  1. The mods you did are great! It would be tough to modify the crotch piece on the final toy, but changing the visor size makes it look waaaay better. I'm sure (hope) Kawamori changed the same things.
  2. I've been collecting toys for awhile now, and over the years I've sold a lot of my stuff on ebay, about 75% of my collection. Now the only non-macross toys I have are some old Diaclones, Binaltech, and my Masterpiece Convoy (Kawamori, so kinda Macross). I've even sold off all my extra Macross toys so I only have 1 of each model of valk (ie: the 0S, 51, 19 & 21) and my airbrushed 1/48 GBP-1J. I did all this so I could afford new Yamato Macross toys. With the new releases coming out, I got to thinking about all the upcoming 1/60 scale toys I would get if Yamato makes them, and I figure it would cost at least $1,700.00 (more than my first car), plus the monster, which I couldn't even imagine the cost (but I would still get it) The following is what I would get if they made them, because I'm soo partial to the original series: And even though only the 1S and Tomahawk are confirmed, there is little doubt that would at least make the other small destroids and all the valks on my list, so I'll be spending at least half of my projected cost (not even incluing the monster)
  3. I know it's a minor point, but I think this toy would look sooo much better if just the antennae weren't so far apart. I believe that's the main thing that makes this toy look not so well designed, even though the engineering behind it is fantastic. Details guys, details.
  4. joints are pretty tight. They are just ball and socket joints, but because the plastic is hard I don't expect them to get sloppy. My only GN-U complaint is no stands. And sure, they are pricey, but just like the bigger Yammies, They are awesome toys. The cost has been our collective issue with all Yamato's stuff, but we keep buying them. The Audi R8 is around 150,00 dollars, crazy expensive, but if I had the money...
  5. Here's the famous pair with a few panel lines added. And please, if you do panel line them, don't go crazy and make them too wide or dark. I sue a grey gundam marker, and then a toothpick immediately after to wipe the excess away.
  6. totally agree! If you pose them well, even chunky monkeys, more people tend to like them, but when some suit tries to pose a transformable toy for a trade show, I honestly think they reduce their sales. That's why Akihabara is great. Every shop spends time posing their toys in display cases, and it sells products. I'm just finsihing some fine panel lines and detailing on my GN-Us and I'lll post them all well posed later.
  7. Bandai 1/144 VF-11 from the Macross7 line of plastic models. Matched well with the 21 and 19, but alas, I sold all those too.
  8. I've sold all my 1/48 except 2 custom jobs (displayed here), and I've decided to keep 1 pair of each version of the VF in the 1/60 line. It's the only way I can still afford this hobby!
  9. I listed the VF-1J only: http://cgi.ebay.com/CUSTOM-Macross-25th-An...1QQcmdZViewItem I like the Stealth VF-1S too much.
  10. actually, you are right. the darkest "black" parts on the stealth are not totally black. It's funny though, the extra posed hands that come with the stealth are totally black, but that's the only part.
  11. nope. semi-gloss on the 25th anniversary one, and flat black and various shades of grey on the stealth.
  12. I sold all my other 1/48s except for a custom airbrushed 1J with GBP armor. Ive decided I'll only keep 1/48s that are unique, and then get all the regular release 1/60s... which brings me to my latest customs: It seems simple enough, but I had to paint the 1J head with semi-gloss black and gold to match the finish on the 25th Anniversary Valk, and then paint the 1S head in more flat shades of grey. I also painted the visor of the 1J with translucent green. I'm keeping the stealth 1S, but will probably sell the custom 25th 1J complete with box and all accessories.
  13. My only complaint before I saw the latest pics was the glossy finish, which... from the new pics, seems to be more of a semi-gloss, satin-like finsh, which is way better IMO.
  14. very easy custom. If you notice the seam near the end of the missile side, that whole end can be popped out. You may have to use a scalpel to carefully cut it a bit deeper as it is glued in. Once you pry the old missile part out, i cut some of it off and put it back in so it didn't leave a huge gaping hole. I made it so the new missile opening was actually a flush, flat surface, just slightly in from the edges of the opening. I then printed up (on sticker paper) a missile image I created on Corel Paint, sized it up, carefully cut it out with my scalpel, and stuck it in place. And lastly drilled a few new holes in the side of each missile pod. that's it! So make your own, or buy mine off ebay for cheap. I have 6 regults, so I'll probably keep 3 or 4 for my little army. I'm sure (I hope) Kaiyodo will make these evntually, and if we're lucky a scout!
  15. I just got six of these bad boys in, and I was bored. I might sell a few extra missile pod parts on ebay as I don't need soo many.
  16. I'm a huge fan of the Revoltech YF-21 because their over-exagerated proportions work well for that design, but I'm for bigger, solid plastic toys that can be airbrushed for details and weathering. And those GNU seems tightened up pretty well, no? I think I'll get the revy 21 (and I've already ordered 6 revy regults) and all the GNU's
  17. Thanks for all the votes and opinions. This has been very informative for me, as I've discovered we are fairly evenly divided on this. I can (and do) filter through the repetitive complining to find good info and original insight, but I do find it tiresome. And I voted "yes, I'm happy with Yamato overall". And great last post by transfan
  18. I love this forum for news, pics, answering rare questions, for sale/trade, and discussion with other MW members. Lately I've grown very tired of every different thread ending up as a Yamato complaint thread... the actual topic of the threads become lost. I'm curious as to what the majority of MW'ers think as I have no idea if I sit in the majority or minority... not that it's important, just curious to know. Which brings me to my questions:
  19. sorry for the delay. I dropped the starting bid, so maybe you can afford it now. I really didn't want to sell it, but I have to make money and room for the new 1/60 scale VF-1's and destroid(s) and Macross Fronteir toys.
  20. I didn't want to waste my VF-1j in the armor either, but it's just too classic so I did it.
  21. Graham can answer this best, but I do feel pre production shots never look as nice unless they are really close to the final production. My guess is that the joints and gaps will be much tighter. And I do like the stylized revoltechs myself, especially the 21, but the feeling of cheap and soft plastic in my hands does not fit with mecha toys. And a further bias (as a customizer) painting details and weathering are way better on hard plastic toys. Lastly, as much as Graham may not like the revoltechs, I do think they should get some more mention (not necessarily a cover shot, because remeber, the better Graham's relationship with Yamato, the better it is for all of us) Harry
  22. I would pay soo much for this kit. By far my favorite version of the landmate. All the later ones had huge thighs and small feet. I've only seen it for sale once and it was sold a week before I inquired about it. I'm selling my rare Briareos kit on ebay right now, but i would never part with that landmate kit if I ever get a hold of it.
  23. No matter what company the email comes from (ebay, paypal, whatever) and no matter how official it looks, just don't respond to any of it and definitely don't click on links and give any personal info. If ebay, paypal or whoever really have anything important for you to do, it will show up when you log in to your account.
