  1. You know guys, if you take the original version and just do a few details like paint the chest intake thingies, it looks pretty sharp.
  2. I love my stealth more than all my other valks (waiting on the YF-21), because the design is classic and the colors are awesome. And with just a little customization, it looks way better: GBP armor hands, paint the eye translucent green, and touch up the shoulders and heat sheild.
  3. I've decided to list this one on ebay, but I'll definitely have to make myself another one.
  4. I use the hands that came with the 1/48 GBP armor for all my valks. I just painted them
  5. I was bored with my VF-1J so I came up with this guy. Still thinking of whether I should keep it or sell it.
  6. They're the Kaiyodo gashapon from about 4 years ago. The scout is a custom I made out of a kaiyodo one and a nichimo model set.
  7. [attachmentid=43114] Does anyone know where I can get a hold of this kit, or at least pics of this kit?
  8. I agree with you totally. I'd buy multiple regults, but I wouldn't even care if the prices were reasonable. And knowing Yamato, does any one of us seriously think they'll make an affordable Regult? The price of the Mac Zero Ghost alone is about what most of you say you would pay for a Regult, and you know that'll never happen. I'd be a sucker (when it comes to Yamato, I think I have battered wife syndrome, even though I'm a dude and Yamato and have never been married). I'd get multiple Regults, just like my mini set: [attachmentid=43098]
  9. Yeah. I'm a sucker for semi-flat black. The Stealth VF-1J is my favorite (even though it never existed... as the other ones did in "reality"). I also prefer the Ivanov over the Nora Type, ad I would kill for a stealth black yf-21. In order to make money for those future purchases, I might have to sell my 2 new custom armors on ebay too, but never the Stealth-1J harry
  10. I made a few of each so I could keep one, and i still have another set that I haven't put stickers on yet
  11. [attachmentid=42807] [attachmentid=42811] [attachmentid=42810] [attachmentid=42808] [attachmentid=42809] Here are some of my latest customs: The low viz and stealth GBP armors and a custom Stealth VF-1J. The VF-1J just had some simple touches. I painted the shoulders, the eye lens and the heatsheild, but it looks way better IMO
  12. yeah, the monster is a repaint in semi-flat black.
  13. [attachmentid=42530] [attachmentid=42529] [attachmentid=42527] [attachmentid=42528] [attachmentid=42526] [attachmentid=42525] [attachmentid=42524] here's some pics from my collecton, but I've only included those that have been customized in some way (the GBP armors are on ebay right now)
  14. OK all I have a bunch of GBP armor sets for the 1/48 line and I was hoping for some help in ideas for customization. I'm going to do another stealth version (i'm thinking black and 2 shades of gray like the stealth vf-1j) but I haven't decided on any other possibilities. Any ideas? Also, you can PM me if you don't want to clutter the board. I have my detailed Urban Camo GBP on ebay right now because I decided to attempt a batch of custom GBPs
  15. You said it! It's like when I was a kid, my little brother played with my jetfire (well built chunky monkey) and broke it by throwing it. It's just a different level now. If you transform them correctly, they don't break. I have 11 yamatos and they're still fully intact.
  16. [attachmentid=41647] [attachmentid=41648] [attachmentid=41649] I reluctantly bought the Urban Camo GBP armor while I was in Japan, because I didn't think it looked nearly as good as the customized model it was based on. I figured I'd pick it up because I was there and would ant to regret it later. Well, it turns out I'm pretty pleased afterall. I did a very subtle detailing/weathering job that anyone can do, regardless of skill. I just used a gray gundam marker, panel lined it, and smudged it here and there. Then i used a brush with hardly any iridescent paint on it to hi-light some corners.
  17. oops, just listed it on ebay. I think i need to save money for the SV-51 and of they ever make a yf-21. I still have one more set of urban camo armor to customize h
  18. The paint is a semi-gloss black from krylon. The chest plate and forearms is a brown red from the woodland camo. I never painted them, but maybe another shade of grey would be nice. hmm. the urban camo one is actually nice if it could all be darker greys. i think that's my next project. h
  19. [attachmentid=41157] [attachmentid=41158] [attachmentid=41159] [attachmentid=41160] I just got this new stealthy BGP armor set. Customized it out of a set of woodland armor. Thinking of posting it on ebay, but I think I like it too much now. h
  20. yeah, i don't dig the green either. I'm going to paint the green parts a green grey or another shade of grey. h
  21. I'm in Tokyo, and the new armor set is out! I'll be back in Canada in 2 days, so I've already bought myself one, along with some other macross goodies. If they weren't so big I'd buy a whole bunch more. h
  22. I have: 2 x VF-1J 1/48 2 x VF-1S 1/48 GBP armor Strike Parts set 2 x VF-0A (stress marks on one elbow) 2 x VF-0S 2 x YF -19 and I sold my 9 1/60 VF-1 valks (which only had some diecast paint wear) and no breaks yet. If something felt too stressed, I would see if there were screws to loosen and vice versa. I know some people will always be unlucky enough to recieve the occassional quality control problem from the factory, but on the whole we should remember that Yamatos are expensive because of the complex design (nothing transforms like them, trying to be true to anime line art which depicts sleek fighters and tough battroids). Yamatos fall somewhere between Takara transforming toys and perfect grade gundam models, and that is absolutely fine by me. Yamatos will always be somewhat delicate. I mean could you imagine if you took your masterpiece Convoy and smashed him into your YF-19 with full force. I have no doubt which one would come up unscathed.
