Macross Δ (Delta) - announcement thread
Graham replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Movies and TV Series
One of the reasons I think that the melee weapon from the Monster Hunter X video may actually be in Macross Delta, is that in the video, the head, suit and weapon are all labelled with the prefix "Nyalkyrie", i.e. "Nyalkrie Suit", "Nyalkrie Head", "Nyalkrie Weapon". The head and suit (armor) are obviously from the VF-31, so it makes sense that by extension the weapon will likely be too. Graham- 2715 replies

What Clones? By the time of the Force Awakens, the original clones from the Clone wars would all be dead due to the fact that they age twice as fast as normal humans. Look how old Rex, Gregor and Wolff are in Rebels and that's set what 4 years before A New Hope It's already canon that the Empire phased out clones in favour on human recruits or conscripts. As far as I know, it hasn't been mentioned yet whether the First Order Storm Troopers are clones or humans, but I'm inclined to think the later, given that the Empire stopped using clones long ago, otherwise every Storm Trooper may be a Finn clone........hahah

Macross Δ (Delta) - announcement thread

And again referring to the Monster Hunter X video on page 60 of this thread, the VF-31 in that video has some sort of possibly extendable spear or grabber, not a sword, which could be confused as a gunnpod in silhouette.- 2715 replies

That could well be a sheath for the sword in the Sv-262 fighter mode underside pic If I'm right, I'm gonna be like so much "I told you all so"....Mwahahaha- 2715 replies

Macross Δ (Delta) - announcement thread
Graham replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Movies and TV Series
I have a crazy theory, which I hope I'm wrong about. Oh boy, do I hope I'm wrong about! A few pages back (page 60 on this thread) there was a video of the VF-31/Monster Hunter X game cross-over, which showed a character (monster?) in the game (sorry, I'm not into those cutesy type of games so I don't know the correct terminology), wearing armor based on the VF-31 and carrying a melee weapon, that looked like some type of extendable spear. Now what if that melee weapon is actually in the Macross Delta anime, carried by the VF-31 and stored in the VF-31's weapon pod I guess. Now bear with me here. What if the reason the VF-31's carry a large melee weapon is because the Sv-262 Draken III pilots.......Aerial Knights of the flatulent kingdom or whatever they are called, also carry large melee weapons..............and what we have been assuming to be a large gunpod on the underside of the Sv-262 Draken III is actually a large sword, they are "Knights" after all..........groan....urghh!!!!! I for one like Macross style missile and gunpod based combat and DO NOT want it devolving into Gundam-ish melee combat! NOT COOL IMO! An occasional bit of melee combat in Macross is fine, such as Isamu with his bayonet in episode 1 of Macross Plus or Ozma with his Knife against the Vajura, but I DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT want to see every combat in Macross Delta devolving into Gundam style sword vs sword/spear/axe type melee combat, just because it may appeal to a certain segment of the mecha fan base. When one has long range missiles, cannons and beam weapons and transforming jets with insane maneuverability and incredible thrust-to-weight ratio, there should seldom be the need to engage in melee combat. I guess what I'm saying is I'm just scared and worried about mecha combat in Macross Delta going the Gundam route (I'm not a fan of Gundam). I want to see some cool aerial dogfights. If I wanted to see giant robots hack at each other every episode with lightsabers beam sabers, I'd watch Gundam. Graham- 2715 replies

What is interesting is the weapon used in that video. I wonder if that melee weapon will be featured in the Macross Delta anime, possibly carried in the VF-31's weapon pod.- 2715 replies

For those of us that either don't have the time to listen to them, or hate the very concept of listening to pod casts, could somebody please just type up the relevant interesting news.

I just can't bring myself to get enthused about the Hi-Metal R VF-1 toys at all. Having collected and owned most of the Takatoku and Bandai 1/55 VF-1 toys, nearly all of the Yamato 1/48, 1/60 v1 and v2, I've just got no interest in collecting another line of VF-1 toys. Especially when (a) I hated my first release Hi-Metal VF-1J from a few years ago and (b) I'm far more interested in the Macross Delta toys coming next year, so need to save for those. So have at 'em guys! I am however extremely interested in the Hi-Metal R VF-2SS with SAP.

Picked up the Bandai 1/72 T70 blue and white X-wing kit from a toy and model shop near my office yesterday. Got it for HK$169.00, which works out to US$21.66. Graham -
Maybe it's my aging eyes, but I've never been able to detect any pinkish hue in the plastic of the Arcadia VF-1S Hikaru and Roy. But yeah, they are certainly bright white.

Reduced my preorder with HLJ today from 2pcs down to 1pc, due to the news that a version with SAP is coming.

If Bandai release a 1/60 VF-19S or F worth the same quality as their VF-19Advance, I'll be all over multiples of that.
-
I think Bandai has enough experience under their belts with VF toys now, that we don't have to worry so much about Ver.1 toys. They have improved a lot.

I'd love to see Bandai's updated take on a VF-17D in 1/60 scale, but I can't see it ever happening.

I'm actually getting very excited to get my hands on this toy.

Just I find it interesting that Bandai seems to be deliberately targeting Arcadia and to a certain extant Evolution Toys, by announcing many of the same models that both companies have done or are plannng to do:

Actually, I meant +1 to Gubaba's statement about just wanting to see cool dogfights with a great soundtrack.- 2715 replies

Yeah, I also suspect if we do see NUNS make an appearance in Delta, they'll be flying a mix of VF-25s and maybe some old VF-171. I doubt the 8 years since Frontier is enough time to replace all the frontline VF-171 in service with VF-25s yet.- 2715 replies

Maybe we won't see NUNS in this at all. Although if we do, I wonder what VF they will be using in 2067? I'm also curious how the faction that is using the VF-31 got them?- 2715 replies

STAR WARS Merchandise Episode - 2
Graham replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Just picked up the Black Series double pack of the First Order Riot Control Storm Trooper and Poe Dameron in brown jacket with blue and white flight helmet. Sorry for the crappy phone camera pics. Graham -
Seems these would make great table-top wargame pieces.........hahaha

The VF-19Advance is close enough to the YF-19 color scheme for me that in my current cash-starved state, I can't really justify the expense of buying a YF-19 just for a red head arrow (and a couple of other minor differences). Honestly, I'm more excited by the news that Bandai will release a VF-2SS with SAP, even if it is only 1/100. Graham

I may be tempted by a DYRL VF-1S Hikaru, but not by a TV VF-1J. I'm a far bigger DYRL fan than I am a TV series fan. Graham
