Seems like the Roy VF-1S is the 1/48 to get! There is an abundance of HIKARU VF-1S's that are on sale or are lower in price than other 1/48's because a lot of people did head swapping with the first and second release of 1/48's (Hikaru VF-1A & Roy VF-1S).

Hopefully Yamato will use the space between the bottom plastic tray and the bottom of the cardboard tray. In other words, when you lift the whole plastic tray, lo and behold, there is the armor.
