  1. Anon hath spoken? (for those who don't get the reference... I suspect 4chan had something to do with this)
  2. A guy on 4chan recently posted high quality rips of the laserdiscs (or DVDs? i forget) of Mellowlink, but they were unsubbed and on rapidshare so they were a pain to get. Definitely downloading these, though.
  3. They've been working on M:F for over 6 months. M0 had single episodes that needed that much time to 'close' to the anime look, and on an OVA budget at that! Your BSG comparision fails because the CGI studios where BSG is done are very mature studios. Japanese & Asian studios are not even near the same level of maturity and are still only marginally advanced from the late 90's. It would still take the J-studios at least 3-4 months to get even near the same level as M0, but the BSG studio could do the same in under 6 weeks at a much higher quality level. So IF they do keep the Spring release date it would be best to wait for the DVD releases, so you don't have to suffer with Aquarion level 4Chan QUALITY!!! Basically don't expect better quality than what has been seen in the trailers. Sure they could squeeze in "OLD crowd favorites", but that's about it. The whole 'logical progress' idea has long been thrown out the window because they are still using design ideas that are over 70 years old.
  4. Ah just buy the durn thing! Seriously though I attempted to look up the artist involved and could only find vague references on Google about some of the artists anime. Has anyone found any of that artists other works??? I really don't want to try 4Chan for this...
  5. WuT!?!? Given the 4Chan level of QUALITY writting that existing in today's media how could you REMOTELY be "conflicted n' stuff".... ...good god does that sound like something from Penny Arcade...
  6. The only place I use to ever hear that argument was on 4Chan! Where hate = love. But the people who generally say what you've said was that are the people who are rampant fanboy's who are so wrapped up in their 'love' for GitS they'll shout down anyone and everyone who remotely disagrees with them. Survival of the loudest if you will, I guess. I do think that people have long ago accepted the style change in 2D CG, but find the pure 3D CG work too jarring from the norm when it's not heavily smoothed out like in the Gits2 movie, and that's part of the issue. It just wasn't polished enough. AppleSEED suffered from inconsistent work and a switch to an immature medium that doesn't have enough talented (not just skill taught) people in it yet to make it look 'great' straight from the beginning. But even when people say that "It looks bad!" it maybe a single scene, area, or object OR even half the show to the entire show. However it nowadays can not be so casually dismissed as "subjective" because of the shear amount of CG that is thrown at us on an hourly basis builds up so much exposure to it at ALL levels of quality that if it's not equal to the mediums leading style it truly is substandard and thus "Looks bad." through long experience & exposure to the standard. ----- @Batou, GitS did start directly after AppleSEED ended. AppleSEED ended one month and GitS took it's place the next month. Appleseed had some SWAT action in it but the leads were moved quickly into Special Forces (you don't go out of country on military counter-terrorist or riot actions otherwise). I throughly believe that SEED focused Shirow's ideas for GitS with SEED's nearly continuous talk of defining human(ity) and all of the geo-political talk.
  7. charger69 I like that car. It's got good line and angles, so much so that I find the design has aged VERY well since 1995. You're right though, it does resemble the Lola T70 more than a little. I'm glad the update helped you find pictures of this vehicle. Zinjobular I agree! I've been thinking of a new section for the M3 where I'd dump all the miscellaneous fun stuff. Fan custom coloring, custom line art creations, wallpapers, et cetera. A VF-11D Custom outfitted with VF-11C Atmosphere/Space Super Parts would be ideal. I don't think it'd be all that hard. A worthy project to consider! Lonewolf I'll take your word for it In all seriousness, I am glad at least a few fans are enjoying the Macross 7 mecha. If nothing else, they are fun to look at just as a very brightly colored alternative to the rest of the franchise chrono Don't be shy reporting errors if you see them. If it improves the M3, that's all that matters Well, I'd be loathe to compare anything on my site to 4Chan, but perhaps it is kinda silly. But if it got a chuckle, that's my goal vermillion01 That sounds like a wonderful idea. I encourage you to go make that website and I'll host it on the M3 if you like Hehehe, seriously, I'm self-taught in HTML and only know just enough to be dangerous. That kind of thing is way out of my league. I can see the implications to a mecha site. It would be VERY sick, as they say these days Sumdumgai I've not seen any four-piece canopy transformation pictures for the VF-11D. However, the line art for the VF-11D is different from the VF-11C and the whole forward nose/cockpit has a redesigned shape. Bet you never noticed If you look closely, you can see the VF-11D forward fuselage is much larger; both wider, longer and reshaped compared to the VF-11C. The thickness of the VF-11D would be really noticeable sans Super Parts, but I don't know if that kind of line art exists either. It's important to remember the statistics and remember the artist. Kawamori is a perfectionist and detail-minded. I know it's easy to dismiss statistics because so many mecha shows abuse them. But... THIS...IS...MACROOOSSSSSS!!!!!!!! Hahaha. Seriously, the VF-11C is length 15.51 meters long while the VF-11D is 16.02 meters long. That difference is not only reflected in the official numbers, but it is also reflected in the actual design. The forward nose is longer, less sleek and wider. Here's several comparison pictures; you'll notice a difference right away (and I'll include a second batch showing significant differences): Lastly, the Battroid line art can be somewhat deceptive. It accentuates the VF-11D four-piece canopy cover (as do the colors and shading). Take a look at the canopy covers as seen from the battroid mode (with Super Parts) top view for a more accurate perspective.
  8. I'll be able to shed some light on that. APPARENTLY, The term GAR originally was coined by one of those weirdos on 4chan image boards. He meant to comment that he was "Gay For Archer" but he typoed and instead typed "I am gar for Archer". Archer was in reference to a character in Fate/Stay Night visual novels. Archer was deemed one of anime/game/manga's most manly of men and commands a sense of manliness and heroism that rivals Arnie. His eventual fate apparently caused "manly tears to be shed". The rest was history. I think the GaoGaiGar reference came later since his name happened to be Gar and he was off hotblooded nature as well and that fit the Gar word. So now any person with hotblooded manliness can be used with GAR. I wouldn't usually quote urban dictionary as a source....but it seems accurate in this case. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=GAR
  9. Yeah they were fun! 2 shot wonders when they got around a 'Toss walker or Carrier though..... That Terran unit looks more look a Gundam/Monster/Glaug/Armored Core kitbash that belongs on 4chan!
  10. Beautiful work. Can't go wrong with Itano Circus. I've seen you around 4chan. Still planning to add Focker? Welcome back to Macrossworld Phil!
  11. Someone posted all my stuff on 4chan? Or just the Minmei? They didn't mention where they got it from? Someone tracked my website down based on your post and told me about it.
  12. It seems everything ends up on 4chan! Anyways, BoB is a member here on MW, his full username is Beware of Blast. Though I doubt he'd mind you using his picture as a reference.
  13. Actually I don't know who made that illustration - I got that image on 4chan... So, I didn't ask permition to use the image as reference - but, if had some problem, I will remove.
  14. I have no idea of who made that Minmay figure - I got these images on 4chan /h/
  15. i remember seeing a screen shot of the cow going into the turn a... ahh, good ol' 4chan
  16. Only nerdy ppl will catch this. (Nerdy enuff to be in 4chan)
  17. Someone on 4chan 'shopped the various T'formers into one big picture and said, "Now throw in Bay's shooting methods...". I thought 1 thing train wreck!
  18. I would never use the GameSpot/GameFAQs Forums as evidence of anything except the poster child of raging ridiculousness. Sadly while GameSpot has always been a quality website, their forums join the likes of IMDB, 4Chan, YouTube, et cetera as the worst popular forums currently operating on the internet, IMO. Having said that, I would also say that by far, mediocrity is the hardest result for anyone criticizing a weak product. Quite simply, mediocrity represents the great majority and many have simply accepted it. It's all too easy to bash Postal or Deer Hunter when the vast majority despise such games. But mediocre games are hard to attack in the company of fanboys because mediocrity itself becomes a defense. Remember the famous words... "It's not great, but it's not that bad" It's almost as if mediocrity becomes some kind of victory. The fanboys cry "You see! The game isn't nearly as bad as the bashers exaggerate!" as if that excuses the game for being a weak product. I wouldn't worry anyway. The sales will speak louder than any of these pitiful fanboys claiming UFOE is a great game. This baby is headed for obscurity faster that you can say "bargin bin." And I wish it wasn't so, cause we all just want a really good turn-based squad combat game. My hopes are on the next game.
  19. Read about the blow-up on of the various forums on 4chan this morning. Not alot of happy campers out there right now. Heard that they cut the prologue and epilogues for commercial reasons.
  20. I've never bought the "Director is responsible!" for what is simply poor animation that is supposed to be under the control of Quality Control. Frankly I think they attempted to get cheap (like how? it's all freaking digital!) with their production in order to save money, and attempted to play this off on the Director involved with it when the fans cried "WTF IS THIS CRAP!" over it. I also think that Gaynax did it intensional for promotion reasons. But then again the animation quality HAS been pretty (4chan) QUALITY since the beginning.
  21. I know it's an unpopular opinion among the other places I visit on the web *cough 4chan /v/ cough cough*, but I think it could be fun. I used to love going to the arcades and playing shooting games, so this could be the best of both worlds: Resident Evil and a light gun game. Of course, Capcom has tried this before on the PS2 (?) I believe, and failed miserably. I think Capcom sees an opportunity to get casual gamers who like the shooting range from Wii Play into one of their products, hopefully leading them to the main RE games. Hell, my wife likes the shooting game in Wii Play and horror movies (she like the Resident Evil movies ) so this is at least a rental in my house.
  22. Yeah the anime is made of 4chan QUALITY. But after watching ep1 again I'm warming to it's characters, especially the Yoko character who has some neat little body movements(not 'the bounce') and attitude(her VA's voice doesn't hurt either). That and you've got mecha making heroic Getter Robo style faces!!!
  23. So how many times goes toward 'liking' something. DO, is great even if the plot gets a little wonky at one one. It had one of the best endings in an mecha anime. It didn't make you sad or happy, but it was along the lines of fulfilling. Top noche animation design(takes you back to the detail in the later 80's Macross shows) and a very nice music theme, even if they were to cheap and played it to death(LOL!). Perfect Blue easily ranks in the top 5 of 90's animation, and that's partially due to Katsuhiro Otomo being the special advisor to Satoshi Kon. By the time PB rolled around Katsuhiro had plenty of experience with this genre of film and his guidance show! Every once in away 4chan's /m/ section gives up something 'good'. 24. Found this at 4chan. A Rafael landing on a U.S. Carrier.
