  1. Muppets make the best Youtube videos ever.
  2. Musketeers were French (and other) soldiers. Wikipedia has a decent entry on them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musketeer
  3. If you watch it get the MST3K version, the movie is a dreadful turd - but Mike (or Joel, an't remember which) do a good job on it.
  4. That is the one. The Ridge head klingons were the original Klingons as well. The Asian looking ones where genetically modified to look more like humans, and there was a third group genetically modified to be more like Romulans as well. Just rememebered the title while I was writing this, it was called "The Final Reflection" here is the wikipedia entry if anyone is interested (not much there) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Final_Reflection
  5. Don't worry, in a few years George will have it out on purple ray with more changes...
  6. They decided to keep it friendly then. Lawsuits are a pain - even if the other side has no chance of winning.
  7. At least for the novels, it used to be that it was required to have a regular character in the novel (I have not read or kept up with ST novels in decades, things might certainly have changed...) The best example I can think of is the novel that focused on Klingons, the writer had to book-end it with a section about how it was a book being read by the crew of the Enterprise - just so that it had a tenous connection to them. (The novel was used as a basis for the Klingons in FASA's Role Playing game)
  8. Maybe, mabye not. If anything is Parody then Futurama is it. If the clips were not too long they could use them without paying anything, there is a good chance they may have paid just to keep things friendly though.
  9. Nothing wrong with that, the Reliant was nothing more then the enterprise with the bottom section removed, and a roll bar added to the bottom, Roddenbury signed off on it upside down and voila, the Reliant we all know and love.
  10. It is the best of the series, but Revenge of the Sith's fight between Annakin and Obi Wan shows the same level of skill. (we shall completely ignore the goofs that went with Mace Windo to arrest the emperor...)
  11. It certainly had it's good points, the scenes between Conan and his father were very good. It never really slowed down enough to give us any kind of plot, and there were a million "what are these guys? Stupid" scenes. (worst of the lot is the pirate ship getting boarded, don't they know what a lookout is?)
  12. Just saw it today, wife insisted, and although it was boring I have seen FAR worse (Latest Pirates movie and any transformers movie springs instantly to mind). On the scale of things it was merely a waste of time and money... Original Conan - Best This Conan - not good. Conan the Destroyer - atrocity
  13. Yes Those could use a bit of an update, the hud was fine (besides, just think what Lucas might do to it...)
  14. Noooooo.... Only sortof a joke, those monitor images (especially the targetting screens) are fine. A targeting unit should display the essential information and nothing else - those do that perfectly well.
  15. Which one, he had two (if the more recent one got off the ground). Back in the early eighties there was "K-9 and Company", where Sarah Jane was given a K-9 by the Doctor. It only ended up being a TV movie rather then a show, and downright horrible it was. The recent show I have not seen.
  16. True - but Lucas' claim that he had this "Grand" story already done and ready to go, but he had to pare it down to just Star Wars doesn't hold up, the particular rewrite we are talking about is not a minor consideration but the core of the "Grand Story" that was to come later. I have no doubt Lucas had lots of ideas and a basic outline in his head of what he wanted - but that is not nearly the same thing as nearly finished story just needing the final touches. By the time RotJ was filmed everything was more of less pinned down, not before though.
  17. I don't know about the specifics of this game, but many times this is done so the game can get released in Germany without needing to remove all the nazi symbols. It is possible to get exceptions (for historical documentary purposes, etc...) but it is an expensive pain in the butt from what I've heard. The Indy games, not being truly historical, would have a hard time getting the exception to begin with.
  18. Never heard of that before - more proof that his great story only came about after the success of Star Wars - the entire prequal trilogy is about Vader's rise and fall (and eventual redemption), none of which fits in with the original Star Wars in any way. Noooooooo......
  19. No not really, it is how he has convinced himself that he really thought they should be. Although he did have a grand over-arching story of which the original Star Wars was 1/3 (not 1/6) of the plot - the story at that time was very different, the Imperial family (of which Leia was directly related in earlier drafts) were all psionic users - and well known for being so (including leia). For proof of this see the early screentest footage (with Lucas' original abysmal dialog). So Lucas had ideas in his head, but those ideas were modified over time, especially in regards to Vader and Luke - Vader was NOT Luke's father in the original Star Wars, that idea only came up for the second movie (otherwise Ben would have used a better line then "he betrayed and murdered your father", maybe something more like "He betrayed the Jedi and destroyed the man that was your father")
  20. No need to get angry, just don't buy it - THAT will send a message that George will pay attention to. (well maybe, he is getting delusional - he actually seems to think his newer stuff is good)
  21. Are you Smegging nuts?
  22. Darn you! Now I want to see it.
  23. I'm sure G4 really didn't care if she was faking or not, strangely that is what actors get paid to do. (only person on the entire G4 staff that I think *REALLY* likes games is Adam Sessler - they fired off all the rest. And yes I am a grumpy old fart after they killed off "The Screen Savers" - the REAL one that is).
  24. The new BSG has been the best. Runners up (some merely for age, rated within what was on at the time they would be best.) Twilight Zone (really, neck and neck for the top spot, if for no other reason then "it's a cookbook!") Star Trek (TOS, others were good but TOS was the best) B5 (budgets and first season knocked it from top spot, Gkar and Londo almost make up for that though, incredible characters with great performances) Firefly (just didn't last long enough, movie was great too) Macross Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood Space Battleship Yamato (second season) Quark (Terrible, Terrible, show - good lord how I loved it) Buck Rogers (ok, it stinks too, but the female lead could easily have Played Misa in a live action Macross...)
  25. Hell, there have been so many "parodies" of it I can't even remember what the original was anymore. (I do remember Larry Hagman doing his take on the "who shot JR" scene)
