  1. If you're talking about the GR Andromeda, I know from my brief time as a fan during season one-two-ish there were a set of fantastic tiff files for the ship. They contained awesome five-views of the Andromeda in really high resolution. Sadly the show crashed early season two, so I jumped ship and ended up deleting all my Andromeda fan stuff from my hard drive. But they should still be online somewhere.
  2. I have thought about that, but there are problems I can foresee... This is a free, fan based project that I hope will be posted on the MAHQ. Credit is given to whoever works on it, currently just myself, but hopefully a second member. From what I vaguely remember, Nanashi had some odd demands regarding scanned pictures and translated text that he declared his own. This would not work for a fair-use fan project that's shared online, as it would be if Chris G. posts my contributions on the MAHQ. Nanashi was apparently angry with criticism of his above policy and critics noting his lack of any completed work during his time here on MW. There was also apparently some forum battle between Nanashi and Egan Loo over "accurate" translations and the difference between canon and japanese "fan works" that kept creeping into Nanashi's work. So there is apparently some bad blood between Nanashi and MW, so I doubt he'd answer to a request for help from a MW member like myself. Don't even know where to look to get a hold of him. That old website you quoted is no longer there. I'd be very interested in this. Maybe this thread will dig up some answers.
  3. I don't think I'd need the whole of the books translated, though naturally I wouldn't object if someone did. I'd like translated text on just the sections about mecha and ships, since those are the subjects on which I want to work. Still, I know it's a tall order even to get one page translated. But it couldn't hurt to ask.
  4. So do I. I own Macross Perfect Memory, Macross The Movie (Gold Book), and both Kawamori Design Works. Unfortunately, I don't read japanese so I only have the Macross Compendium to go off and the odd translated trivia that I've remembered from my time here in MW. It's not much and I need more.
  5. No catches huh?
  6. Love you zinjo!
  7. Yeah, and imagine people having an opinion of Macross different than yours? I vomit at the very thought. I'd much rather dismiss the critics by marginalizing their opinions and I'm glad you agree.
  8. HAHAHAHAHAHA Just noticed the shipping costs labelled as "FREE"
  9. Damn. If I would have planned ahead, I'd have stood outside for a few days to make a nearly $9,000 profit off the private resale of a PS3
  10. Ooooo, hypnotic
  11. If after two viewings, one still has to see Macross Zero again and again to make sense, the show better be an artistic, existential, autuer driven metaphor...that ultimately WORKS. Sadly, Macross Zero is not even close to meeting such criteria; it's just damn poor writing that requires too much ridiculous supposition to conveniently "fill in the blanks." Besides, the glaring holes in the sci-fi fiction of Macross Zero is far less relevant than the more serious criticisms of the story and characters, which I beleive myself and most fans find is largely responsible for the poor quality of Macross Zero OVA. Sara Nome's mystical abilities is just insult to injury at this point.
  12. "She called me gay. I'm not gay. You gotta talk to her Chuck. You gotta tell her I'm not gay"
  13. The only way I can see Macross making a big splash again is to create another epic war story written for the change in times or produce another side story with an auteur at the helm, like Shinichiro Wantanabe. Other than that, not really interested in some token anniversary project. It's shame too because Macross does have a modest cult following (both domestic and international), something that can be built upon and exploited to spearhead a more popular production. It has the potential to create a popular and profitable production that can not only bring in new fans but spur re-releases of old property products that are cheap to re-issue. Personally, I don't see anything happening. Nothing is on the radar and we're only months away.
  14. That is one hilarious caricature of Kawamori. This is the first time I've ever seen this picture. Got an original version before coloring? The bigger the better
  15. VERY nice. Venom looks nasty, just the way he should be.
  16. That is quite shocking UN Spacy. Thanks for the link. It's sickening to see one of my hobbies turn out like that. It's like one of those inside reports you see on "the fifth estate" or "60 Minutes" where the find out seniors are abused and mistreated in terrible conditions at retirement homes. Though surely not as dramatic nor serious, this is no less disturbing.
  17. Whoohoo! Please do!
  18. Actually the move to smaller rounds means that most likely more ammunition is a viable option while still maintaining the penetrating power necessary to overcome the advances in defensive materials and energy armor used on the Valkyries. So it's likely the VF-11 Gunpod has more ammunition than the old GU-11s. It's likely that muzzle velocities and munitions material play a more significant role in future gunpods, leading towards more destructive guns with smaller rounds propelled at higher velocities. They probably took advances used in the Defender Destroid, which had insane muzzle velocities of 3300 m/s for a 78 mm round. Like the miniaturization of various OverTechnologies like the Pin-Point Barrier system into a fighter sized version, advances in projectile weaponry no doubt lead to the adoption of smaller munitions that were more destructive, but also allowed for more ammunition.
  19. I'm getting the bug to work on some mecha profiles recently. I figured I'd at least give it a shot and see how well I do. Looking over the available Macross information online, it's come to my attention that aside from what is posted at the Macross Compendium, there is very little "official" text on the Valkyries, the SDF-1 Macross, and other military materiel for the Macross universe. Mostly, you get RPG crap and conjecture. So, I'm curious if anyone has any translated text on the Macross mecha, literature that you notice is missing from the currently available online sources. Any historical/technical paragraphs or any such thing available on the Macross mecha? I'll write the stuff myself if need be, but being as faithfull to the franchise as possible I'd like to see if I can find anything official first. Thanks.
  20. That is why you never buy at/near launch, unless the killer app was fortunate enough to see release at the same time (Like Soul Calibur and the Dreamcast). Unless they screw it up big time, the killer app (aka the selling point for me regarding the X-Box 360) will be Halo 3. Your mileage may vary.
  21. This is pretty much my opinion. Wasn't all that thrilled with the second film and I've yet to pick it up on DVD. I'm hoping the third flick is as good as the first movie.
  22. Periods...punctuation...prose; need it now!
  23. Is there really contention over that point? They are lame designs. *chortle*
  24. Aaahhh, a turnabout of off-screen action I see. I guess it could work, though it is pretty shoddy writing.
  25. Well that looks really cool! I liked the suit, Sandman looks great, and it looks like Hobgoblin is in there. Not sure why the trailer implies that the killer of Parker's uncle is still around, especially since the first film definitely established that the guy was killed. Regardless, I'm very interested.
