BloodRayne Movie

Recommended Posts

I don't know how many of you out there liked playing Majesco's video game, BloodRayne, but I count myself as one of those fans who liked it and who is eagerly awaiting the sequel being released in October. Yeah, love it or hate it, there was nothing like being a bloodthirsty vampire killing Nazis.

However, to the point of this thread, I thought I would share some news on who they got to play the half human, half vampire babe from the game for the proposed motion picture. Here's the news:

Kristanna Loken Signed for BloodRayne Movie

Terminator 3 star Kristanna Loken signs on as lead in film adaptation of BloodRayne Video Game Boll KG and Brightlight Pictures to begin shooting in August 2004 (Vancouver, BC) – Kristanna Loken, best known for her role opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in T3: Rise of the Machines, has signed on as the title character in the film adaptation of the popular Majesco action-horror video game BloodRayne. Loken will begin work on BloodRayne in August 2004 shooting in locations throughout Romania. As the film’s lead, Loken will play the title character who is half human and half vampire, driven by vengeance to overthrow her father, Kagan, king of all vampires....

So, there you have it. Another movie being made from a video game. And like so many others, it may have a chance to make it if it is done right. They can make a good movie from this game if they try. So, what are your thoughts? Just post the good and the bad as you see fit.

Witten and directed by the legendary auteur, Uwe Bol. Bol is best know for his cinematic opus House of the Dead and the upcomming Alone in the Dark. Expect much suckitude.

I remember when he said Tomb Raider 2 (Directed by Jan De Bont) was a piece of shyt. But it was damned watchable compaired to the HOTD "movie".

I forget which magazine.... might have been Game Informer... but a couple of months ago, I read that Uwe Boll picked up the rights to this and a few other games. And even more rights to games are being picked up by even more directors. Making game-based movies seems to be trendy these says, especially as a lot of games today already have strong stories and characters to work with. Problem is, for every one director who will put some effort into their movies and make an, at least, decent game-based movie (ala Resident Evil), there are people like Uwe Boll who seem to think that they can make a movie however cheap and crappy, and that the gamers will pay to see it. And they think that will make them a lot of money, because the videogame industry is enormous now.

That's Doctor Uwe Boll to the likes of you - he gets mad if you don't use the honorific....

That's okay. I get mad when somebody buys the movie rights to a game, then doesn't base the movie on the game.

Right you are, Ken. How could I forget that honorific? Just what is he a doctor of, anyhow? I remember reading it once, but had no interest in retaining that little factoid in my memory.

Man, now I'm bummed out. I know someone who bought House of the Dead and I made it through five minutes of that shee-it before I got up to leave. I was wondering who made that bucket of crap and now I know.

There's always hope that a decent movie will be made...

Then again, I'm not going to hold my breath.

Aw hell, I looked it up. It turns out the Dr. Boll got his doctorate in literature, which is ironic since I've said that he's the director most likely to be illiterate.

and just for kicks, here's his infamous rant against all of us HOTD haters.

"HOUSE Of THE DEAD was in a lot of territories a very big success. In Middle East, Russia, Spain, Thailand and South America was the movie similar to the USA and KANADA two weeks in the TOP TEN and a long time in the Video/DVD-Charts. In a lot of countries the release is coming up in summer. But in the internet are a lot of negative voices talking about the film and I wanna tell all this people that they are right and wrong.

If you think that HOD is poo you are right in a way because it is cheesy but you are wrong in a lot of ways. First of all if you really see the move on screen or DVD you will recognize that the CINEMASCOPE look of the movie and the sound are absolutly A LIST and not one percent less quality as RESIDENT EVIL or UNDERWORLD. Second: What is the game HOUSE OF THE DEAD about ? It is a cheesy action shooter. And dont forget I made a movie out of that game. I did not made a ZOMBIE movie alone - I made a game based movie. So the game is an action shooter game where you kill zombies - and if you really compare my movie to movies like RESIDENT EVIL or UNDERWORLD then I dont know what you was waiting for? In HOD we have a lot of GORE and a lot of action. Much more as in Resident Evil. The big battle in front of the house with the MATRIX and TURN TABLE effects, over 100 blood effects and 11000 cuts in 13 minutes will be film history in a few years because in NO OTHER FILM EVER was a similar scene. Also Rodrigez or Tarantino ever made a scene like this escalating action scene in HOD. I really tried to make out of a teenage horror script a special new form of a videogame based movie. I'm not 100% satisfied with the result but it was the maximum what I could do with the budget and script. And what is really pissing me of is that a lot of real horrorfans (especially on Creature Corner, IMDB, Yahoo) are not able to see a difference and judge unfair. Third: also if the story/dialog is cheesy the story has no big logical problems or mistakes.

Can you show me in HOD logical mistakes like in the remake of DAWN OF THE DEAD? How the fart in DAWN OF THE DEAD is coming the fat woman and the other people from the inside of the truck in the mall? How they are coming later back in the tunnel from the house of the sniper?

I write this because I read all that poo and I give my commentaries also. I startet filming as a boy and I had NO CONNECTIONS in the film industry, no nice uncle or rich parents taking care of me. I worked myself in the film industry, made movies like GERMAN FRIED MOVIE or RUN AMOK with NO MONEY and released the movies on my own, travelled to the theatres, talking to the exhibits and to the audience. That I make movies is not a result of VITAMIN B is is the result of my work and my dicipline and my talent.

Before you all write more poo about my movies you should look THE HEART OF AMERICA for example, the movie I did before I made HOUSE OF THE DEAD and you should see ALONE IN THE DARK. After you saw this movies you should have the balls to say "Sorry about my comments!". The weak part of HOD was the story - not the directing. In August ALONE IN THE DARK is finished and this movie is way above movies like UNDERWORLD or RESIDENT EVIL. And for BLOODRAYNE what we do this summer - we have a great script from Guin Turner (she co-wrote AMERICAN PSYCHO) and we will deliver a movie way better as VAN HELSING was (much darker and more brutal).

Uwe Boll

Umm...what?

Blah blah blah.

Umm...what?

For a doctorate holder in literature, this guy sure is inarticulate.

Arguing that your movie was better than other movies doesn't make it so. The general consensus is that House of the Dead is crap... and crap it is. Telling us about how you had to fight your way from poverty into the industry also doesn't make you movies good. Next time you see a movie, Mr. Dr. Boll, and think that you can make a better one, don't, because you are the only one who actually thinks that your movies are better. And stay the hell away from my videogames.

wow, rather self-important... isn't he? Trying to place himself on the same level as Tarantino... He should be castrated, tarred and feathered, and dragged through the street.

Quentin will send his pal Al Pacino over for a nice little chat..

  • 1 year later...

Watched the trailer, Vader's hands were too small, and there wasn't enough Southern Cross.. Oh yeah and Arnold isn't in it, so basically I hate this movie with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns.

That trailer reminds me of some of the 80s sword and sorcery movies. Suddenly I want to watch Beast Master, again.

I remember reading an article where Uwe Boll said that in the second movie he'd like to have Rayne show up in the old west, and in the third drop her into WWII. It shouldn't take three movies to start getting close to the source material.

Why do they let this man keep making movies?
