  1. As someone who is trying the ProModelers Wash for the first time this weekend, I can say it is pretty cool. My VF-1D turned out great, My VF-1A Max TV (bright white) has proven to be a little more challenging. The bright white almost stains when using the "Dark Dirt" wash. It look a lot of spit and rubbing to get it right. However, it looks the same as Rabidweasels pics, so I guess I'm doing something right!! I may try mixing "light" and "dark" for a somewhat lighter "dark" tomorrow. I have not tried a clear coat on first yet. May wait and try that for my Hiki and Roy. I will post some pics when I have everything finished.
  2. I noticed that too the other day as I looked at all my guns side by side. The 1D's gun is a lighter shade of grey than the more dark grey/almost black of Roy, Max, and Hikaru.
  3. Oh MAN! That is SWEET! all the little fighters are just awesome. A must have!!!
  4. Uhhhh....the fact that a cool little $20 toy has some very cool tampo and a $200 toy has NOTHING OR NEXT TO NOTHING!!!?????
  5. totally agree here, the more tampo, the better!! I'm a sticker guy and always put on as many as I think necessary to achieve a more actual model style look, rather than a "toy/anime" look.
  6. Man, you are a very talented individual! Can't wait to see this finished!!
  7. Probably gonna pass on this one, 1 too many Valks lately, I'll pick this one up way on down the line when it's cheaper, after the Bartley and Yellow bikes.....but I gotta say, I think the Beagle sculpt nails him dead on, way more so than the Toynami one....I went with the Toynami Scott and love it!
  8. Totally agree here.....we need a TV green Ver.2 one of these BAD!!!!!!
  9. Totally the opposite here.....Gonna stick with old school TV versions of Valks and Destroids only!! With the one exception being Roy's DYRL valk, which is close enough to TV for me.........and the first ver2 I got!
  10. LOL! Right! I'm sure all my "cheap looking plastic toys from some old Japenese or Chinese cartoon" will get chunked, but hopefully someone will have better sense when it comes to the Star Wars prop replicas stuff.......I think haunting is a GREAT idea!!!
  11. LAME! Yamato. Very Lame. Come on.......give us a 1:60 toy version with Hikaru and Minmei for $20 bucks and call it a day. OR as someone had mentioned earlier, package it with something...SDF-1 maybe......
  12. I just ordered the complete Macross Box Set on DVD, which I have never seen! I have had DYRL for a couple of years now, I'll hold off my vote untill I finish watching the original series!
  13. Sooo....as a long time reader and very new poster to this site, I took the plunge today and ordered the "Complete Macross" Box set off Amazon today. I own and have watched DYRL many times, but never the original series. Only the dreaded "Robo"-word since back in '85! LOL! So hopefully I will have fun and be entertained on a new level as I can play with all my new 1:60 Yamato stuff and watch the original Macross for the first time!
  14. Looks VERY cool and all, but why go with this first and not a TV version???? I'm gonna hold out...you know it's coming sooner or later!
  15. Yeah, Overdrive beat them by 1 day, but I'm still very impressed. Considering I ordered my Blu-Ray player from Amazon and they were like 7-10 days. Fail. lol.
  16. Here's a crappy cell phone pic of the collection so far......
  17. Got my Max VF-1A TV today! Less than 5 days from order to doorstep from HLJ! Love it! The blue is just awesome! 1 transformation in and no problems here! Bring on the Kaki, so I can have my whole Vermillion Squadron!!
  18. I'm in for both...just cause they are cool and different from all the other Valks!
  19. Fort Worth, TX!
  20. Sooo.......what's next on the Destroid List???? 2 down, 3 to go......Any updates?????
  21. Meh.....Easy pass for me on this one.....
  22. Thanks so much for the helpful info. Any more pics would be fantastic! I'm gonna attempt this on some old 1:72 scale planes that I could care less about and then step up to the valks when I feel right about it. Now...how to find time off from work and the gf to find time to do all this....hmmmm....lol!
  23. Ok...hey guys...LONG time reader, first time poster....I have panel lined my 1:48 VF-1S and an old 1:60 ver 1 VF-1D and a Masterpiece Alpha and Beta here lately, and used the smallest Pentech (or whatever they are called) marker available. That worked out great and all.......BUT I now have 5 of these new 1:60 Ver 2 valks to deal with....I've been reading along here, and I use to model build in high school and I do have an airbrush and used to be halfway descent. So my question is this...the marker approach aint workin on these, the lines are simply too thin. Tried a very small mechanical pencil too....ok, but not great..too shiny... How do you go about doing these "washes"? oil or chalk? Would like to weather these too...might order the cheap weathering kits someone mentioned above...Any help greatly appreciated....and I'm not scared to try some things.....LOL! I want these to look goood in the display case eventually!
  24. Here we go.... Just ordered my TV Max VF-1A and a Defender, to add to my collection: 1:48 VF-1S-(with super and strike parts) and Armor parts 1:60 VF-1D (ver. 1)--ick! 1:60 Ver. 2 --VF-1S, VF-1J, VF-1D, and Tomahawk. Revoltech Regult, VF-1J, and VF-1S (for good measure)--- Toynami (Beagle) 1:10 Scott-(Stick) Cyclone--Awesome! Toynami Masterpiece Blue Alpha-(crap) and Beta--Awesome! Lots of older stuff from the 80's from my childhood from Matchbox including Robotech SDF-1 and who knows who else....it's all in a box in my closet.
