Papa Rat Posted yesterday at 05:58 PM Posted yesterday at 05:58 PM (edited) It begins and I’m blown away! This is already super fun and satisfying. Just working on the test fit and removing gates etc… sanding and pinning later. Edited yesterday at 05:58 PM by Papa Rat Quote
wm cheng Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Wow! @electric indigo Such nice sharp details and I LOVE Orange - my favourite schemes. I love the nice clean look, so tired of all these weathered planes lately (doesn't anyone have pride anymore in properly maintaining equipment?!) Quote

I always feel like privately owned aircraft gets a nice wash and clean, while the military stuff tends to show more dirt and grime, but that may be due to dull paints. Quote
Thom Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago (edited) That Tucano looks great @electric indigo! The amount of intricate detail on that are incredible @Papa Rat! Edited 18 hours ago by Thom Quote
Papa Rat Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago @ThomYeah it’s wild how much detail it has. I’m really excited to see what I can do with it. (= Late night, but I just finished up removing all the gates from the pieces and test fit was pretty good. One side of a double hose piece that goes in the right forearm was having a hard time reaching a connection point. I think I’ll be able to remove some material, tweak it a bit and it should have a little more space to bridge the small gap. Or at least that’s the plan. Most everything is just blue tacked together right now and I’ll start to pin tomorrow if I have time. I’m nervous to start drilling into this. Some of the pieces are very thin/small. Never done this process but nothing to it but to do it I guess. Quote

Is it because of the curve of the hose piece? If it is, you can heat up the part with hot water or a blow dryer to fit the form and once it gets to the desired shape, dip it in ice water to hold the shape so it doesn’t try and warp back. Quote

It’s not the shape but the overall length. Two hoses are joined together in the ditch of the arm opposite side of elbow if that makes sense. Each hose runs down forearm to two connection points on either side of wrist. One reaches, the other is 1mm shy of the connection. I’m shaving away at the connection point where the two hoses are joined together. It’s getting me very close. Just a little more and I hope it will do the trick. Some trepidation in removing too much so I’m going slow I’ll work on it more after work tonight Also considered altering the angle of the wrist to a more straight position but that may mess up the other hose that’s actually connecting no problem lol Edited 4 hours ago by Papa Rat Quote
Chas Posted 46 minutes ago Posted 46 minutes ago @electric indigo Another spectacular plane! That prop really sells it, but your paint and finishing is gorgeous (as usual). Really great looking build. @Papa Rat that's a nice kit, lots of great detail. Not a resin expert, but if the parts are tiny and not load bearing do they really need to be pinned? Maybe some research is in order, as trying to drill and pin tiny, or thin parts may case damage and if not necessary then best avoided? The Minerva is coming along well. I decided to use a modified version of the paint scheme from the OVA, as I like the extra blue on the wings and tail fins. Quote
