    Godzilla isn't a friend to mankind in this film. He's the apex predator hunting after his prey. Humans are no more important to him than ants are to us. We are meant to be but meer observes to his actions. This is actually where the movie stumbles: trying to make Kick Ass an actor and participant in the plot instead of an observer.

    I don't get the "kid friendly" part (when I saw it there was a couple in front of me with a child under 10, and he was terrified at several points in the movie), but were you really expecting Godzilla to be the bad guy? It's been 60 years, and we come to expect certain things out of watching the Big G, the biggest of which is that we come to cheer for him.

    The title is trying to be too many things at once. Then again, so is DC.

    What makes him a bad director? I'm not a huge fan of his work or anything, but he's hardly incompetent. The problems I've had with his work have almost always been story related.

    I have yet to see a single X-related movie that was worth a second viewing. I am beyond skeptical about the praise for this one.

    It's being produced by Kathleen Kennedy and co-written by Lawrence Kasdan. What else do you want? Should we resurrect Orson Welles to direct?

    "Listening to the fans" would likely have left us with another forgettable film a-la Pacific Rim, and they wouldn't be fast-tracking a sequel. Godzilla has it's share of problems (Aaron Taylor-Johnson perhaps the greatest among them), but it's heart is in the right place and it got the essence of what we love about the Big G right.

    I really, really want this movie to be good. I almost need it to be good. This and Godzilla were the only two summer "tent pole" movies I really needed to be good. Godzilla delivered, now this has to. Please, please please be good.
