Not sure if this is the right thread for this, but has anybody ever thought about making the whole diecast lerx part of the v.2 VF-1 with Shapeways? I mean, the plastic lerx of the 1/48 works just fine and it's so frustrating when the paint chips on the diecast during transformation. If someone can make this to match the color of the DRYL and TV VF-1s and have a smooth finish, i'd definitely buy 1each for all my v.2 valks. I would definitely consider this an "upgrade part".

Painted already out of the box.... That was cool of Yamato. How about if you'd want to repaint the diecast lerx part of a v2 vf-1... What kind of paint will be least prone to paint chipping?... and how to get it to match wil the off-white color of the DYRL valks? TIA.

one of the best displayed collections here on MW. armor is good!... and I recently nabbed a set for my Max 1S. Here are my Super Max vaks. seats are good too... used the spare for my 1J w/ GBP-1S on a side note, i noticed a slight discoloration on the shoulder part (the part that attaches to the shoulder hinge ball joint) of my VF-1A Max. It looks like it's made of POM not ABS. DYRL off-white seems immune to this discoloration...

I know! I didn't bother asking myself if i really needed another set or not, i just grabbed it.I think the store didn't bother to up the price on this since its technically not a VF toy (????) VE-1 is @ ~$260+ and VF-4G @ ~$500

Are the diecast parts of the vf-1 kit unpainted? I noticed that the swing/hip bar looks unpainted. I'm looking for a type of paint that will match the DYRL white and will not chip off easily during transformation. These diecast parts endure a lot of heavy contact with the plastic during transformation w/c makes them prone to paint chipping. Again, awesome custom.... Very nice clean lines.

unless you really need the money or really hate Mac7, keep 'em. ............ there's hope for an updated YF-19 and a TV SDF-1! Plus, like others have mentioned, i do regret not getting a couple of obscure valks that got little screen time (VF-1D VR and Hikaru's VF-1J training valk)... but I do have all the valks that really matter to me. ...and what about that $466 VT-1... craaaazeeeeee! I'm glad I bought 3 cheap for me and a couple of other Macross collectors here years ago.

There should be another category for "what's the most you paid for a marked-up, oop macross toy." Kinda like the days of $1000 takatoku/bandai vf-1s. Especially now that there are $1000 Sdf-1s, $300 Max Vf-1S, $500 VF-1D, etc.

Just bought a 30th anniv. VF-1S Hikaru to replace my old one (old crotch, tinted canopy and slight discoloration) w/c i sold off a couple of weeks ago. Got it for ~$125 w/c is pretty good considering the crazy prices these days. I really wish we had gotten a new YF-19 before Yamato went under. It was the only valk i was waiting for them to make.

Wife got me a 19Kai and Sound Booster pack while she was in HK... couldn't resist the price, ~$200 for both. I'm liking it more now i've handled it myself. It's like my GL chogokin of Macross.

Too much yellow. Could use skull markings on the vertical stabs. Were there any other non-canon valks made by Bandai in the past?

What would be great is if Yamato came out w/ an accessories bundle... SP/SSP w/ side and neck covers, seats and mighty block stand. What would be even better is if Graham recommended this to Yamato and it came true.

Finally found a spot to display my paltry MacF collection. YF-29 plus what's left after i sold off my ver.1s... hopefully i can get a VF-25G ...and here's the rest of the collection sans my Mac0 valks...

Ditto. I like that its taller than the new ones. But i also want a new sculpt YF-19 do display in fighter mode.

IMO, get them now. Yamato is not known for reissuing SP/SSP bundles. Also, most other sites have sold out the 1D, 1J and TV 1S w/ option parts, so its not a sure thing that any of the option parts reissues will go on clearance at HLJ.
