Ooops... What I meant to say is that at least Some of the CDJ orders shipped. I see Mommar's hasn't yet. I've only got one coming. Strangely, I got the notification yesterday but the tracking info via JP Post shows it shipped on the 23rd. Hopefully that's the same case for some other folks still waiting for CDJ shipping notification.
  2. Saw this again over the weekend, this time with my two kiddos (ages 7 and 10). I can now answer my own questions and make a few comments on what the kids found confusing:
  3. I can look at mine, Gatsu. I've also got my old build HERE and a few pics of the leg being built are strewn throughout the 10 pages of the journal but there's not a lot to show how it's oriented. The final pics are on the last page, HERE. By the way, that build was probably where I made the most new friends and contacts on this forum. A build log is great that way!

Same here. Looks like today's the day for CDJ. Well, at least some...
  5. Seconded. Using the brackets around spoiler and /spoiler still works but it took me a while to remember how to do that. So the code obviously still works, the button to do it in the editor is just missing now.
  6. I think it's likely to go on a leg. As I recall, they're fairly easy to remove and wouldn't surprise me if one came off in shipping.
  7. David, you have no idea the level of insanity some modellers go to produce exactly what you're talking about with the F-15C pic. You're only just barely scratching the surface. I'd invite you to the dark side of the modelling world sites that I frequent but I'm afraid you'd never be the same again. In all seriousness, there are quite a few sites that are devoted to showing others how they've gone about producing this level of "realness" in model airplanes. WM Cheng does a lot of this with the models he builds but there are many ways to achieve this and the number of techniques and tools is only limited by time, budget, imagination and skill. But here's one guy whose techniques I love, and although he's fond of language I don't tend to use a lot myself, I appreciate his humour and style of writing quite a bit: www.doogsmodels.com I'm dying to try out some of the techniques he uses on my 1J or some of the other larger toys I've got.
  8. Right, finally remembered how to post spoilers. Man, I got way too reliant on the old software's button for it... Concerning Carol's power acquisition:
  9. So as mentioned, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and am planning to pony up to see it again with my two kiddos, as soon as next week. But it certainly isn't flawless. And I've got questions about it, even after reading all the stuff I specifically avoided prior to watching it. Concerning Carol's powers: ...except I can't find the spoiler tags so I'll have to put off my question till I figure that out...
  10. Very good question! I didn't know any different so applied it straight on. I can't say I noticed anything too scary other than needing to apply a few coats but it's been awhile and @Sildani now has that particular specimen so I can't check it. I think the reasoning behind using enamels is possibly to do with paint consistency. Enamels are generally pretty thick, straight out of the container and the fact that they dry slow probably has some benefits when you're applying them to metal. But as far as paints reacting or doing scary things with diecast, I can't say I have ever heard of that being an issue. Has anyone looked really closely at the gear legs to see if they're coated with anything from the factory? I was under the impression they were clear coated. But maybe that's just an assumption on my part.
  11. I don't think he took any, Noel. He's suggesting he's lazy and that brush painting would be way too much work. As someone who has painted DX gear before (I did Isamu's YF-29), and used a brush, Lolicon speaks the truth. Though brush painting seems simpler, masking and spraying is way easier. Of course that assumes you've got the required tools for such a task. Masking tape, a sharp knife to cut it cleanly, toothpicks to burnish it down into the bay and recesses, preferably an airbrush... It sounds complicated but the results are far better than brush painting. I used a lacquer on my attempts and trying to get the coverage right, not having it dry too quickly, preventing brush stroke marks, not lifting the previous coat, all of this stuff was way too much work in the end.
  12. Just got back from seeing it and really enjoyed it. I did my absolute best to stay away from anything spoilery and I think it paid off. I was surprised by some things, not as much worth others and overall, thought it fit in nicely to the rest of the unverse we've come to know so far. Looking forward to seeing it with my kids soon.
  13. Or why they never released an Armored VF-25S or F model, for that matter. Come to think of it, did they ever have a kit with Ghosts for Luca's RVF-25? And then there's the VF-171 that never got a kit. Hasegawa's got a lot of stuff they could do...
  14. I don't have either (Yamato VF-0 or Arcadia Reactive Armor) but from what I've read, the general consensus is that it would be challenging. The chest width is the biggest obstacle. If I recall correctly, it's wider on the Yamato toy so you'd need to find a way to modify the parts on the RA to fit it, which would likely involve cutting the RA in half and adding some extra plastic. I guess if you're up for that sort of modification, all the other parts would likely be doable in terms of fitting it.
  15. No problem. I missed a few details, like the hinge and that little trapezoid shape between the cutouts. So here's an actual picture of the canard that I hope helps.
  16. Yeah sorry, I should have been clearer about that. I've personally tried the current DX pylons and they definitely fit. However, I've noticed the "rim" of the circle on the wings for the DX 1J gets a bit deformed if you twist the pylons in it. Not sure this is going to be remedied by the new "purpose built" parts. At any rate, I just think it's interesting that they're redesigning the attachment from what's currently on the DX toys, to this new arrangement. Seems silly to do that when the current parts fit. Unless it's as Chronocidal's stated and they're just modifying the Yamato parts. Even then, seems like more work on the molds than what would be necessary to just reuse the existing "triple fingers" approach.
  17. ...I'm working on it, Chronocidal. I had that thought about the distance from the wing too. As best I can tell, they've done it this way for looks. The Hasegawa pylon looks taller. A work colleague of mine is trying to 3d print up some mounts that I can glue into the tops of the Hasegawa pylons, so that modifications can be done entirely on the Hasegawa model kit parts, and not the toy. However, looking at the mounts in those pictures, they're totally different to what Bandai has on anything else Macross related (171, 19, 31, 262...). These look very similar to the Yamato parts as far as shape goes.
  18. Hope this is helpful. If that's a straight copy of the J shape, then the A is actually differently shaped, in addition to being bigger. I've added the extra line in red to show what I mean. I've also added some panel lines and colours that may (or may not) be useful.
  19. I think it's also interesting to note that the Siegfrieds are "custom" for this team anyway. As I understand it, the FSW design was considered non-standard and was developed specifically to ensure higher maneuverability for supporting Walkure. With that in mind, it's entirely logical that a "JA" could be an experimental non-FSW version. Plus, making the modifications to the fold crystals, canards, leg missile racks and let's not forget the nose sensors, is a pain!
  20. Great running pose! I don't think I can recall ever seeing that in pictures before. I can echo everything said so far. It really is a great design. Just wish we'd gotten that matte finish a little sooner than we did and that it was on the 25 design. It really is the first thing you notice when you compare the 25s to anything Bandai has released since the YF-30.
  21. Awesome use of those measurements, mate. I had no idea you'd planned this. Let me know if you need any other information, measurements or pictures. Have both the A and J and a few model kits too (Hasegawa A and Bandai J Kai).
  22. You've done well to get those super parts! Looking forward to your review.
  23. I've got a workmate who has a Prusa printer and uses Fusion 360 exclusively. Not a bad one to start with, apparently.
  24. We could assume that means they have a Flashback 2012 license and get all excited. But then we'd also have to have a harsh reality check because that doesn't mean they can also make whatever else appeared in the production. Sigh...

    VF-25F Renewal

No problem. Love that we've got people who review these toys and you've got the added benefit of reaching folks who may not know about Macross at all. So if there's anything I can do to help spread the word, let me know.
