  1. Short version: 1 VF-25 with Fast pack and reflex ordonance can pretty much take out the whole Viper wing and the BSG in one go;)
  2. Well I will have to go by the one I just ordered 1/60 Version 2 VF-1S w/FP Roy's bird, almost went for the 1/48 Milia VF1J w/Fp but my better half took one look at our display case and said "bigger isn't always better" *edit* I get the omnious feeling that this hobby is bad for my wallet...
  3. Best thing about remakes it that you can ignore them Can't really name any good ones except Batman. 2008 has been terrible sofar as Hollywood movies go. I can count the movies I like on one hand: Cloverfield, Speedracer, Iron man and the Dark night, thats quite poor.
  4. Odd I was thinking of Ranma aswell. Klan being an aldult kinda takes the angle out of the whole thing worst case she pulls out her pasport. Hmm, Ranma, gender shift while being micloned, now that would be scary...
  5. I'm sort of debating to get a 1/60 Yamato (VF-1S w/FP first, can't be any other ). If those who have one, how does it hold up against the 1/72 Hasegawa kits in terms of details and looks? I know I shouldnt compare model kits with toys but at their price range they are more then just toys.
  6. Definitly those recuring jokes like the "No smoking on the bridge", the flower girl and the Milia's frustrations with aging. Also the baby scene is brilliant: Misa: Can I hold Komilia? Milia: No, she is mine, make your own... Misa: please Milia: "sigh" ok Milia: Catch! The rest : *shocked* Max: *dry* "Don't worry, Komilia has strong bones".
  7. Can't be worse then the whole Gamlin getting crazy over Mylene in M7 . She was 14-15 in the series so if we're talking about getting wrongideas then Klan Klan and micheal still have a way to go.
  8. I don't think Neya Michiko is Emilia's singing voice either. If you compare the songs Neya Michiko did for Innitial D and Gunsmith cats with Heart and Soul they can't be the same person. Emilias voice range is much bigger. Emilia could be a big name that doesn't want to be type-cast but we may never know.
  9. With a rubber boat and a paddle. But if your are remotely serious about going to Japan. Budget airlines or early bookings are pretty much the best option. I don't know much about the States, but in Europe Scandinavian Airlines is offering cheap flights and Jetstar in Australia is a budget airline who flies on Japan.
  10. Q and A: Anyone know what the name is of the artist that is the singing voice for Emilia Jenius in the M7 movie and the Cd single: “Heart and Soul”?
  11. I can imagine people misspelling it on purpose. Does't look good at work if you have a google search screen open filled with mentions of the KKK. Going to be hard to explain that you were looking for an anime character.
  12. Eva's ending was extremly controversial if not the most controverial ending in the whole of anime and split the fan base trough the middle. One half considered it brilliant, the other felt side felt left down and betrayed. Regardless of your own feelings about Eva, chosing such an extreme case as an example for a typical weak ending will not work. Back to the topic: If we only get one season I do hope that it will not become a rush job towards the end to complete the storyline. I can't really say if this is the case or not as I have only seen one episode per week. I can't get a propper feel for the pacing without seeing the whole season in a short time.
  13. For a slightly more exotic theory: Ranka turns out to be the clone of Alto’s dead mother combined with a Vajra queens DNA. A tiny error in the cloning process turned her blue hair green. Sheryl is the daughter of Grace Nome (whose maiden name was Langley). Sheryl was traumatised as a kid when Grace committed suicide (and was rebuild as a cyborg by Mao Nome who couldn’t let her daughter go). She is now on permanent medication against depressions. Also Ozma has an older half sister called Misato. Varja are the result biological experiment called “Angel” by the Seele corporation who sponsored the 117th science fleet. A defence contractor called Nerv had to file for bankruptcy a few years back after one of their mechas caused some collateral damage in Tokyo 3. The failed company was bought by a Zentran entrepeneur and renamed SMS. The Varja have a red mecha as their main heavy fighter. Thi is derived of a red prototype mecha called Unit 2. It could not function without an external power source. Splicing in a lobsters DNA in to the production model solved this problem. It also improved the taste of the mecha so it could double as a food source in times of scarcity for other Varja. Altos father is involved with a fold instrumentality project but details are sketchy. Non related news: it would seem Kawamori needed a short holiday and turned over the creative reigns for the last ten episodes of Macross Frontier to his old friend Anno. *** Ok, I need to lay of the coffee***
  14. hmm, given other threads my bet would be on GOD: "CONSTANTINE, ANOTHER ONE FOR THE LISA AND MINMAY AFTER LIFE EXPERIENCE" CONSTANTINE: "DAMMIT WE'RE OUT OF MINMAY'S, HOW ABOUT A SHERYL INSTEAD?"
  15. I don't expect a second season. Both Kawamori and Kanno came straight of the Aquarion project when they started work on MF. Probably there will be an OAV and or a movie next year while SK and Kanno catch up on some sleep.
  16. I agree it isn't much to go on but sofar it's all we have in terms of animated material. In regards to naming and plotted courses of the fleets the map seems quite accurate. Like matching the right ships to each fleet. No Megaroad 3 mission with an SDF-4, Macross 7 and 5 both heading towards the Galactic centre, M-frontier and M-galaxy quite close to eachother etc. The main flaw is that each mission is shown leaving Earth and Eden at exactly the same time for as you said esthetical reasons. It mixes up the relative positioning of everything in time. However showing a fleet that is supposedly lost 4 years after its launch still flying decades after would strike me as a bit odd.
  17. It would also explain why Megaroad 01 is still shown on the Macross Frontier Intro map by 2059. The fleet isn't lost.
  18. Question becomes now if it's canon if this information comes from a game instead of Kawamori?
  19. Perfect, just what I needed. Thanks!
  20. Finally got some time to work on a few kits that I had saved but never got round to do. First up is a Hasegawa VF-1A DYRL "Max" I bought a few years back. It's partially prepped and primed but I ran into some problems with selecting paints. My painting experience comes from figures and miniatures. My paint collection is build up from the gaming lines from Vallejo and Citadel and have trouble finding a propper conversion table that matches the Sangyo acrylics to the Vallejo/Citadel ones. I plan to go with the Hasegawa guides paint scheme for the most part except adding a few details here and there. I hope I can mix the colors to mimic the Sangyo colors. Doe the anyone have experience in that area or knows of a reliable Sangyo acrylics chart?
  21. Seems the source for the disapearance of the megaroad01 is a mail-in-gift for a video game. Guess I'll stick to the Macross Flashback 2012 ending. It's in the february section of the feedback: Compendium Love SK reply though: What is the fate of the original three? "God knows"
  22. While the OP is clearly trying to stir trouble it’s an interesting point. RT has some really nice music and voice acting. I love the opening music and Rick Hunters theme. Appreciating a music score is a matter of personal taste. I do prefer the Macross BGM as it’s more introvert and timeless. The RT score is more dramatic but also shows it’s eighties roots clearly, still it's very enjoyable. The Minmay songs are off course much better in Macross with Mari Iijima singing. I don’t care much for the Macross songs though, M7s J-rock all the way I often read complaints about the RT dub. I can’t agree on that. Imo the voice acting in RT can hold it’s own against some of the better dubs like NGE and Cowboy Bebop. (Note I’m comparing quality of voice acting not accuracy of the translation). And that’s pretty impressive considering it was done more then a decade earlier. Still the distinct voices in RT may not be to everyone's liking. Neither English nor Japanese is my first language, both sound exotic to me. Any sci-fi translated in my own language usually sounds pretty cheesy. I assume it’s the same for Americans who have to compare RT with Macross. RT would receive a far kinder fan response if HG/Tatsunoko hadn’t been such asshats by holding on to the international distribution rights of Macros sand strangling the general audience of the new shows and merchandise. Personally I reserve all my fanboy hatred for Urotsukidōji. That movie and the media coverage around it drove the anime scene in my country underground for over a decade and starved the fans of new content.
  23. Time outside folds goes much slower. I have been watching Macross again aswell and in First Contact Misa states that 1 hour in fold is roughly 10 days real time. So the crew of MR01 would have hardly aged in Macross Frontier if they spend like a month or two in fold since 2016. This could also explain why Milia and Max still look so young in M7. and yes, I doubt anyone likes Linn Kaifun heh.
  24. I doubt having recordings done in LA is an issue. The death of Arihiro Hase is more problematic. I don't know how much value a studio places on using the same voice actors.
  25. It's amazing how much these characters still mean to the fans. It's 20 odd years and we still are debating their fates. I don't know if the Japanese fans have bugged SK about the original triangler. They haven't been exposed to RT so if the fanbase in Japan was asking for more closure then I guess it's the characters. As been said before in this thread, nothing has been mentioned in any of the animation about the disappearance of the megaroad 01. DYRL/FB2012 gives a great open ending. In fact the intro of MF kind of confirms the DYRL/FB ending as you see the MR01 moving along just fine. The MR01 disappears slowly from view as the camera lens zooms in on the Frontier. Can't get more symbolic then that. In a more practical sense it's quite possible that SK and Co don't really want to use the original three with the Big-West/Tatsunoko law suit. As far as I know Tatsunoko is now the owner of the original SDF Macross animation with Studio Nue owning the character and mecha designs. Why would Studio Nue/Bigwest want to respark interest in a production they don't own? Problem with this idea is that Max, Milia showed up in M7 and Roy in MZero connecting these series more strongly to SDFM.
