This is what they should have released back in the mid to late 80's. I wouldn't call this a masterpiece now, as this does not meet the bar. I am sure anyone with some even elementary model skills could put a little spit shine on this and make it look better. But TBH even if it was a "masterpiece" I still would pass, 8 or 9 year old me would love it, 43 year old me is like meh.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I probably would have jumped on this if it didn't have RS name plastered all over it. Pass. It did get funded though for those that went in on it. -
wow RIP, I met him by total random chance during a business trip over seas with a previous employer. I was the only one who recognized who he was and it shocked him that a Foreigner was quite familiar with his work. I should go through my stuff and locate that autograph. god speed man.

Well since we are now well into the Sunset of the Summer 2021 anime season, any shows that really stand out? Higurashi, Dragon Maid, and Duke of Death. Probably in that order. Lots of meh this season.. Next season is not looking much better, hopefully I am wrong. -
Super Spacefortress Macross iCade conversion project - In Progress

If people are selling your scans on ebay, that is pretty crappy. I still want to convert one of my 1up Counter cades. I again almost had an upright but it fell through my hands. -

Neflix's live action Cowboy Bebop
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think the difference with Alita was that the director is reported to be a huge fan of the original work. I also enjoyed the Ghost in the Shell live action movie as well, much more then I thought I would have TBH. After reading some of the latest internet news, it appears that the train wreck for CB has already begun. It does not bode well when actors start attacking the fanbase..- 303 replies

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You literally just named every anime genre on the face of the planet... lol The people who had issues with the aforementioned series, were the same people complaining about Uzaki-chan, and probably ever other fanservice anime. Speaking of fanservice anime. Megami-ryou no Ryoubo-kun,,,,, um yeah at least you know what its about in the first 5 min. lol I have changed my opinion about the 2nd Season of Kobayahi, its good enough that if you liked S1 you should like S2... Higurashi is still probably my highlight this season.. Cheat pharmacist is still the worst of this season.. -

Stampeed Valkyrie replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Nothing.. which is why it got knocked. The biggest gripes were about objectification of women.. and blah blah. Do a search for the series, you'll come across the gripes pretty easily. Speaking of Kanojo mo Kanojo.. Our group caught up to Ep 9 which i believe is the latest. I'm very much meh on this one. -

That series gets knocked too often by the "woke" crowd. Personally I went into it not really expecting anything other then a time waster and it ended up being pretty amusing overall. Along the same veins as Aho Girl, and the latest Kanojo mo Kanojo. -
Neflix's live action Cowboy Bebop
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Honestly I am more looking forward to see what Yoko Kanno manages to pull off, Netflix + Beloved Franchise = Dumpster Fire! This one probably won't irk me if it does bomb that much, CB was a good series overall but was never the level the Hype train of the last few years produced. I'm expecting Dumpster Fire, but hoping for the best!- 303 replies

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That is the zombie one right? The manga for that goes off the deep end. I never really could get into the anime for it. I'm pretty disappointed with another series that had much potential.. Shinigami Bocchan to Kuro Maid. The manga for this series actually gets quite dark and is well done considering on the surface it looks like a 1 trick pony show. The Poor CG in this title really kills the anime for me, I had similar thoughts with High Score Girl. -

Ditto, I enjoyed this series and getting this tossed in out of nowhere was a bonus. Sitting through a rewatch of Horimiya. Enjoying my 2nd run through. -
Neon Genesis EVANGELION General Thread

To me Eva will always be the Original TV series w/D&R and EoE. The Rebuild movies looked great and the first 2 were mostly recaps with some very visually appealing battle scenes. The 3rd had such a jarring disconnect from the TV series that it lost me, much the same as it did Shinji. IMO 3.33 went too far off the rails and became something else entirely. The final movie really had to work to bring it back into Focus, I do believe it did a pretty good job of that and overall I was happy with it. If this is the final Eva animation ever produced I am happy with where it finished.. no more and no less. Again though the utter disconnect during 3.33 really jars the viewer and is probably the low point of the whole project. So between the TV series, Renewal/Rebuild movies, and the Manga... which do you prefer?- 998 replies

Just watched the final Evangelion movie. Still abit fresh in the mind, and overall mostly positive. I have to admit I am pleased with its direction after the events of 3.33. -

It's too early to tell at this point. While I am enjoying it, I'm not all sold on it either. So far I am enjoying the first season more. -

lol, um yeah stick with it.. Nice Boat and all. I'm watching more this season then last and I am still really hard pressed to pick a winner. The only real standout is Higurashi.. Hamefura seems to have gone from all route lead to doom, to all routes lead to marriage. On the flip side the real stinker of this season is the Cheat isekai pharmacy blah blah blah one. My group is still screening it, but it took only 1 instance of the stupid dance song sequence while he was making something for me to flat out drop it. -
Calibre Wings models and releases
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to jvmacross's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Is this a joke? @Blackaces If it is... bad form. If not, then I'm done with Calibre Wings. I'm not interested in patronizing a company who openly attacks its customers.. and then comes on MW to gloat about it. Damn shame, I enjoyed your product.- 91 replies

My Bandai DX VF-1D just showed up from AE. The TV Super Armor is looking sexy on it. Might need me to locate another set in the near future.

Calibre Wings models and releases
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to jvmacross's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Honestly, I would. If I bought something that was collector in nature and it came wrecked I would not hesitate. I personally have not ordered directly from Calibre Wings, All of my orders were via Flying Mule and they box their items very well. Just yesterday my VF-84 F-14 arrived and though delayed was in excellent shape. Excellent price on the M&M though, I too would go for it if I didn't already have it.- 91 replies

[Netflix] Masters of the Universe: Revelation
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to Old_Nash's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I figured I would give this a go as this appears to be the topic of the hour. Honestly He-Man was never really a big deal to me back in the 80's it was more like just a filler cartoon between the things I was into. Looking back on them now He-Man like other shows from the 80s were pure cheese, but more on this in a bit. Having watched all of it, I was kinda just like MEH. I agree that they should have just called this series Teela and been done with it. Much the same as the Voltron reboot should have been called Paladins because of the utter lack of the title character. As mention previously the first episode was what I expected, had it carried that I probably would have had a better time with this. Back on the 80's cheese.. ALMOST every reboot has been utter garbage, and while I don't think this is quite Dumpster Fire material I can see why people are upset with it. honestly I see fans more upset that they were lied to about the finished product more then anything else. I find it dubious that anything like this would be popular with the Zoomer crowd, as this was directly marketed towards the 80s kids crowd. TLDR.. MEH it's about what I expect from hollywood anymore. -
Well that means they started shipping these things... hopefully mine is on its way.. the Mrs is gonna be thrilled...
