be able to find some DVD reviews on the net. Amazon.com is usually really good for pissed-off customer reviews You could also try the digital bits website. -

I wonder how many people realized this was the Office (UK) spoof. 406737 Oh, I didn't catch that. I've still yet to see The Office with Gervias. That's clever though. -

A new dub? I didn't even realize the dub for this release was newly voiced. I'll have to give it a try. The old dub wasn't that great, so I hope this new one is an improvement. -
I'm getting the same error. If there are some hi-res pictures of Macross to be found, I wanna see!

The discovery of the PPB energy came about by accident, the result of the Fold system disappearing and leaving PPB energy in it's wake. I fail to see this direct connection you have with the PPB and OverTechnology Reaction engines. Since the Zentradi or any other race that uses OverTechnology lacks PPB on their craft, it's obvious that PPB was a human innovation of OverTechnology that again was largely stumbled upon by accident. I think you should rewatch the series because you're missing some very important plot points. Originally, the first use of the PPB system caused some kind of interference with the firing of the Main Guns. Since this problem never came up after that one episode, we can assume the PPB system was refined and the interference was corrected so as not to be problematic for other ship systems like the main gun.

The discovering and harnessing of the energy that made up the Pin Point Barrier (PPB) system was a result of the Fold System malfunctioning (most likely due to imperfect human understanding of the Fold drive). I'm not sure the Reaction engines of the SDF Macross have anything to do with this process, other than supplying power to a some kind of "field-system" (electro-magnetics perhaps) that would MANIPULATE the PPB energy into discs and move them around. In other words, you just need power to operate the field, but your power source isn't the origin of the PPB energy (at least not as it's described in the series). Based on that theory, if the humans figured out how to create PPB energy, they could do so anywhere (given the proper equipment). The PPB energy could then be used on any vehicle equipped with enough power to manipulate the PPB energy...say, a Variable Fighter equipped with Reaction Engines that produce an enormous amount of power. As for internal fold drives, it's obvious that as seen in Macross Plus, overtechnology is continually being refined and even improved upon by the humans. As such, the technology is being miniturized over successive generations, to the point that a fold booster can now be equipped on a fighter-sized craft. It's not a leap at all to believe in the near future Variable fighters will not only have internal fold drives, but they will be reusable for multiple trips. It is also only a matter of time before Variable fighters are equipped with FULL barrier systems.

Oh really? When it first became available, I read reviews and wasn't interested. But then my friend told me it was free because I purchased the Gold Set, so I downloaded it. I've been under that impression ever since. I'm very happy it was free for everyone.

I really got to sit down and finish the book. I read for a few hours and finished 150 pages, but I have to complete it. I saw potential in the film, but it was wasted. So far, the book is working for me.

Oh, I couldn't agree more. Sometimes it boggles my mind the amount of time I spent on video games when I was younger. I don't really know where I found the time. But then again, I lived in a small town growing up with nothing to do, so I guess I just answered my own question Final Fantasy VII was the first and last Final Fantasy game I will ever play. Way too long, tedious, and frankly the story isn't remotely good enough to maintain my interest. Just be thankful you realize you have to manage your time now as an adult. Some of my friends are still way to hardcore to be healthy

*snip* I really don't mind waiting for sequential stories in video games or films as long as the potential is clearly worth the wait. The Lord of The Rings films, Halo/Halo 2, and Half-Life/Half-Life 2 are all quality productions that I know are worth my money. I'd prefer to have them sooner rather than later, but it's not like I stop my life to wait for the releases anyway. I just read the review and it seems like the third Half-Life game is HL2: Episode One. Must say that's kind of lame. I think I might wait until all three episodes are released before playing. I'm not really that impressed with playing just a third of a game, I'd like the sequels in complete packages. Kinda sucks.

I often fall in love with the idea of mods, but I'll be damned if I have ever seen one that was completed. They almost always fall apart because the creative team disbands due to school/work/personal life. I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

So, has anyone downloaded and played the new Half-Life 2 game Episode One? I'm waiting to read the reviews before I decide. Although I loved Half-Life 2: Lost Coast that was released last year (I got it free for being a customer that purchased the gold edition of HL2) it was really short. I don't want to spend $20 on another addition that is THAT short. I'd rather just download a mod or a custom level. But if Episode One has more going for it, I think I might get it.

Positive! Think positive myk. Keep your spirits up

Too bad we'll never see GNR regroup ever again, as Axl Rose is busy suing his former band members (who are now part of Velvet Revolver). There's still GNR, but it's not the same. Once Chinese Democracy is finally released (IF it will ever be released), expect it to flop. 404657 Sad indeed, though some bands just have too many problems. GNR was pretty much one of those bands that couldn't prevent the self-destruction. Kind of ironic considering the subject of so many of their songs. In fact, I recall a quote from Rose on the subject, comparing GNR's problems to what Oasis suffered at the height of their career. I must admit, I would very much like to listen to Chinese Democracy once it's released (if ever). The album has become an anthropological curiosity of rock music. I can't recall any situation like this in which an album has been in production for over a decade.

Brown's creation is not the kind of book you want to hold up to examination, because it won't

Blast from the past. Don't care for hair metal myself, unless it's GNR's old stuff.

Hello. My Name Is Amir Massoud Tofangsazan ..
Mr March replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hahaha, sweet revenge Still, the buyer should have known better with lousy feedback like that (although there are many people scammed on eBay by people with good feedback). Unless the Amir guy actually had decent feedback prior to the 2005 incident... -
What Os/browser Do You Use To Vist Macross World?
Mr March replied to mikeszekely's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Mozilla Firefox, on Windows XP. I like the extra security, the layout, and the way you can manage bookmarks is superior IMO. I've been a PC user my whole life, but more out of necessity than anything else. They are cheaper and utilize more entertainment software than Macs, but Windows has always been such a horrible OS it actually makes me long for the days of DOS As things change, Macs are looking better for certain applications and I'm considering purchasing a Mac-Mini. I also finally purchased my first Apple product ever; a 5th Generation Video IPod. -
Now this is comedy; I feel odd because I DON'T have some toy horror story

X-men 3 Pics: Beast And Angel Revealed
Mr March replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Don't need this film to prove it. The message boards were rife with "this movie sucks" post-release for X-Men and X-Men United. In fact, I daresay "this sucks" is shouted loudly from fandom nearly every time a genre film is released. -
To be honest, there will always be people interested in certain aspects of any popular entertainment more so than yourself. Hell, fandom itself exists because of people taking their favorite entertainment more seriously than the casual viewer; take Macross for example Most people don't know or care if Jack Bauer uses a Sig-Sauer P220 .45 or that Lara Croft used a pair of H&K Super P8s; but there are plenty of fans out there who do. I don't think it's a big deal to delve into the details of a film prop, but if it hurts your own personal suspension of disbelief then don't bother. As for Blade Runner, the prop is simply a visual tool at best. We watch the movie and recognize the prop as a gun, accepting it's function as a firearm that looks futuristic. Obviously Ridley Scott put some more thought into the gun than other less important film props you'd see in something like Judge Dredd or Chronicles of Riddick. Fans can debate what the gun can or can't do, but nothing is for certain. All I know is I'd love to have a replica like the one seen in those posted links
-
Well, the Replicants (at least as they are described in the film) are stronger and faster than humans. It goes without saying that short of automatic weapons or rifles, Blade Runner units would require a very high powered sidearm in order to incapaciate a Replicant with as few shots as possible. Being a fugitive, especially military, it's not surprising that Leon was carrying one of these high powered pistols. Still, I don't think the absence of in-film evidence for two types of rounds (or audience interpretation of what is actually being fired) precludes the possibilty of two ammunition types. The lack of evidence works both ways, we don't know enough about the pistol itself to make a final statement regarding the possibility of two types of rounds. Ridley Scott's storyboards also count for a great deal and give insight into a weapon which we would ordinarily know nothing beyond what is seen onscreen as the audience. It's clear the intention was made to use a second ammo chamber and design of the weapon was created to serve certain functions, regardless of what actual scenes didn't make it beyond the cutting room floor.
