Max Jenius Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Hey guys, I'm having a brain fart and was wondering what that old DYRL VF-1S model was that used to be the be-all, end-all as far as detail was concerned. IIRC, it was very limited run, but it was huge for the time. It had photo etched parts...
Valkyrie Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 That would be the 1/48 Ultimate Detail VF-1S Strike Valkyrie by Club-M.
505thAirborne Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 I think I saw one on Ebay the other day, If i had the extra money & time, I'd get one!! Detail heaven!!

VF5SS Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 There was a website attached to this message board once
jadefalconguard Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Click in my sig for a build up of this beauty. It was a recast from Hobbyfan, it might be still available there as a recast
Max Jenius Posted November 29, 2009 Author Posted November 29, 2009 Damn. Try as Yamato might, that baby is still the king for fighter mode.
Max Jenius Posted November 29, 2009 Author Posted November 29, 2009 hmm, it appears that you could actually build it w/o the FAST packs too. Anyone that can confirm this?
jadefalconguard Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 hmm, it appears that you could actually build it w/o the FAST packs too. Anyone that can confirm this? Yup, you've got the choice with or w.o. FP. FP itself gives you a choice between Super or Strike package
Max Jenius Posted November 29, 2009 Author Posted November 29, 2009 hmm, I wonder if anyone actually went the vanilla route...
505thAirborne Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Hey Max Jenius, heres a few more pics for you to drool over!!
Jeremy007 Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 (edited) i have this resin kit but i have not built it yet nor have i really given it a good look. Does it give the option to build it with the landing gear up? Edited December 2, 2009 by Jeremy007
505thAirborne Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 i have this resin kit but i have not built it yet nor have i really given it a good look. Does it give the option to build it with the landing gear up? From the looks of it, you should be able to make it both with the Gear up or down!! I like it with gear down myself!!!! But either way would look sick!!
Jeremy007 Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 cool. its about time i started on this beast.
nightmareB4macross Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 From the looks of it, you should be able to make it both with the Gear up or down!! I like it with gear down myself!!!! But either way would look sick!! The 1/48 UD Strike can only be built with the strike pack on. If you wish to make it a non-strike, modifications are required. There was a 1/48 UD VF-1, that was later released at WF, without any strike parts. I hope to one day own one of these. I personally feel this is the most incredible Macross model through out the ages. Timeless....

The 2 i built came with parts for vanilla and strike /super mode. This includes shims for the legs to pose them correctly depending on the version you pick. Heck i took an old one apart and rebuilt it in fighter mode using the spare bits that came in the second kit i had. The 2 were built years apart so i lost the first kits fighter parts. You are correct that a "Fighter only" kit was released at a later date. After that the rest came with options for fighter or super.
Excillon Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I almost bought one of these a year ago. But, I didn't feel I could do it justice, and there was too much other stuff out there. In the end, it's a beautiful kit, but I'm glad I didn't buy it.
