I think alot more people would crap their pants if he did follow the EU with 7-9. Alot of it is not good, and makes a mess out of the established filmverse.

I, of course, meant glorified, not glamorized.

The EU, to me, always seemed to me to be little more than glorified fan fiction.

Then you miss out on the Holy Grail for Blade Runner fans, the "work print".

Another "meh" episode. Gainax is still setting us up for the next big conflict. Setting up Simon for his next big hero moment. I am not expecting alot out of episode 19 either. Looks like 20 is where things are going to get interesting.

I was left a little "eh" by this episode. I guess its to be expected after doing a 7 year time skip in the middle of a series.

The new opening is crazy. Doesn't as flow as well as the first two, doesn't quite have the same beats to it, but still.

Yeah... a VF-1 is not going to appear in a TF movie sequel.

I think the colors are spot on. The darker colors have a certain richness. Big thumbs up. Isn't Macrossworld one word, though?

But the entire OVA contained so much retcon it was distracting. Hell, how many discussions did we have about the appearance of the VF-0 compared to that of the VF-1, and the "origin story" as told in SDF Macross.

Thats the real issue here. Its not Valkyries with mouths, or Sailor Moon bad guys. Its the retcon. Continuing down that road would further damage my overall view of Macross as a franchise, and thus my enjoyment of it.

There is nothing wrong with Hollywood. The problem is with the movie going public. They keep making crap because people keep paying to see it. How many horrid movies have been given attention with lengthy threads here? If I had a dime for every time someone on these forums paid to see a crappy video game or comic book movie, I'd be a millionaire.

Star Wars isn't sci-fi, its sci-fantasy. Its never been anything but that. Macross established itself as sci-fi 25 years ago, no matter how much Kawamori has tried to retcon it in the past decade.
