It was announced on Megumi Nakajima’s official website earlier today that Megumi (best known to most Macross fans as the voice of Ranka Lee in Macross Frontier) will be taking an indefinite break from her singing career. She will be continuing voice acting for the time being.
While no explanation as to the reason behind this decision has been given, it should be noted that the recently formed official Megumi Nakajima fanclub will also cease accepting new members at the end of the year, meaning that we probably shouldn’t expect Megumi to return to singing anytime in the near future.
Megumi’s third album and 5th anniversary concert bluray will be released in February, while fans will be able to see her perform for the ‘last time’ at her final concert in March.
EDIT: ANN has also reported on the story HERE.

Arcadia’s newest Macross product page recently went live and it’s for the 1:1 scale replica of Basara’s iconic guitar from Macross 7. Previously seen as a potential Yamato Toys release, we’ve been getting images of this guitar in trade shows and at the Yamato open houses for quite a while now. We’ve even had reports of Yoshiki Fukuyama handling the guitar in one gig.
Tentatively priced at 350,000円, this fully functional collector’s piece is obviously aimed at the biggest and most well to do Fire Bomber fan. According to the page, Mr. Fukuyama himself had input as far as the guitar’s body design. The guitar will be hand made and made to order. It also warns that each piece will take several months in production. Each run will be done in quantities, the first run will be limited to ten. A case, 4 picks and guitar strap will be included, with each item emblazoned with the Fire Bomber logo.
The third Macross Net Meeting ‘Listen to us talk!’ was held on Niconico Douga on Wednesday April 10th. The special was hosted by Chiaki “Kyanchi’ Kyan and featured three main guests. Or should that be May’n guests? Yes, in attendance was the singing voice of Macross Frontier’s Sheryl Nome, May’n, as well as Shion Tsuchiya (Ash in Macross THE MUSICULTURE) and famed Valkyrie artist Hidetaka Tenjin.
February 2nd, 2013 was a date that will be remembered for many things. For one, it was the birthday of Mylene Jenius (-18!). Of course, this meant that Chie Kajiura held another one of her ‘Mylene Night’ concerts to commemorate Mylene’s birthday. Most importantly though, February 2nd 2013 was the day that Chie irrefutably claimed the title of Macross cover queen, something that most people had previously attributed to Megumi Nakajima.
As previously announced, two Macross-themed talk/stage shows were streamed live through Nico Nico on Sunday, courtesy of Max Factory and the Good Smile Company to promote the new Macross 30 game, some Nendroid figures and a Sheryl statue, featuring the Macross newcomer, Haruka Chisuga and friends.
