Well, judging by the fact that NY was selling the remaining first release YF-29s and re-release YF-29s at the same time (for different prices ) I'd almost expect that to happen again. Except... they don't have any remaining stock of the VF-25F, so they might just list it in the same place this time.

Pfft. Very funny.

Actually having no trouble loading AmiAmi here.. so I don't know.

Oh, yuck.. stupid daylight savings. Used to be, 4pm Japan time was 11pm pacific.. not anymore. Probably another hour then. I might just ignore it.

Yeah, all reasons why I never apply any stickers at all to my yammies. I never even put the nose kites on my one 1/48th VF-1. Anyway, as far as the gunpod goes, yeah, it does point down a bit. It's kind of a combination of effects from the handle being short, the arms being high, and the crotch plate only collapsing so far. The speaker pod launcher for the Fire Valk is a little more straight.

Bandai 1/72 fully transform able VF-1 plastic kit for Macross 30th Ann
Chronocidal replied to Vi-RS's topic in Model kits
Is it just me.. or are the people at Bandai still completely oblivious to how actual aircraft mount weapons? I mean.. in this particular case.. isn't there some lineart showing how the twin reaction missile pack works? Every single time I've ever seen a pair of reaction missiles together, they're mounted sideways on a single pylon with twin rails, or whatever it is that holds them on. But they have this weird looking contraption that mounts two pylons on a plate.. I guess that might work, but why can't they hire someone who knows something about aircraft to help them design their aircraft kits? -
This is the entire reason I bought one of the VF-1D kits. Going to make a custom head for my VT-1. I still want a different set of DYRL figures for that one though. Did anyone ever make a set of Hikaru and Misa in their clothes from when they got stranded on Earth? You could probably base them on the Virgin Road Max and VF-1D Minmay as a start.

Got mine in earlier today (right before leaving my apartment for the weekend too ) and I'm liking it so far. Really looking forward to the super packs though. After playing Macross 30 so much, it looks weird without them. I think my main gripe about the design isn't even a gripe against the DX, oddly enough.. it's that the YF-29 was meant to be a field-modification/chop-job in universe. The entire "le'ts just use the VF-25's entire legs, but drop them a notch like they're carrying super packs" seems odd. I get it, but it makes for a lazy-looking design, because the legs aren't actually locked in place. Aside from that, I just think the shield attachment is pretty weak. If I can get a second one of these, I'm definitely stripping it down to the bare plastic and repainting it something that actually looks like a VF-1S.

Using the VF-1D kit of course.

Psh, I see what you did thar. Same for me, just got my YF-29 delivered from NY. ..Which still doesn't explain how LAX customs still has my VF-19S from HKC. The YF-29 was shipped almost a week after the VF-19, and I got it before?

Does that pilot know he's sitting on two reaction missiles? Looking beautiful!

Star Trek Into Darkness, in theaters May 17, 2013
Chronocidal replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Did they finally add in DS9 to the online selection? For the longest time, they had everything BUT that. If it finally is there, I'll have to go watch it myself, since I never did. As far as Voyager goes.. For all the hate it gets, it still has some of my favorite moments in Trek. In particular.. the entire WWII holodeck nonsense episode. No, it wasn't really good in any sense of the word. No, it didn't make a lick of sense that a holographic airstrike would blow out 4 decks of the actual ship if the safety was turned off. But I laughed so freaking hard at the entire mess that I didn't care. The entire episode needed Benny Hill music put to it. Also, Seven as a 1940s nightclub performer.- 1020 replies

I don't know why people are getting all worked up about what real plane a fake plane looks like. Leon: What manner o' thing is your YF-30? Mina: It is shap'd, sir, like itself, and it is as broad as it hath breadth; it is just as high as it is, and moves with its own engines. It flies by that which fuel it, and the elements once out of it, it explodes. Leon: What color is it of? Mina: Of its own color too. Leon: 'Tis a strange valkyrie. Mina: 'Tis so. And the missiles of it are missiley.

I just hope it goes better than the stupid nonsense with the YF-29 Alto re-release. So far, all of Bandai's "re-releases" seem to be more a case of: Bandai exec #1: "Hey, we actually sold more super packs than we did valks." Bandai exec #2: "Really? Well, let's just release enough valks again so the numbers are even." Bandai exec #1: "But how can you be sure everyone who bought packs will get one?" Bandai exec #2: Shrugs while the TROLOLOLOL song plays in the background

Heh.. well I'm not too concerned about getting multiples of these, but I might attempt to pick up a second of each if I get the chance. Can never hurt to have spare parts... or collateral for a house payment somewhere down the road.

If you avoid hitting any paint, a flight pose one is probably your best bet. The normal mounting point for the VF-19s is near useless because of how far forward and loose it is. Even holding it manually by the stand adapter, my Fire Valk wouldn't stay on its mount. That can vary a little by the particular valk and stand mount, but I just don't trust that mounting point at all.

I dunno about real aircraft, to me it's just an SV-51 with delta wings. On multiple levels even. The way it transforms is extremely similar, the shoulder covers just got blended into the main wing, and covered up with a bunch of little opening flaps. I'm still waiting to hear more about it, but I'd be okay with a kit instead of some blink-and-you-miss-it DX release. Battroid just doesn't do it for me because of the giant box hanging over its head.

Your best bet if you can't find a replacement might be to just cut the laser down to the base, and replace it with something new. You could cut down the rest of what's left on the head, and drill into it with a pin-drill, then add something like a needle into the hole to act as a brace. Then you can just add a new laser onto that, maybe made from scrap plastic, or even metal. Or, you might be able to drill out the existing pieces, and just glue them together with a pin between. Might work pretty simply.

Bandai 1/72 fully transform able VF-1 plastic kit for Macross 30th Ann
Chronocidal replied to Vi-RS's topic in Model kits
I'd say both are pretty good actually. The gear doors at least look like they definitely move (though that could be to plug in gear), and you can make out a sliding track on the underside of the chest that might be a track for the heat shield. Could also be a track to relocate the chest as a whole, but it looks like that uses a swing-arm. Course... we wouldn't have to guess at anything if they'd actually put up some finished product pictures before asking people to buy it. This is feeling like a kickstarter. -
I think I can.. I think once my last kit comes in, I'll have 22 of them
-
Yeah, someone did an actual McDonald's scheme by painting up some lineart... it was significantly more painful to look at than Basara's. Two words: Striped Stockings.

I actually have to say I really prefer the off-white from DYRL, just for the sake of preventing yellowing of the plastic. The bright white kinda worries me.

Bandai 1/72 fully transform able VF-1 plastic kit for Macross 30th Ann
Chronocidal replied to Vi-RS's topic in Model kits
Probably an A/S release with DYRL markings, and a J release with tv style markings. Hopefully they'll go the full distance, and release bundled M&M versions. -
Yeah, thought I recognized the mold. I've built a couple of those over the years, don't remember the nose being that off before though. I made it a mission to pick up at least one of every 1/48 F-14 mold out there for comparison, and they all have their ups and downs. Hasegawa gets definite points for their cockpit details, but in terms of mold quality and ease of assembly, I'd actually have to say the old Fujimi kits are even better. Don't recall if they had engraved details, and don't think the cockpit was anything fancy, but that was absolutely the most clean and simple fuselage assembly I'd ever seen on an F-14. Could have glued the whole thing in one sitting, and barely have to sand anything. I really should dig those out and work on them, but I just don't have room to display them in my current place. I usually wind up finishing sub-assemblies and cockpits, and chucking the kits back in the box for later.

Might be a really stupid question, because I think it only can go on one direction.. but.. do you have the nosecone on upside-down? It just looks droopy for some reason, could be a side effect of the tape over the joint.
