  1. #3 came out in november, #4 in march 2010 and isn't #5 supposed to come out tomorrow? Maybe we are going to get 4 issues per year instead of 3 (once every 3 months instead of one every 4 months - beware, this is just my speculation).
  2. This is excellent! What's the new time gap between issues?
  3. Pity. The teal is one of the notable missing color variant along with the VF25 cannon fodder unit.
  4. Not that I know, but I'll get my hands on #41-50 saturday and I'll be able to tell you more after that date. Someone with the complete collection can answer: maybe it's on Liza's character sheet as an extra report?
  5. This is what doesn't really sound right to me. I'm sure a character sheet could certainly be fitted (like the errataed MTv sheet) in the last issue. But my rants aren't going to change history. The mistery remains!
  6. Thinking back at the missing Civilian 03 Macross II sheet, I think there are no B&W lineart of Wendy Rider. I remember that there are some gorgeous watercolours character sketches of her by Mikimoto on TIA Macross II but nothing more. Maybe I'm wrong, since I don't have the book at hand right now, but I'll check as soon as I get home. This would make her "disappearance" a bit more logical. How about Marduke's Zentran soldiers? Were they ever depicted in chronicles (I'm still waiting for issues #41-50)?
  7. Even if the animation shows them as completely identical (see in particular episode #17)
  8. Mr March's Mecha Manual is an invaluable resource and I think we can never thank him too much for what he has done, but in this case the colours on the VF1S (the triangles) are wrong. Roy (both TV and DYRL) has yellow triangles on the shoulders. Check animation, Memory Perfect, Takatoku 1/55 valkyrie, Yamato 1/60 v1 & v2, Yamato 1/48, (the list goes on).
  9. May very well be, I haven't really checked.
  10. as Snegoff told me, he was trying to imitate a british actor that portrayed Captain Blight (from Bounty) in an old movie. I don't know who he was talking about and he didn't remember the exact name but that's where the Kyron' accent comes from.
  11. Then I'll probably wait for Valkyries 2, I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. Thanks everyone! (MrMarch, if you find the link, please post it in this thread)
  12. I had a very interesting chat with Gregory Snegoff some years ago (Kyron's and Scott Bernard's voice actor but also script editor for Robotech) about this very topic and he confirmed what you just said. At the time, these were the concerns of producers and film/cartoon/tv programmes makers. The only thing is that they were not applying this "scheme" to kids only, he clearly stated that "Western audience (in that case American audience)" in general had to be always kept interested lest it could simply change channel and watch something else. He talked about cultural differences that had to be changed to appeal to the culture of the viewer. He also stated that nowadays, the general public being more aware of other cultures, that "scheme" souldn't be necessary anymore. It's all a matter of catching the widest audience that dictates certain choices, in the end.
  13. Robotech has HUGE amounts of dialogue added in, not only through the narrator. When in the original show you had only silence (or music + images to depict a scene), in Robotech many characters "think" during these moments, or (for example when they run or do some action) describe what they are doing. It's interesting to note that the promo tape "Macross" edited by Macek, which had to be a "faithful adaptation" (his words) of the japanese show into american language before Robotech came to life, already sported these inserts. Here's an example Macross TV (japanese) [no dialogue] Macross Tape (americand ub) Blasting through a warp fold from deep space, a vast armada of gigantic alien battleships is making its way gigantic through the Solar system in search of a damaged enemy spaceship which had retreated from battle. Robotech Blasting through a warp fold in deep space, a gigantic alien spaceship enters Earth Solar system in pursue of the damaged Robotech vessel which has eluded capture by slipping through the time space continuum. The command ship leads a vast armada of battle vessels manned by the Zentraedi, a race of warriors bred for thousands of generations for the sole purpose of military conquest. Talk about "spoiler alert"
  14. I meant The Micron Conspiracy, yes (I did remember correctly, then. It was all american). Thanks for the image, by the way. Yes, I think it was on a Macross calendar. This image also makes me wonder how many Gallery Sheets were left out from Chronicle after the "change of plans". We are left with no Macross Plus illustrations, for example (and the Macross Frontier ones are quite bland).
  15. As I only purchased Chronicle for the art, the VF2JA sheet is fine by me, but I can understand your frustration. As for the red and white 2JA (is it the one pictured on MrMarch's Mecha Manual?) it comes from a comic book that, from what I understand, is not to be considered canonical. By the way, I have it in the Viz english edition. I always thought it was simply an american rip-off, but it's been ages since I last read it. It was in b&w and I don't remember the red and white 2JA on the covers: any image to share? (maybe we can move this last one in the MII thread)
  16. Wow. I'm speechless. Incredibly amazing job!
  17. Absolutely, she's the one missing. As for other M7 haracters, I can't think of anything specific (maybe policemen, zentradi citizens, other bands, the UN Spacy veterans, punks and thugs). And to think that if they didn't waste all those pages on Mylene's wardrobe... (or song sheets. I couldn't care less for them. Every time I get to their section, I can't help but think "what a waste of space"). Is there no explanation for these missing sections? Like "Hey, we suddently run out of space!" 60 issues? Maybe. That would explain why they cut short many sections of the merchandise including that of the CDs (and that's almost unbelievable, since it's Macross we're talking about).
  18. I knew about M7 mecha sheet #11, but 9-13 from the civilian characters section?? Wow, that's a HUGE gap. Weren't they covered? Maybe they originally planned to have single sheets devoted to, say, Rex, Rex's gang, Akiko, Flower girl, etc. instead of cramping them with other characters.
  19. I still don't own the book but was planning to maybe grab it. I'm just curious: for those of you that already have it, how many "new" Macross pictures do we get that weren't previously published in the Valkyrie book? I know for sure these are "old"... ... and these are new. How about the others? Thanks!
  20. Yep, that's it. Speaking of the VF2JA, now that the MF blog works again, by "no color" I take you meant "no color Tenjin two spread page", right? (aww, look how cute it is in all its light blue glory )
  21. I though that was on the defence of Macross city, so Macross TV. I was referring to the "History" sheets, not "Chronology". But I still don't have that issue, so maybe I'm wrong (I hope!)
  22. Me too. I can't say for sure, but every sigle pack (no matter the size) that was sent to me by HLJ has been charged at the airport customs office. Taxes included, the items were still cheaper than buyin it in my country. With the global crysis, however, that has changed a bit. But I'm sure someone else here has some more useful advice to give to you.
  23. Hehehe, I knew it Well, since it's an imaginary picture, 011 is not that bad a mistake! By the way, now that chronicle is over (still waiting for my #41-50 to arrive, yum), we are left without VF25A/Cannon Fodder pictures (strange, since we got VF7 cf), the aforementioned missing M7 mech sheet (even if I think it was a simple mistake and that sheet 12 A should be treated as 11 and B as 12 - I know they have the same subject, but they have single sheet layout) and MII History sheet, righ? Since I keep them divided by series in this order - History, Character, Mecha - maybe I'll move MII content with the EXTRA mecha sheets. I'll miss it too greatly, even if my wallet was beginning to scream.
