  1. I'm thinking we should keep all the show talk over here for book readers from now on. The show watchers on this forum seem to have little interest in any plot discussion that doesn't involve fighting. I don't know how many ways I can tell them we don't know what's going to happen, and it doesn't appear that I can comment on anything that seems interesting without being accused of having insider knowledge based on the books. Is there a single person among you who thinks the developing plotlines involving Melisandra and Shireen are filler? Anyone?
  2. NPR.org: First Listen: Faith No More, 'Sol Invictus' You can stream the entire album from the NPR site.
  3. /Film: Mad Max: Fury Road Is Spectacular Action Filmmaking Rotten Tomatoes - Mad Max: Fury Road Currently at 100% fresh with 34 reviews in (granted, many more reviews to go).
  4. Calling it now: Melisandra sacrifices Shireen to resurrect Jon, and in return Jon runs Melisandra through with Longclaw, causing the sword to ignite in a blaze of flame. The prince that was promised. That's just how I'm feeling watching the show right now. Great episode, BTW. I think we can boneyard the Griff storyline for sure, now.
  5. Jar Jar Abrams? Are you the kind of guy who spells Microsoft with a dollar sign, too? You being the expert, do tell us about all the times he's failed to get a good performance out of his cast or has directed sequences that were visually hard to follow or otherwise incoherent.
  6. Now I'm feeling like I need to work "Admiral Hunter" into every post that I make.
  7. Had we this community back when Armageddon came out, a good chunk of the people on the forum would have been loving all over it. Even if I don't always comment, I dip into every movie thread on this forum. I know what you guys like and don't like, don't kid yourselves.
  8. Except he's not done being an Avenger, because Infinity War. And you can't go from him being done at the end of 3 to showing up in Ultron without a single word. You shouldn't need headcanon here; it was sloppy storytelling.
  9. "Robinson Crusoe on Mars" is a classic. I absolutely love it.
  10. Because he's essentially done at the end of 3, and he comes back with no explanation. Then he's done again at the end of Ultron, but we already know he's back for Civil War and Infinity War.
  11. You can look at the Trek writing credits, his name isn't among them. The usual suspects of shite writing are on the Trek credits. You know who's name is on TFA writing credits? Lawrence Kasdan's (along with Abrams).Abrams also excells at getting good performances out of his cast.
  12. Yeah, Ultron isn't a bad movie by any stretch, but if I were making recommendations it would be Ex Machina all the way. Some movies deserve to get crapped on. Ultron isn't one of them (though, it does deserve some criticism).
  13. I'll add another: Alex Garland - Ex Machina Q&A Host Jeff Goldsmith interviews writer-director Alex Garland about Ex Machina on "The Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith" podcast. Spoilers, of course.
  14. Beat me to it. After Winter Soldier it really seemed like they were firing on all cylinders, but after Ultron (including this Civil War news), it's starting to look like the wheels are going to come off the bus.
  15. The entire teaser is all CG. Wake me up when they show some actual footage.
  16. Ok, finally saw this today. First off, no Star Wars teaser, but instead got a Batman v Superman trailer. TOTAL FAIL. Anyway, the movie, it was definitely entertaining--and even good--but not as good as the first one. It seemed like a much longer movie crammed into a smaller space. Ultron as a character was silly. His personality seemed way out of place. For the entire cast, many of the quips and jokes seemed off; right intent, but wrong line or delivery. Also, the dream sequence stuff was silly and unneeded, we know who these people are. And what was with that shoehorned Banner/Widow romance? Dafuq did that come from? Oh, and didn't Tony Stark "quit" at the end of Iron Man 3? And he quits again here? Well, until Civil War, lol. But hey, I liked it, though. And I kept getting this vibe from it like Marvel was showing DC how to do a proper Superman movie, if you catch my meaning.
