In the news thread I was making guesses about the concept art showing a VF-25S in Alto's colors with what seems to be an armor pack like what Ozma uses but with a BF beam gun. I at first theorized maybe Alto would get an armored pack option like Ozma later on (the beam gun could be something new introduced since they seem to kill these bugs easier), and d3v suggested since it was an S unit perhaps it is hinting that Ozma may go the route of Roy Fokker and Alto takes the mantle Hikaru style. I then said this as a response: I think it is a valid possibility and IMO would make for an interesting but darker story idea.

I kind of hope Ozma doesn't die though, it just seems that it would be pushing the homage envelope a bit. I know this series is already different and I like the homages thus far but I don't want it to go the same way the first show did. Have some things be different. Perhaps Alto is for some reason upgraded to the S unit (hence why it has an armor pack, it seems designed for the S unit) but not just because Ozma might have died. However I am open to the idea (and I suppose this should/could go in the plot theories thread) of perhaps Ozma getting injured enough that he can't fly anymore, but he still lives, that could add a lot to character development as he would feel he is no longer able to protect the people he cares about and he has to get through this personal crisis (I think I will post this in the theory thread).

Hikaru is a good pilot of course, but I think Vermillions good track record probably stems more from Max, who is the best pilot of them all (at least IMO, but I think most would agree), besides Roy at the very least.

No it is well known that sometime before Frontier the government was reorganized into the New United Nations, they said UN Spacy in Plus and I believe in 7 too, though I wouldn't be the one to know for sure. If the kite was there, it was UNS, NUNS has that crescent shaped logo.

Agreed, I think it was an early concept for the armored pack, but the large gun idea was dropped, or maybe we will eventually see it as an add on to the armor pack. By the colors maybe they also plan to give Alto the option of an armored pack instead of just Super.

Good wording, I didn't like that debate, I was in the camp saying it was more like the 19, but they both are like the 19. It is just position of the cockpit that is the same as the 19, the swing hinges on the 25/27 are much like those of the SV-51. To me the VF-27 is reminiscent of the SV-51 in a couple of ways. However the VF-27 and 25 are exactly the same in transformation save for the wings, that is for sure.

The Vajra don't transform... and the valk model does have perfect transformation, we know this (I am referring to the 1/72 models though). If your referring to the hopefully still existent 1/100 line.. in which case who knows....

I still like the pictures though, that is the most important thing for me. Also I'm sure Mr March will like those pictures for the M3.

There is more than that, they added pages for the VF-25 F, G and RVF super packs, the Ghost from ep.1 deculture and the Destroid firefighter.

I don't know about everyone Chas, but I was aware of that... but don't feel too bad, there must have been someone else. I've seen as a majority people are very unobservant so it wouldn't be solely your fault.

Here is a question for people in the mecha know. I know about SWAG Energy Converting armor and what it does, but for what does SWAG stand? I assume it is an acronym for something.

Well it is called "perfect transformation" for a reason I bet. As for the armor parts, we haven't seen any for the models yet but I bet there will be some eventually.

Perhaps an alternate point of view on the Mac7 decision from a guy who chose not to watch it (at least right now). I didn't bother to take the time to watch Macross 7, mostly because it's 50 episodes long and I don't have that kind of time, but also because I'm pretty sure it isn't for me. I instead read a long explanation of what happened in the show so I know what was there and some of that information has helped in my understanding of stuff in Frontier. So at the very least know what happed in 7 if you aren't going to watch it, it helped me and now I don't really feel obligated. As for the type of Macross fan I am... well I was introduced through Robotech and I was initially drawn to that due to the pretty Valkyrthens (then knowing them as Veritechs), fast forward and I discovered the real good stuff and I've been a Macross fan ever since. I enjoy the music aspect of the show actually and I am loving the songs from Frontier a lot, however I just don't want that to be the main point of the series as it is with Macross 7, I still do like mecha action a lot and I'm an engineering student so I see mecha in my own special way sometimes, I dissect everything they do and especially how they transform, I had a good working knowledge of how the VF-25 transformed by freeze framing the Deculture edition episode before the rest of the show started. I still see some people wondering how its transformation works, so I chalk that up to my mechanical mind. So basically if I had a list of the best episodes of Mac7 that didn't involve just the song bit and included all the stuff I like (mecha porn, music not being sole focus, and character interaction) then I'd probably watch those.

Noyhauser I actually do understand what you meant, of course a real life valk if existed wouldn't have those kinds of gaps, if they did I as an engineering major would be apalled. However in model medium it doesn't bother me, in the end to each his own. Excillon I agree, lets form an organization and start getting the funding to do that! Just because we haven't met any giant aliens yet doesn't mean a battroid isn't a good idea, lol.

Not only that but a race of giants created by the same people that made the APHOS itself. Like... Aphos: You know I was going to kill you, but the Zentradi already did most of that and I don't want to seem anymore responsible since technically... ehh.. well it is my creators fault... so we'll just pretend this didn't happen, k? Humanity: Screw you chicken wing... Zentradi: Oh right, we're the only ones to blame, you were going to do the same thing but we beat you and now we feel bad about it because we like pop music.. yeah just go fly away before we beat you up too...

The thing to remember of course is Mac7 was made in the 90s when CGI was relatively new. It probably didn't occur to the story writers who wrote that episode that they could CG a VF-1 over the VF-19 custom that they were using because it was still something new that wasn't used as often as it is today (where it is used in practically everything). It is the same thing as why none of the characters in SDF Macross have cell phones, because it was made in 1982 before there were cellphones (or at least before such a thing became common place, all they had in the 80's that was similar was the big brick portable phone). I would guess we are to assume that either in the Macross universe technology developed differently (especially after the crash of ASS-1) for things like cellphones and CGI or when we see these things used in Frontier like we'd expect then it is simply a retcon. After all perhaps Hikaru and Minmey did have cellphones, they just never thought to use them for some reason.

Technically humanity has stopped fighting itself, humanity fights giants and vampire like Spirita eaters... oh and giant lobsters. Although you could make a case that humanity could still be fighting amongst itself, such as the events of VF-X2 and other things.

The ending to the movie version is different. Events don't change but how it is shown is different, the fight with Guld and the Ghost is better from what I hear (FYI I haven't seen the movie version yet, but I downloaded it and plan to watch it eventually).

Like I said, fighters of today do have eye tracking cameras, they just aren't used to the extent Macross has had them used yet. However they are designed for this purpose and they are probably working on a system that isn't as simple as it may look.

Thanks Dio, I didn't know if anyone else here was in engineering, nice to know someone in that now. I know I'll be sticking with Aerospace Engineering (I'm focusing more on astronautical truthfully, but I like atmospheric stuff just as much) for sure, it seems to be a calling now. I agree, I don't like the idea of parts swapping. They can figure out how to do a full transformation for one toy, then they can do it for another/model. I was never much bothered by finger articulation, but I never used it for anything. As for shape, like I said before, in my mind if to make it transform properly and work as a figure/model then it has to be a bit thick or have some gaps, then that is the way it is and I am fine with that. I can use imagination to full in panel separation lines and gaps, and my imagination is huge.

Now if only we can figure out in the VF-25 has any missiles not including fast packs, and if so where does it hide them. I want to believe it has some missiles of its own but the more we see, the more it seems it only has any due to fast packs. It is designed to be a slim profile though...
