  1. The conversation bit was more or less a joke, but I know what you mean.
  2. Not only that but a race of giants created by the same people that made the APHOS itself. Like... Aphos: You know I was going to kill you, but the Zentradi already did most of that and I don't want to seem anymore responsible since technically... ehh.. well it is my creators fault... so we'll just pretend this didn't happen, k? Humanity: Screw you chicken wing... Zentradi: Oh right, we're the only ones to blame, you were going to do the same thing but we beat you and now we feel bad about it because we like pop music.. yeah just go fly away before we beat you up too...
  3. The thing to remember of course is Mac7 was made in the 90s when CGI was relatively new. It probably didn't occur to the story writers who wrote that episode that they could CG a VF-1 over the VF-19 custom that they were using because it was still something new that wasn't used as often as it is today (where it is used in practically everything). It is the same thing as why none of the characters in SDF Macross have cell phones, because it was made in 1982 before there were cellphones (or at least before such a thing became common place, all they had in the 80's that was similar was the big brick portable phone). I would guess we are to assume that either in the Macross universe technology developed differently (especially after the crash of ASS-1) for things like cellphones and CGI or when we see these things used in Frontier like we'd expect then it is simply a retcon. After all perhaps Hikaru and Minmey did have cellphones, they just never thought to use them for some reason.
  4. Technically humanity has stopped fighting itself, humanity fights giants and vampire like Spirita eaters... oh and giant lobsters. Although you could make a case that humanity could still be fighting amongst itself, such as the events of VF-X2 and other things.
  5. The ending to the movie version is different. Events don't change but how it is shown is different, the fight with Guld and the Ghost is better from what I hear (FYI I haven't seen the movie version yet, but I downloaded it and plan to watch it eventually).
  6. Like I said, fighters of today do have eye tracking cameras, they just aren't used to the extent Macross has had them used yet. However they are designed for this purpose and they are probably working on a system that isn't as simple as it may look.
  7. Thanks Dio, I didn't know if anyone else here was in engineering, nice to know someone in that now. I know I'll be sticking with Aerospace Engineering (I'm focusing more on astronautical truthfully, but I like atmospheric stuff just as much) for sure, it seems to be a calling now. I agree, I don't like the idea of parts swapping. They can figure out how to do a full transformation for one toy, then they can do it for another/model. I was never much bothered by finger articulation, but I never used it for anything. As for shape, like I said before, in my mind if to make it transform properly and work as a figure/model then it has to be a bit thick or have some gaps, then that is the way it is and I am fine with that. I can use imagination to full in panel separation lines and gaps, and my imagination is huge.
  8. Now if only we can figure out in the VF-25 has any missiles not including fast packs, and if so where does it hide them. I want to believe it has some missiles of its own but the more we see, the more it seems it only has any due to fast packs. It is designed to be a slim profile though...
  9. Eye tracking is more useful than having the computer lock on to everything because as d3v said you can be more specific. The computer will just lock on to the easiest to hit targets or what is closest I bet. Also eye tracking is real technology, but not nearly as advanced as that yet (considering that is 50 years from now), and compared to the way we have to lock on now it is a lot nicer. Of course it looks also looks really cool when Ozma does it. .
  10. Sort of like AFOS put humanity on trial and now the trial continues, as in it never ended? Kind of Q, but I like the idea. I agree, I never thought they died, they just went 'somewhere.' Also I think it is possible we may learn something of what happened to them, Zero and Frontier are definitely related and I think that was planned from the start (start of Frontier more likely than start of Zero, but both are possible).
  11. Yes, Shinsen for ep. 7! Party time, thanks for keeping a watch on that Gubaba.
  12. I see, in that case I'm going to say there are a lot of pointless posts here ( )! J/k, but that is an interesting story.
  13. How can you say Macross has a high survivability rating when in the first Macross 70-90% of the planets surface was charred? Although this doesn't really cover main characters, but it's not like there haven't been main characters that have died. In general: Roy, Kakizaki, Guld, I can't speak for anything in 7 really and I don't believe Shin and Sara really died. So ok there haven't been a lot of main character deaths so if you were referring to that then I'll agree. However on the whole, a lot of people die in Macross.... just not main characters. I'll say this, if you find yourself in a Macross-esque situation, make sure your involved in a love triangle. Then you will be 90% more likely to survive (only 90 because Guld broke that rule).
  14. I'm not quite sure but are you asking a question Gubaba? If so I am not sure what you are asking.
  15. It didn't outright tell everyone it was a protoculture remnant but it is pretty obvious it was. Also in the beginning of Ep.8 of Frontier the voice over information guy talks about Protoculture and the Birdman/AFOS is shown. EDIT: Gubaba beat me by 'that' much! lol.
  16. I was expecting KlanForever, he never seemed that interested in the other two...
  17. And everyone is going crazy about loli Klan Klan and Mikhail.... Shin did disappear with Sara (theoretically it was her and the bird man that guided him away, possibly into a fold). Mao was the only one left to guess what had happened to them really because the UN people just went hush hush on it after it was all over, especially since there was no evidence that anymore more happened than a freak skirmish between the UN and Anti-UN almost a year after the war ended. Roy probably wondered what happened to Shin, but he would have gone with the cover up most likely. Also of course Mao did get a blood transfusion from the AFOS body, who knows what effects that could have had later, considering Sheryl's odd blood type I can easily see her being a descendant. Ranka is harder to pin down. I don't want to say they all are related as that seems a little to perfect, but her being related to Brera seems logical at this point. This whole episode has left me wanting to watch Macross Zero all the way through again so I'm going to have to download the last 4 episodes since I only have the first on hand, but I did enjoy it so it will be a treat. Also I'd like to propose a theory, but it's not necessarily a theory for the plot of Frontier (there is a thread for that), it is a theory on the production of it. It seems with all Frontier has in common with Zero and this last episode especially that Frontier seems to be a tying knots up show while still keeping its own aspects in. What I mean is, a lot of people wondered about the ending of Zero, it had a lot of mystical and unexplained stuff and it seems some of those things might possibly get explained in Frontier. I have to wonder if Kawamori did that on purpose and that is why Zero seems to end on an open note, maybe he planned to answer the questions from Zero with a story taking place almost 50 years later in the form of Frontier while at the same time providing yet another Macross story for everyone to enjoy. Think about it, Zero came out 5 years ago or so, I think Frontier could have at least been at the conception stage then. So I can easily see a lot of things being related here.
  18. I don't think Kronnang posting that here is wrong, it is fanart of a character from Frontier and the topic is called Fanart from Frontier. He was just saying for reference that he posted it once before, the fact that the thread is closed was a side note.
  19. I think if Brera is going to to do the Terminator thing for Ranka he's more likely to say "Come with me if you want to live."
  20. Yes but if the fold drive was damaged in that fight... well I would think it isn't easy to find parts to fix an internal fold booster when that isn't very common for fighters to have.
  21. Yes.... and I think the shoulder pads fold onto the arms which are behind the gun in the ventral fighter view so you can't see them very well. It is also possible the white spots face the fighter when folded in so you wouldn't see them anyway.
  22. *sigh* I don't see the aesthetic turnoffs any of you do, but then again I think like an engineer. I know the model is designed to be transformable and that means the fighter mode has to be built for that purpose and not to just be a fighter. The way I see it, sometimes we don't like things being ugly but the way things are designed every part and the shape of every curve has a purpose (now I know this is just a model and not something real, but I think this still fits) so from an engineering perspective if to make it work means it will have to look ugly (or slightly misshapen from what we expect a perfect fighter to look like nowadays) then it is going to look ugly (or slightly misshapen). However in that light I can understand why you then want a non-transformable, you want the pretty fighter that may or may not be able to be done with the ability to transform. So the only way to have that pretty fighter is to make it non-transformable. I should have thought of that earlier, I am frankly appalled at myself that I didn't understand why you'd want an only fighter mode. However that is why I am only currently a student of aerospace engineering and not actually an engineer yet.
  23. I agree. On another note I was sure the transformation was the same, seems to be true. I like that big gun, but definitely not good if Brera is going to be dogfighting Alto, make he'll get another gun? I really like that wrist/shield blade thing the VF-27 has, I was originally hoping for something like that on the VF-25, but hey got a tradition handle knife instead.
  24. I didn't care for the Chichiro sub of ep.9 but I may get this just so I know sooner what all was going on, but I might wait until there is more seeds. However I will definitely replace it with AiA once out, they are the best non-Shinsen sub group now that Gattai is gone (and they were getting very good with Frontier when they stopped). Still waiting ever so patiently for Shinsen sub of ep.7.
  25. I guess then it does go in hand with the newer cockpit styling where you can transform by manipulating the throttle stick instead of hitting another switch. Thanks.
